Another dreary start to the day followed by heavy rain after lunch, at least it's mild enough at the moment for no heating 🙂 although that is due to change next week

Following a quick freezer check I've a vague menu plan for the next couple of weeks sorted, no need to shop other than fresh fruit/veg or milk as I don't need anything else for a while as I want to eat down existing supplies

lunch was the LO sprout coleslaw with cold beef and salad.  Dinner more of the cold beef with cauliflower cheese and AF chips.  Tomorrow will be more beef probably a LO roast dinner

  • So mild here, and a beautiful day up until lunchtime. Was like spring, had the back door open while I was painting 😊

Wanted to finish the door I’d started so gave swimming a miss today but have had a good tidy up of my decorating box and a “useful things” box (like the drawer everyone has)!

Lunch was scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast. Made roast chicken, roast potatoes, swede/carrot mash, savoy cabbage and gravy tonight. Was yummy and lots of LOs, particularly the swede/carrot as I made a swede’s worth (19p yellow stickered) so there is loads in the freezer…

Last relaxed day tomorrow before the return to the madness 🙃

Up at daft o’clock this morning, just could not get back to sleep so up for a cuppa in the dark. At least it enabled me to get a loaf into the Panny early & it’s now out & cooling ready for lunch

‘fridge continues to empty, just one portion of the use up trifle left and found a pack of mushrooms lurking, still useable just about if I get them scoffed today. All the bacon has gone now, and eggs are going quite quickly, but way too much cheese, luckily with months of BB dates left so no rush

Weather back to dull & grey, it hammered down yesterday afternoon so just as well I never went anywhere

Today’s food, because I was up early it was a proper cooked breakfast, bacon, eggs & fried bread, jolly tasty and settled the fried bread temptations

Lunch, last of the LO roast pork & stuffing in a fresh bread sarnie

Dinner, open & use up the last of the Christmas smoked salmon, with scrambled eggs & fresh tomato I think, may follow JKS example and add lots of mushrooms to the plate while I’m at it.

Followed by last of the trifle = nearly empty fridge, hooray

Like Brambling I also don't think I'll need much shopping for ages apart from milk & fresh veg / fruit

    Good morning everyone,
Horrible cold, wet and windy day here this morning. I'm for a day in the kitchen as I want to put together a shepherd's pie for tonight and prepare a spinach and ricotta lasagne for tomorrow. The fridge also needs a good sort out and clean. We still have rather a lot of cheese but it will be fine for a while though no doubt there will be lurking bits that need using sooner rather than later!

Last day before work starts again tomorrow 😐 I did lay in bed this morning trying to work out what day it was and should I be working 🙄

Just some light tidying done this morning, my sister and I went to the garden centre for a cuppa this afternoon (we avoided the cakes 😁) and we had a look at the Sale Xmas decorations when walking through there was definitely a reason why a lot of them were 75% off gold rhinos anyone 😳

lunch was toasted bagel with wilted spinach, scrambled egg and smoked salmon.  Dinner was LO roast beef and vegetables with fresh gravy.

  • Well that’s it over for another year…glad it wasn’t just me, Brambling - I suddenly thought I should be on the way to the office this morning 🙃

Glad to see people are adding veg to their scrambled eggs…

Decorations all packed away, they have to be done before I go back to work or they really annoy me 😂, does look bare though! Also went for a mid-morning swim, walked into town for a few errands, stripped all the meat from the chicken, used the carcass to make stock, and made a batch of soup. No idea how I usually have time to go to work 🤨

Lunch was smoked mackerel pate, toast and carrot/cucumber sticks. Easy dinner of reheated roast, just cooked some fresh cabbage.

Although not working I was a bit “What day is it?” as well, doesn’t help with the TV programmes being changed all over the place as well

Back to dull again, but from the forecast I think I’m getting off lightly compared to others, the weather bloke said there's 16 degrees difference between north & south, 10 down here, minus 6 somewhere in Scotland .

All the festive grub has been eaten or frozen now, just the cheese hoard to gradually work through. I do have some 20p sprouts & carrots lurking but they’ll be gone soon

So now back to wondering what to CFO. Today lunch is attack the cheese in a sarnie, with bit of salad

Dinner, salmon fillet ex W8rose offer out defrosting, could be with salad but looking out of the window at the grey sky with rain in it may be with steamed sprouts, broccoli etc. Very much a wait & see meal

    Good morning everyone,
Icy, windy and bitterly cold here this morning.
It's still a holiday up here, DS2 should have been back up work but was owed a day to be used asap so he took it to match the Scottish bank holiday.
I've no great plans for today apart from cleaning the fridge and if I can find the oomph tackle the "tupperware" shelves in the larder cupboard. Might make a pot of soup later.
Lunch will probably be scrambled eggs and tonight I'll bake the spinach and ricotta lasagne I prepared yesterday.
  • Survived the first day back, wasn’t too bad at all but we’ll see how the week progresses…

Lunch was a portion of the butternut and sage soup, just had early tea of beans with toast as it’s swimming later.

Hundreds of emails to go through but not a bad first day back at work especially as it's also the end of year  🙂

Temperature has definitely dropped today with the threat of down to -4 tomorrow night - more like a typical January 🥶

lunch was a repeat of yesterday scramble egg on toasted bagel with wilted spinach and the last of the s owed salmon

Dinner was the last of the beef, I decided not enough to make it worth freezing so I stir fried some vegetables made a Chinese style sauce and add the beef with some noodles. It may be a veggie or fish day tomorrow 🤨
