  • Must be the day for writing Christmas cards, done mine and wrapped the things that need posting off. So far just a sore arm after my booster jab but have just had a steady day anyway as so tired after manic week…

Really mild here and the sun was out on and off so I had a walk after lunch, which was poached eggs and mushrooms on toast.

Trying to empty the freezer a bit and not create loads of LOs so had a portion of pork and gravy from last week for dinner. Made mash to go with (including LOs 😂) plus carrots and green beans.

    Good morning everyone.
Christmas cards are written and I posted them this morning. It's dry here so a good day to pop out to the post box and get some fresh air.
Cuppa now and then a think about food, my meal plan for various reasons has gone to pot!
Dinner last night ended up being eggs scrambled with mushrooms, tomatoes and tabasco on toast.
Lunch today will be a sandwich probably cheese & pickle and it's chicken thighs tonight probably in a traybake.

Dull & damp, but up, earlier than expected due to my tum trouble returning in the middle of the night, bleeeugh!  :s Couple of tablets settled it down enough for me to gingerly venture out. Main objective was collect a prescription but went via Marks to bump up the car battery & also get some items in

Managed to get a small on offer beef joint, thanks for tip Brambling, plus some more of their MFOs & streaky for pig blankets should I decide to do some with my frozen bangers. Only things missing now are some mince pies which are on the Asda list nearer Christmas, they’d never see Christmas morning if arrived too soon

Lunch was bacon baguette, trying to stick to bland items where possible

Dinner, I think it may be bland but safe fried egg sarnie. I did come home with some Mark’s MFO mild curries but I think a miss may be wise for tonight

Christmas Cards stamped & posted when out this morning. Sit back & relax for another year now

  • Lots crossed off the home to do list today, and a day off work - hurrah 😃

Very average toasted sandwich while out Christmas shopping, John Lewis cafe is not what it used to be…

Made butternut squash fajitas tonight, with avocado and soured cream 😋

Another grey & damp day, but at least my tum seems to have settled down, I think I’ll continue avoiding rich or spicy foods for a another day or so, especially as I have hospital appointment Thursday morning and with all this booster jab stuff going on I’m half expecting that to be cancelled so don’t want to take any chances on missing the appointment

Thus today’s food is basic stuff, lunch thinking of bacon butty, dinner maybe another egg sarnie?

If starving I can fall back on a banana or fresh apple

    Good morning everyone,
Hope today is less fraught Brambling!
    Glad tum has settled Farway.
Back to wet and wild here today, it's supposedly a bit milder but it doesn't feel it the wind is bitterly cold.
I made a smashing traybake last night loosely based on a Nigel Slater and a couple of Nigella recipes - chicken thighs, sausages, potatoes, garlic, shallots, red pepper, green beans. peas and chicken stock. Lots of leftovers, the remaining chicken & veg I'll have for lunch and the sausages and spuds will form the basis of dinner.

  • Back to counting the days here (it’s been another manic one) - 6 to go!

Mug of spicy parsnip soup for lunch and tuna and green bean pesto pasta for tea, too tired for anything else…

I can relate to this JKS it took three of us all morning to work out a technical issue and try to politely tell our offshore developer he was talking a load of old twaddle with his take on what was wrong. It was a case of blink and it was 1.30pm and time for lunch 🙄

I did get a trip into town lunchtime to replace my TV, it's been reluctant to turn on the last couple of days so I decided not to risk a lockdown with no TV as I have just the one and it must be 12 -14 years old. Not a fancy one and also one of the few 32'' ones currys had.  There was a more expensive one which seemed identical (same manufacturer)  but about £75 more expensive, I did ask the young guy what the difference was and after much deliberation he said the picture was better on the more expensive one and it was the later model. Both pictures looked the same in the shop so I was very MSE and brought the sale one.  It took longer for me to screw the feet on then it took so set up as I couldn't find my Philips screwdrivers and the straight one wouldn't work. I may need my nephew to talk me through the bells and whistles 🤨

lunch was a quick salad using LO peri peri chicken. Dinner was LO pork roast dinner

It's just a dull & grey day outside, not inspiring at all

The tum continues to improve, I think I could manage a mouthful or two of that yummy looking tray bake Caron, just have to leave the garlic to one side please

Brambling, new TV for Christmas, good idea, don’t want to miss a double dose of Mrs Brown’s Boys [joke].  I was amazed at the clarity of the picture when I replaced my TV, they have improved so much over the years.  I wouldn’t worry about model differences, there’s a recent thread on buying TV on the tech forum, and generally if you can’t see a difference in picture then it doesn’t matter, much the same as with my hearing and sound. The sound may be super duper but if I can’t hear it then it’s irrelevant

I had my son help with the bells & whistles, the advances do require a at least ten year old child to sort them out. It’s not the difficulty; it’s just not knowing what is possible, availble or required. I found it a right pain because some things, like iplayer, want a code now, which meant going on computer to get it

Today’s food, still sticking to bland until hospital is over tomorrow, so bacon butty for lunch & fried egg sarnie for dinner. I have raided the bananas with fresh supplies arriving from W8rose on Saturday
