    Good morning everyone,
No snow here just some icy rain earlier. DS2 had quite a bit Newcastle yesterday. It's a chilly 1C and my neighbour has texted me to say it's pretty slippy underfoot so to take care and let them know if I need anything fetching. Lovely to know that with DS2 away that they are looking out for me.
After yesterday's banking issue and subsequent password changing my phone was syncing properly and it get kept beeping to tell me during the night! I thought I had done everything needed but obviously hadn't but I think I've fixed it now.
Kitchen pottering for me today I think, I want to bone out and roll a couple of lamb shoulders and chop a load of parsley as my kitchen pots are going wild. If the ice clears I might also pick some rosemary and thyme from the garden for the freezer while they are still going strong. The sage leaves aren't worth picking but I have a fairly decent stash in the freezer already. I'm fairly proficient at boning a leg of lamb and separating out the various muscles but I've only attempted a shoulder once before and found it quite hard. I've found a good video on You Tube and feel a bit more confident about it now.
Sandwich and salad for lunch and I've a small pack of fillet steak defrosted for dinner.

Looking bright & cold outside, according to the PC it’s 2C outside, I’ll take their word for it

Foot, not much changed, still red & swollen but far less painful. I can see me back at Doc’s next week once I’ve completed the antibiotics he prescribed. Bit of a mystery as well because I had text message late Friday from chemist that my prescription is ready for collection. No idea what that one is unless Dr or Hospital has added something that I’m un aware of. Most odd

I’m still picking at food, but last night’s tinned spag on toast was just the job. I did have a banana later so not all bad

I put a loaf in for overnight bake, ready by eight this morning. However the tablets or whatever is certainly making me sleep I never woke up until 0830, normal for me is six ish. Luckily the BM has an automatic “keep warm” function so all was fine by the time I got it out

With the fresh loaf it’s sarnie for lunch, time to break into the local FR organic streaky pack from the farm shop. BLT for lunch, and could be repeat for dinner

Sounds like you may need another visit to the Doc Farway no snow here although they did threaten it earlier

I was a bit icky this morning, slight tummy upset and then I lost my morning cuppa a bit later. Only the once but I've not felt 100% all day, food has been tonic water and dry crackers 😐. I had already popped the goat shanks in the SC with some difficulties as they are very large so was tormented by the smell on a sensitive tummy and until they shrank I was having to turn them to keep them under the port/stock 🤢. I feel more human now but I'm not risking too much to eat all the goat could end up in the freezer

Quiet day other than my sister swapping cars about 6pm as I heard her rev my engine I did consider taking back the keys  :s

  • Cold and bright to start with today. Grey and slightly snowy this afternoon but only a sprinkling has settled. Went for a swim this morning and a short walk this afternoon.

Have also done some ironing, sink shining and spray mopping along with quite a lot of not very much 😉

Lunch was scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toasted bagel. Easy, cheat roast tonight of Waitrose stuffed chicken thighs, mash from the freezer, carrots, broccoli and a creamy mushroom sauce (that part was the most strenuous 😂)

    Good morning everyone,
Does sound as though another chat with the DR might be needed Farway.
I hope your tum is happier today Brambling.
Wet, very cold and barely light here this morning, it's supposed to get much milder as the day goes on.
My plan this week is to deep clean my kitchen counters, shelves and doors and all the the things stashed on them. If I do a bit a day it should be manageable. DS2 will tackle the kick boards and high bits when he returns.
Last night I cooked the fillet steak trimming with mushrooms and shallots. Stirred them through some peppercorn sauce (packet mix) and had with tagliatelle. It was really tasty and there's LOs for lunch.
Tonight I'll have the remaining peppercorn sauce with some venison meatballs from the freezer, mash and veg.

Snow overnight, not a lot but enough to stick a bit first thing, one of those mornings I’m glad not to have to go to work with a lot of windscreens being scraped this morning

Foot, still twingeing, I’ll give Dr a ring on Wednesday once my antibiotics run out, have to give them chance I suppose. I have dentist first thing on Wednesday so it’ll be a medical day

Out very early to pick up my prescription for increased Beta blocker dose, very gingerly walking to car etc. but not a lot of snow near the shops, maybe because I’m on higher ground?

Food, lunch is another BLT, toying with idea of saving the FR bacon grease for a fried bread attempt, its years since I’ve had fried bread

Dinner, unsure, if I can muster the CBA I may zap a frozen MFO, otherwise it’s sarnie time again

I suspect my lack of appetite is down to the Beta Blockers, one of the known problems along with dozing off

Hope the tum settled Brambling, always tricky that one

I had the opposite Farway when I was first prescribed beta blockers as a migraine preventative, I was constantly ravenous! Took about 3 months for my appetite and feeling lethargic to settle down! I suppose it might depend which ones you are prescribed.

Tum was a lot better this morning but I woke with a bad head which I think was probably dehydration combined with no caffeine yesterday 😬 a couple of mugs of tea, painkiller and a banana shifted most of it 🙂

It was either a hard frost or a dusting of snow when I looked out this morning but it was too cold to go out and see 🥶

I wasn't that hungry today so lunch was toast and marmalade and I've just had a bowl of porridge with blueberries for dinner. Five portions of goat casserole have been added to the freezer for another time

  • So cold here today. No windscreen scraping or driving in the ice/snow but I have had to have the heating on all day so swings and roundabouts 🙃

Went for a 20 minute leg stretch at lunchtime - certainly blew the cobwebs away!

Lunch was falafels, houmous and grated carrot in a pitta. Traybake tonight - sweet potato, chorizo and spinach hash with aioli and soft boiled egg.

Weather back to dull, grey & mild, I’ll sit in and look at it

My foot has improved but it’s not right, for those old enough these days I’m currently walking like Kenneth Moore playing Douglas Bader in the film.

Rang the Dr this morning to see what next now the antibiotics have nearly gone. Expecting a call back PM tomorrow, AM was available but I’m at dentist then so couldn’t take that slot

Finished up with MFO macaroni cheese last night, added extra cheese. Only a pound one from Iceland but perfectly adequate with my current appetite

I have a couple of streaky rashers left for lunch, so a very skinny BLT for lunch

Dinner I fancy one of my frozen breaded cod fillets, with HM chips & frozen peas. The cod is getting a bit dry in the freezer so needs using ASAP, and give me some extra Christmas space
