  • Torrential rain here earlier this evening and has been dark since about 6.30 😕

I keep thinking it’s nearly soup making time but feels a bit early still…

LO jambalaya for lunch today and then early tea of mushrooms and poached egg on toast before swimming.

Absolutely chucked it down last night, and now sun's out to dry it, and incey wincey, out :)

Had to check the sausage casserole link Caron, looks a good 'un and may try that out soon but have to check on bean availability, beans are one of the ingredients I think I have until I go to find them :/

Talking of soups, I made a LO chicken & mushroom plus fridge LO clear out stew + dumplings for dinner yesterday. It started life as a soup but morphed into a stew when I added the LO cooked veg / spuds from fridge, there were more LO than I had anticipated
Turned out well and a small portion left, plus thee obligatory burnt pan soaking overnight, should come of readily as it's not cinders

Food today, thinking of nuking scrambled eggs on toast for lunch
Dinner, healthy stuff. Steamed salmon fillet [in parcel] with boiled new spuds, carrots, steamed broccoli and Savoy cabbage

Plus I picked more apples yesterday, Champion & Elstar which means I'd better get on and stew the those I picked last week and may make a crumble and freeze the surplus

    Good afternoon everyone,
Sausage casserole got put on hold after DS2 had an impromptu invite to meet up with mates and headed to the pub after grabbing a quick sausage sandwich. I ended up with bangers with mash, peas, onion gravy and LO stuffing.
After a sunny start it's tipping it down now and getting very windy.
I've not long finished wrestling with Henry (hoover) so having a quick cuppa before mopping through. LO bangers for lunch and pasta with HM tom sauce, HM pesto and chorizo for dinner.

I like the Hairy Bikers Sausage and bean casserole but it has too be the none diet version   :D I half the sausages but make the full amount of sauce as it's good with pasta or rice

last night we had a thunder storm with heavy rain which took out my sky in the middle of bake off 🙄 this morning the sun was shining although the temperature has dropped, back to wearing a cardi today

lunch was cheese, crackers and an apple between meetings.  Dinner a JO chicken Kiev from the freezer with AF chips and a pouch of green veg from the freezer to microwave. And the last of the crumble with custard, I didn't fancy it last night

I've checked my Asda shop due tomorrow and no chickens of any size so I've rejigged my shop as the on offer TP and teabags were also out of stock, without the chicken I needed to rethink  as I no longer had their 3 for £10 offer.  TBH I have a half large chicken in the freezer so I'm ok with no chicken I'm fussy with my teabags 😁 and needed to put the amount up to £60 to use the £10 voucher

A text from my sis lunch to say she managed to get diesel she was worried as she needs it for work and was running low, it seems Sains and T Express were empty but luckily there was a delivery at T*esco as she got there so it was only a small queue but a lot longer one when she left. I was worried as she was eying up my car with its half tank of petrol, I don't need to worry at the moment but didn't want to have none.  I need to balance the no need to go far with letting the battery run down 🙄

  • Still holding my nerve on petrol, although I did notice the station at the end of the road had supplies again this evening…resisted temptation as don’t actually need any yet 😇

Lunch was the rest of the spiced roast carrot, rice and ricotta salad. Swimming early evening so shoved a spud in the oven before I went out, had it with tuna n sweet corn (as Victoria Wood would say) and some salad, after my 40 lengths.

Another wfh day tomorrow but might go on a petrol search ahead of the journey to the office on Friday…

    Good morning everyone,
Wet and wild here. One of my friend's is popping by for a catch up, we usually like to sit outside but that won't be happening today. I'm unsure if she'll stay for lunch but have made a pot of soup (cream of tomato)  just in case.
Thai green chicken & veg curry with rice for dinner.

Dull, cool & windy this morning after overnight rain. A stay indoors day if ever there was one

Caron, checked on beans for sausage casserole, I have none :( , added to the Asda list, along with fresh lemons because I came across a microwave lemon curd recipe and fancy giving it a go
The vanishing Asda Chickens Brambling :s, that has also been my 3 for a tenner problem recently but OK now witht he subbed large one givingme, like you, some in the freezer

Lunch, I have a loaf in the Panny so snap Brambling, cheese & HG apple for lunch, in sort of Ploughman style with the fresh bread, pickles etc
Dinner, LO chicken & mushroom stew thing, nuked, maybe dunk fresh bread in it?
Cold stewed apples & LO custard if still hungry later

Asda shop arrived on time, I turned down three of the four subs, 23% fat beef mince rather than 5% pork mince  :s fish cakes instead of salmon 🙄 and 3 large onions instead of leeks, seeing as I had onions in the order I didn't need more, then when I opened the onions I had brought three were soft and mouldy 🙄 no problem instant response front online feedback. Shame about the salmon as it was a good price, but I have some in the freezer.

lunch was falafel and salad wrap.  Dinner was pasta with tomato and veg sauce from the freezer

  • Oh dear Brambling, not the best subs there…at least in the shop, you can quickly change your meal plan and get something useful! I’m really not finding the supermarkets too busy and would rather deal with the random shortages by doing my own subs, but I realise it’s not an option for everyone 😊

Nipped out in my lunch break and got petrol - can’t remember the last time I was so relieved to fill up. Technically it was panic buying as still had about 100 miles worth left but I didn’t fancy driving around near the office (a town I don’t know very well) and I need to be in tomorrow and Monday. Oh well, I’m good for a few weeks now 🙌

Damp, cold, grey day so lunch was warm quiche with baked beans. Did a “pimped up” cheap supermarket pizza tonight topped with all sorts of bits that needed using up - sausage, mushroom, ricotta and some of the HM walnut pesto. Served with salad and coleslaw. Plenty of LOs for a couple of lunches…it was a big pizza 😜

    Good morning everyone,
I must look out the central heating instructions and get the timer etc. set up. When I had the new system installed I just triggered it as needed as it was mid April. I lit the stove the last few evenings but it felt decidedly chilly in the bathroom this morning.
DS2 is getting himself organised to head to Turnberry https://www.turnberry.co.uk/ for a wedding. The wedding is tomorrow but the boys have booked to stay tonight and tomorrow night and make a weekend of it. They are heading for dinner this evening to a local place which gets a good reputation but is less pricey than the hotel.
Tesco are due soon and then I'll see what the day brings, it's wet and wild here so won't be venturing further than the bin.
The last of the HM tomato soup for lunch and dinner is tbc.
