Afternoon folks, wet & windy here as well, did have a touch of sun earlier but that never lasted

bad Asda subbing there Brambling, it's always hard to try & think what a picker may bung in and should l  tick sub OK or not? One think I like about the W8rose list is being able to add remarks, shame about the salmon
I think I tried for that one week but it was also out of stock come picking time & subs not allowed by me. Obviously too good an offer

Out to volunteer place this morning, chat, cuppa & biscuit, plus use the printer to run off my tax calculations which have to be in this month, also over the road into Co-op, milk, yoghurt on multi buy & YS MFO sweet & sour chicken

    Lunch, cheese & piccalilli sarnie
Dinner, nuke the YS MFO S & W chicken meal, an easy option there, with own LO stewed apples & custard if still hungry

    Good evening everyone,
I like that Tesco allow to you to make notes on subs, I use them quite a lot and the pickers are usually pretty good at following them. After today's delivery I now have two extra large cauliflowers. I had ordered two standard ones as they were on SO and the last one I got was tiny. They were out of stock and they subbed them with two huge ones! This week's meal plan may need a bit of a tweak lol!
DS2 has headed off so I'm CFO until Sunday. The weather is dire very wet and windy, some of the showers and gusts have been horrific. I do hope the weather lifts a bit for the wedding tomorrow or it will be indoor photos only, which is a shame as most couples marrying there like to get a few shots with Ailsa Craig and Turnberry lighthouse in the background.
DS2 finished the soup at lunch time so I opted for a scotch egg, oatcakes and salad. I'm still swithering between a stuffed baked spud or breaded fish for dinner.

Caronc You will have to do what I do and invite your sister for a cuppa and offload gift her a cauliflower 😁 at least they tend to keep well

The £10 voucher encouraged me to order with Asda's 😁 currently Sainsbury's and Tesco petrol queues are blocking their shops and Waitrose is opposite Sainsbury's so also impacted.  Lidl have bad parking at the best of times so it was T Exp or M&S🙂 I have salmon in the freezer but was attracted by their price and I have beef mince but wanted pork but not end of world 🙂 Looking in my freezers I won't starve anytime soon 😁

The horrible weather woke me up this morning, another very wet and windy start and cold when I reached out of bed to turn off my alarm.  I may look out my long sleeve Tee shirts I wear to bed. I got caught in a heavy shower bringing in the bins (mine and my neighbours) it was drizzle until I got to his house then the skies opened 💦💨 I needed to dry off when I got in. The weather turned by lunchtime 🌤

lunch was another falafel and salad wrap.  I AF a breaded plaice from the freezer with HM chips and green veg

    Good morning everyone,
I tried Brambling but she refused as she's already got one!
Cold here this morning, I definitely need to get to grips with the heating timer as the thermostat was only showing 14C when I got up about 9am.
Next door's cat was waiting patiently at the door for me to appear and is now snoozing on the sofa.
Lots of the green/semi-ripe tomatoes are now ripe so I'll get a batch them sorted out later for more sauce. Apart from that my book and some admin will keep me occupied.
Last night I ended up with tinned ravioli mixed with peas & broad beans with a sprinkle of cheese on top. For tonight I've a portion of liver & bacon defrosting. I'll have it with mash, also from the freezer and some steamed veg.

I've been reading along but haven't joined the conversation for a while... however, I appear to have a glut of green (unripe) peppers. Any suggestions as to what I can do with them that will be interesting and freezable?

You could stuff them greenbee with mince/rice/veg, I prefer green to red peppers if they are being cooked this way. If you google "gemista" recipes you'll get lots of ideas. This one is good. Gemista recipe (Greek Stuffed Tomatoes and Peppers with rice) - My Greek Dish. It does freeze okay but best to reheat from frozen in a foil covered dish.
Green peppers also freeze well if you just chop and open freeze them.

I can second stuffed peppers Greenbee, I tend to make a batch and freeze.  If I want a change from mince I add feta cheese to the rice and veg mix.  I also like green peppers roasted, or just stick them skin side up under the grill until they blacken and blister and seal them in a plastic bag until they cool and the skin comes off. I use them in things like frittatas or quiches, in pasta salads etc

My sister and I were going to walk into town today for lunch but it was too wet so instead we drove to the cafe at the strawberry farm, I had a Brie, bacon and cranberry toastie and we had a slice of Victoria sponge, whoever bakes their cakes has a very light hand 😋 we then back to her house for another cuppa

I wasn't that hungry tonight so dinner was egg and chips

Yesterday's entry just vanished when I pressed the enter, or thought I did, but CBA to type it again, suffice to say it chucked it down most of the day

Today looks brighter, blue sky anyway

I've a ciabatta in the Panny and a pair of bangers defrosting for a lunchtime sausage sarnie
Dinner, use ups, I have LO boiled spuds & near past it mushrooms, so cheesy frittata / omelette with salad I think
There is one good portion of own stewed apples left, plus last of the Ambrosia custard should I have room later

    Good morning everyone,
The weather is still really horrible today and cold to boot. I thought I'd managed to set up the new heating timer but it didn't come on and I think I might of missed the final/ok save step!  I think I may delegate this to DS2 when he returns.
I'm for a day pottering in the kitchen, I want to make pea & ham soup, tomato sauce and a pie for dinner tonight.

We had some sunshine today 🙂 we also had some heavy rain 😐. When I popped outside this morning there was a strong smell of smoke it smelt like coal fire smoke, not sure which neighbour had lit their fire as I came straight back in as it made me cough but I'm thinking someone needs their chimney swept 🙄 so fire engine so no chimney fire 😁

lunch was boiled eggs and toast.  Dinner a small lamb chump joint just enough for two portions with rosemary and garlic and roast parsnip, sweet heart cabbage, runner beans and carrots
