Good morning everyone,
DS2 returned yesterday afternoon, the wedding weekend had been wonderful but he was exhausted. After unpacking he sat on the sofa and pretty much stayed there until bed time. I think he's wishing he'd taken a holiday day today!
The weather is still rubbish though there's odd blinks of sunshine.
I've treated myself to some "Magic pants" sort of stretchy trouser/joggers. My friend was wearing a pair when she visited last week and was raving about them. As I'm needing some new winter clothes I ordered a pair, they arrived yesterday and I'm delighted with them, another two pairs have now been ordered. They're comfy but smart enough to wear if popping out. Just need to find some tops that I like now as a lot of the ones I have are several years old and getting rather tatty.
Yesterday's pie worked really well though I realised after I put the lid on that I had forgot to add the ham hock so it was just chicken & mushroom. We had it with mash, neeps (swede), green beans and a gravy made from the thinned pie filling sauce. DS2 has claimed leftovers for lunch. I also cooked a large pot of pea & ham soup and batch of tomato sauce for the freezer.
Pea & ham soup for lunch and for dinner DS2 is cooking pork stir fry with noodles.

Nice looking pie Caron, and I love P & H soup. Both items I could make but never do, CBA when it's just me, I get so far and then just call it casserole or stewThe day started sunny and it was my first trip into town for eighteen months, since before first lock down in 2020 really.A few more shops are closed, the charity ones mainly, but one is being painted purple and will be Woozy Woos so it says. No me neitherVisit was for optician eye test and well overdue with Covid, however no changes since last time, at least none worth buying new specs for, that'll do meMooched into Wilko just in case having a gardening clear out, which they sort of where, found fertiliser YS at 75P, that's' me sorted for next seasonI had thought of getting a chippie on way home but I was too early, and it was also raining by thenLunch will be a cheese & salad sarnieDinner, fancy Caron's pie but instead I'll probably nuke a MFO from the freezerEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good afternoon. Had a lovely weekend of eating (and some drinking 😉) out on Friday and Saturday. Back to normal yesterday - scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toasted bagel for lunch after a swim. Made a sausage, kale, ricotta and pesto pasta last night (used up a sausage I cooked a few days ago because I defrosted 2 and only needed 1 plus the end of the HM walnut pesto).
Lunch provided at work today was a bacon roll so going veggie tonight - harissa butternut with couscous and feta.0 -
Sounds like a good weekend JKS 🙂
Pie looks good Caronc 🙂 at least you remembered the gammon in the soup 😁 I think I may have a pair of your 'magic pants' or very similar they are very comfortable and as you say smart enough to go out in mine were M&S and I wished I brought more but I didn't like some of their colours / patterns
Monday came around too quick 😐 although it was a quiet meeting free day with the added satisfaction that the difficult person was being dealt with by a colleague and not me 😁
lunch was LO lamb with salad and mint sauce in a wrap, dinner was spiced breaded chicken thigh fillets AF with new potatoes, HM coleslaw and salad

Sunny start to the day after a night of heavy rain, due to pop out later with a bit of volunteer admin sorting and post my Tax Return while out, just realised postal one has to be in by end of October, I know it can be done on line but I don't want to go down that route unless forced to, I still get my State pension paid weekly but do accept it into my bank & not over the PO counterMeals today are a tad rinse & repeat but Caron's lamb reminded me I have some in the freezer, I'll sort that for later this weekDepending on my volunteer admin timing I may just pop in for a OAP chippy lunchtime special, or it's some sort of sarnieDinner, depends if chippy visited or not, most likely another stab & ping MFO from the freezer otherwise, starting to make some space for the not yet ordered Christmas stuffEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good morning everyone,
Sounds like a lovely weekend JKS.
I didn't realise M&S sold them Brambling, mine are just plain colours grey, khaki and black. I'm not keen on patterned trousers.
Hope you get your chippy Farway!
It's actually dry here this morning, it would be nice if it stayed that way. Chilly though, but thankfully we or rather DS2 seem to have finally sussed the heating timer.
Another kitchen day for me as I want to make some ham stock, a lamb curry, pesto and sort out the two cauliflowers lurking in the fridge. That lot should keep me out of mischief for most of the day!
DS2 made the stir fry last night using a paste he bought at the Chinese supermarket, the flavour was great but my it was salty. Too much so in my case so I ended up trying to pick out the least sauced bits. He'll go back to making his own, they're much better!
Either lamb curry or cauliflower & macaroni cheese for us tonight. Pea & ham soup again for lunch.

Hope you get your chippy Farway!I certainly did, the OAP special £6, all cooked while I waited and no skin of the fish. I did note my special was same size as the full price ones so no skimping thereI will not need much for tea tonightEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Gosh, they look good Farway.
Miserable afternoon here - think it got dark about 6.30 and it has rained since early afternoon. Going to have to force myself out to swimming…
Lunch was the LO harissa butternut couscous and I did early tea of poached eggs and mushrooms on toast, because of swimming 😊0 -

.
F&C look tempting Farway, nice thick piece of cod 😋
My gutters have been hoovered and drips sealed 🙂 he was a little late but did let me know and I did see there were a couple of road accidents which were causing major issues, one on the dual carriageway and one around the corner from me. Lots of moss removed
Lunch was a quick and easy beans on toast. Tonight I did a bit of pruning when it was still dry so dinner was a salad of crab sticks, avocado and egg

Thanks for the green pepper ideas. They're all quite small, so I suspect I'll just go with the idea of slicing and freezing to use as and when.0
