I'm with Octopus (via M&S) Caronc the no exit fee is why I'm dithering on the fix - winter heating may be the thing to drive me back into the office 😐
looks like you will have pumpkin soup all winter Andy, like Caronc I use a lot of containers to freeze, I think I got 8 or10 in the £1 shop for the takeaway type plastic containers, I find with plastic bags cheap ones can be a false economy if they are too thin you need to double bag
Lunch time I picked the last of my late blueberries and was surprised to pick over 1.5lbs especially as a fat thrush has spent weeks standing guard over them and snacking on them. I think I've picked the last of the beans, I don't think the flowers that are left will produce anymore, I also think it's the last of the mini cucumbers another 6, I was given one plant and I've picked over 30 from it (I've asked my friend for the variety). I'm hoping it's the last of the courgettes 🙏 one correct size one, one marrow and one almost football size (round variety) the round ones did well but I don't like the shape is all wrong for cooking. I may follow Montys advice and compost the football size one.
lunch was the same as yesterday ratatouille with feta, the last two portions are frozen now. Dinner was the last of the beef with AF chips and veg

Thought I’d posted last night…long day…
Lunch was a salad with some LO roast pork and roast potatoes plus some of the chimichurri. Swimming yesterday evening so early tea of beans on toast.
Back later, have a good day everyone.0 -
caronc said:Yes it hard to know what to do for the best just now Brambling. Who did you go with in the end Farway? All my options seem to involve a fair hike in costs so far Octopus looks like an option purely because there's no exit fees but I'm unsure if they are one of the ones that might go under. I'll continue to scout around but it feels a bit Hobson's choice at the moment.
Joining you in the smoked haddock department tonight Farway, I'm making a pot of bacon, smoked haddock and corn chowder which we'll have with garlic bread. Autumn is definitely coming.I stayed with Zog, it all got confusing especially as a lot of them were pulling their offers and I've had no problems with Zog despite the daft name.If it goes bust then I'll be another one tacked onto an alternative supplier but given everything else that's going on I'm fortunate that it's something I'm not too worried about for the moment not having to choose between heat or eatFinally made my mind up with Asda online shopping, decided I could no longer wait for Greek Yoghurt to re appear so going without that and grabbed the small chicken & bleach that reappeared. Delivery tomorrow AM, with my tenner offI was out earlier doing a bit of watering at volunteer place, then collected my prescription, quite nice in the sunshine at the momentLunch, having a change, nuked scrambled eggs on marmite stale bread toastDinner, salad with I think a Gregg's / Iceland cheese slice thing from the freezer if I can find itEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
My bright & early this morning JKS, I'm very glad I don't have to be up and about at that time these days!
I'll have your round courgette Brambling, I love them and they are fab for stuffing. After a chat with DS2 I'm going to take the risk of doing nothing re moving to another fix for the time being, apart from anything else I'd be foolish not to make the most of the remaining time on my current low rate.
Dull & turning to rain here today and after a milder day yesterday feels a good bit cooler. I'm pooch sitting this afternoon and he's going to be disappointed that I won't be leaving the back door open for him to pop in and out as he pleases!
Chowder last night was gorgeous - lots of LOs so that's lunch covered and maybe a portion for the freezer. One of those things that's difficult to cook a small amount of!
JO's Jalfrezi chicken bake for dinner tonight. I need to feed my sour dough starter so may use the discard mixed with flour & yoghurt to make a flat bread to have with it.0 -
Evening 🙂
Now why didn't I think it would be easier to stuff the round ones than the marrow shape ones 🙄 I may take some mince out at the weekend and stuff one
Still warm enough lunch time to tackle my remaining plant in the garden which needed removing before bin day on Friday, I won 😁 I was also able to clear the brambles from behind it and chop a little off my neighbours cobnut tree. I lost track of the time and just got back inside to grab a quick lunch before a call 😬 it was difficult to leave the garden for a 2 hour meeting
lunch was cheese, crackers and a apple. I cooked a small gammon for dinner, it was a on offer one from Waitrose, surprisingly for them it was a little salty. I cooked new potatoes and garden veg with it, some LO potatoes so I may chip them tomorrow night

Definitely early caronc, not so much of the bright 😂
I did at least get breakfast at the early meeting this morning!Lunch when I finally needed something was some more LO roast pork, the end of the coleslaw and some salad. Another portion of the HM RM spiced chicken and apricot rice after swimming tonight.
This week seems to be going on for ever but we are over halfway now 🙌0 -
Good morning everyone,
I'm sorry Farway I missed your post yesterday. Zog is a new one to me but they seem to only do gas and I usually search for duel fuel. Though depending what happens over prices etc. I may look to splitting them again.
Dull, wet and chilly here this morning, hard to believe that last Saturday we were bbqing in short sleeves! Winter must be on it's way - next door's cat appeared wanting to snooze on my kitchen chair after his folks had left for work/school!
Chores and finalising my Tesco order are about the sum of my plans for today.
Toastie for lunch and JO's bejewelled pork with rice & beans for dinner.0 -
Up a bit earlier, today was Asda delivery day and needed to shuffle food around to make some freezer space, which I should've done over the past few days but left until last minute of courseArrived on time, loads of it having bigged up my order with "It'll keep & I'll use it sometime" stuff, like Marmite, to get a tenner offFound two of the 12 eggs are cracked, and tin of pig meat Pseudo Spam is bent, refund is paid already. I must say Asda is very good at that, no argey bargey, just pay it backPlus as I secretly hoped they had run out of small fresh chickens, so I was subbed a large one for same price, and all fresh items have a long BBE date, at least until next week so no pressure thereLunch, made a fresh ciabatta int eh Panny, looking like cheese + salad sarnieDinner, change of plan due to cracked eggs
, it's cheesy omelette + chips + some salad

Did you have anything not delivered Farway?
Usual work day for me although annoyingly a delivery turned up broken, it looked like the box may have been dropped 🙄 they had put one box inside another very large box with packing paper on top but not under it :S the company have been quick in arranging a new delivery and collection of the damage item on Monday but in the meantime I'm living around a 3 ft high box which is tempting the cat 😐
I finished up at 5pm again tonight so I could ensure my garden bin went our full 😁 my neighbour was laughing at me getting my money's worth 😁.Lunch was a gammon and egg salad. Dinner was a cba HM fish pie from the freezer with LO veg from yesterdayLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Another office day in what seems to be the longest week ever, so lunch was the rest of the harissa couscous and chickpea salad.
Knew it would be a long day so easy dinner of linguine with mussels (one of those pouches with sauce that you just warm up). Will try harder tomorrow 😂0
