Good morning everyone,
Yep JKS a roast chook is certainly a gift that keeps on giving in CFO land.
Wet and grey here today, I have some plant tidying needing done but it can be done indoors or on the deck so no excuse not to do it! DS2 returned from his brother's with a boot full of tomato plants that I'm looking after while they are on holiday. I've promised to give them a much needed tidy up /nip the growing tips etc. and I'll do my conservatory and deck ones at the same time.
Next door's cat has been in to investigate the smell, I'm reducing a pan of HM chicken stock and the wafts from it are rather enticing.
Toastie I think for lunch and I've salmon defrosted for tonight. We'll have it with Ayrshire tatties, broccoli and roasted peppers.

Cooler today but still sunshine, out earlier checking the volunteer border / pots for water but with so much rain lately that for once no further water is requiredDGS A level results still unknown to us, but it's scared him so much he has put his gaming PC away in preparation for resit in October
. I heard on news this morning boys are renown for last minute cramming and then passing, girls go steady all term it seems
The differences in courses available these days, one DGG is off to Spasholt agriculture college, aiming for BTEC, and talk about long term planning, then onto Eden Project for her degree, gulp! At least we may get free entryHowever unlike normal list of stuff to buy for college she also has to get steel toe capped boots & a hard hat. Part of course is landscaping so presumably building site regs would apply at timesIf she sticks at it she'll do well, very focused, she's learning all the plant Latin names between setting up a web site etc, blimey, exhausting just hearing about itLunch was cheese, marmite & tomato sarnieDinner, one breaded cod fillet out defrosting, with HM AF chips & nuked peasAnd made first picking of blackberries from the garden this afternoon, so a crumble with one of last years frozen stewed apples which I've just removed from the oven, should be ideal for later when I'll open a tin of custard

Good morning everyone,
Yikes Farway sounds as though DGS didn't quite get what he hoped for, he's got lots of time to get back on track. Well done to DGG it's great that their are so many choices and routes that young people can take to reach their preferred career.
I'm unsure what the weather is going today though it's supposed to turn quite windy for a spell this afternoon. It's dry just now and I was going to give the hanging and wall baskets a tidy up but if they're going to get wind bashed this afternoon I might as well leave it until after that's passed.
I'm some admin to do for the out of school club, hard to believe that the kids go back to school a week today, and need to finalise my Tesco order but apart from that I've not much planned.
Cheese salad for lunch and I've "posh" hot dog type sausages defrosting to have in baguettes with mushrooms & onions for dinner.0 -
Bit damp this morning, not raining just dull, damp & mildThe Asda order arrived with some items missing, nothing critical, Pukka pies [on offer] and Vintage cheese spread, also on offer. I guess others also the offers were too good to refuseOne bad point, the only Pukka pie that did arrive is two days past it's sell by date, refund obtained of course. That's the first thing I've had that's actually out of date & not close to itHowever I will give it a sniff & try it for dinner with mash, cabbage, carrots & broccoliLunch, yet another cheese sarnie, with piccalilli today I thinkThe DGS A level saga continues, he's not said what the results are but they are not good enough to get him into Leeds where he wanted to go, he needs to resit but that is all a mess with missing some of the syllabus due to Covid he and others just can't sit a "normal" A level paper. There must be hundreds of similar around and the education folk seem to be running around not knowing how to sort it out.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Oh poor DGS, I hope the education boffins work out a solution quickly.
That's pretty poor re the pie, it's one of the many things that stopped me using Asda for regular deliveries. I'm not sure I'd risk it as goodness knows where it's been stored, it would depend what the filling was and I'd decide from there if it passed the sniff test.0 -
MIA yesterday as was out for dinner 😀 Shared some nibbles of halloumi fries, calamari and panko chicken. Main course was cod with new potatoes and a chorizo broth 😋…somehow managed to squeeze in dessert of sticky toffee pudding 😉
Lunch was more chicken noodle salad.
Today was the end of the chicken noodle salad for lunch. Courgette risotto from the freezer tonight, with some pan fried fresh courgette and oven roasted balsamic tomatoes.0 -
That sounds gorgeous JKS.
Dinner is still a "work in progress" - DS2 is busy finishing his outfit for a stag weekend he leaves for tomorrow morning. (Don't ask but the theme for Saturday night is pooh and a squillion staples are involved......) I'm more worried that with the current stormy weather that they are going white water rafting tomorrow afternoon.I dread to think what state he'll be in when he returns on Sunday!!!

Good morning everyone,
It's a tad on the blowy side here this morning though dry so far. DS2 has headed off to his mate's stag weekend so I'm CFO until Sunday.
Tesco is due soon and if they bring it dinner tonight will be a steak & haggis pie with veg from the freezer.
If the wind dies back later and the rain stays off I hope to spend some time gardening, if it the weather is uncooperative it will be the sofa and my kindle.0 -
I survived the OOD BBE pie and still here
. Hope DS2 can say the same post stag weekend Caron
Sunny spells and a bit windy today, the only excitement is it's bin collection dayLunch was jam on toast, complete lack of initiative thereDinner will be more adventurous, pan fried salmon fillet, with boiled new spuds + saladMaybe some HM & HG B & A crumble to followEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Glad the pie was okay Farway and you lived to tell the tale!
The weather wasn't obliging so no gardening done.
Tesco did bring the pie though)
I'm expecting a very hungover overly tired DS2 back on Sunday. I've promised a roast dinner.
