    Good morning everyone,
Damp and dreich here this morning.
I had a lovely afternoon with the kids and as expected a decent dent was made in the cocktail sausages.  :D
Apart from a general tidy up and cooking dinner later I'm planning a leisurely day.
LO chicken in wrap with salad for lunch. For dinner
I'm boning and stuffing with haggis two small turkey drumsticks which we'll have with roasties, carrots, broccoli, green beans and peppercorn sauce.

  • Rainy and grey this morning but sunny and breezy this afternoon so got some towels on the line 😉

Other than that a swim this morning and some pottering around, I did walk to town after lunch once it had dried up.

Lunch was poached eggs and avocado on toast. Did a roast chicken tonight, with new potatoes cooked in with the chicken and served with carrots and green beans. Planning on strawberries and creme fraiche in a bit 😋

Sounds good JKS, I'd forgotten what a PITA boning a turkey drumstick was, not so much the bone but all the fiddly tendons. Took blooming ages but got there in the end! Just waiting for DS2 to get back from helping his Dad with a car breakdown and dinner will be served.  :)

    Good morning everyone,
The haggis stuffed turkey parcel ended up working well and didn't burst or leak though it was a tad lopsided. The drumstick meat was beautifully tender and the haggis stopped it from drying out. It made a nice change from my usual chicken version.

My there has been some amount of rain in the last 24 hours though it seems to be easing a bit now. Not as bad here as in Glasgow though, DS2 and DIL-to-be went for lunch in the West End and ended up having to make a very convoluted journey home afterwards as there was so much flooding all the public transport services were disrupted. They were absolutely soaked by time they got back to their flat. The weather had been okay when they left or they probably would have cancelled.
I'm pooch sitting overnight as both my sister and nephew are working, I'm just waiting for him to be dropped off. He's not keen on the rain so it may be a bit of a struggle to get him walked later if it's still raining.
Chicken & salad wrap again for lunch. Tonight I'm cooking JO's Bejewelled Pork with rice & beans and salad.

Looks nice Caron, but I'll have to pass thanks, never could get used to haggis but that's possibly because mine would've been bin end ones I suspect
DIL-to-be must be an eye opener from her "normal" summer surroundings to a Glasgow summer >:)

Sun's out here but still soggy from overnight thunder, indoors anyway because it's MOT day so need to be handy for 'phone

Managed to get my online Asda order sorted for Thursday morning, had trouble at checking out and needed to change browsers for it to work, no doubt some "improvement" is responsible for that, at least it's done and only thing missing online is small chicken on the 3 for a tenner offer but I subbed with some steak, seems a fair swap to me

Fresh loaf from Panny is ready for lunch, bangers are in oven ready for a sausage sarnie lunchtime
Bit of steak out defrosting for dinner, plus use the last egg and HM AF chips

You could stuff it with whatever you fancied Farway if haggis isn't your thing.
I think DIL-to-be is pretty used to Scottish weather by now she's been here for nearly 12 years but yes does miss the good weather though not the excessive 40C+ temperatures they've been getting in Athens and of course the dreadful fires. All being well her and DS2 are due to fly there this Saturday, it will be first time she'll have seen her family in over a year.
  • Very impressive, caronc, although I’m also passing - way too faffy for me even with a different stuffing 😂

Enjoyed my shove it in roast chicken very much, and the leftovers tonight! Lunch was sweet potato falafels in a wrap with salady bits and a yoghurt and coriander dressing 😋

Apparently the sun’s coming back tomorrow….

It's arrived here :) , Caron I saw photos of the Glasgow flooding, must be awful for those caught up in it and now facing drying everything out

Good news on one front though, my car passed MOT only needed needed anti roll bar joint replaced so now all set for another year

We're waiting on DGS's A level results today, he's unsure because he is a last minute swatter & Covid caught him out and he's now relying on course & term work, but at least they are allowed appeals & resits this year I think.
Not that he is set on any university or way ahead, quite happy at the moment with his part time job at local swimming pool and with the money it brings in, this of course may change once he get real pay packets & sees how much goes out as tax & NI before it arrives in his hands, and now he has to buy his own clothes which also came as big surprise :o

Bit of a messy meal day today because I'm off to a funeral about midday, so lunch is a pub buffet and dinner is dependant on how hungry or bothered I am at that time, could be a sarnie or maybe ping something from the freezer

    Good morning everyone,
I quite like faffy things JKS if I'm in the mood, but I'm not balancing work/life these days so have plenty of time on my hands.
Fingers crossed for DGS Farway, I hope he's happy with his results. I think he's just as well to take his time to decide what happens next I think more young people should do this rather than leap straight into uni or college options. provided of course that's taken as an excuse to do nothing while they decide which is clearly not what your DGS is doing.
I'm still pooch sitting and he's been as good as gold apart from his habit of sitting on tables. He really doesn't get that they're not just another seating option lol!
Lunch will be the last of Saturday's chook with salad in a wrap. Dinner tonight is tbc, DS2 is seeing his Dad and I'll decide later what I fancy.
  • Maybe I’ll be more inclined to faffyness when I have more time on my hands, caronc…and maybe not 😂

Sesame peanut noodle salad with some LO chicken for lunch. Pasta with pesto, broccoli and more LO chicken tonight. The joy of a roast chicken and CFO…
