Phew, made it - been a long week…
Home office today so nice, productive day at work plus a load dried on the line 😀
Lunch was sweet potato falafel wrap with lettuce, cucumber, avocado and a coriander yoghurt dressing. Used up loads of bits from the fridge and some LO roast beef from the freezer tonight, in an egg fried rice concoction with Chinese 5 spice, ginger, garlic and chilli.
Looking forward to an easy weekend ☺️0 -
Hint of sun but mostly dull, not a salad day at the momentMeals unknown right now, could be more toast for lunch because I've only got stale bread leftDinner, I'll have to check through the dates on the recent delivery and use the closest but thinking of sausages, eggs, chips & beans for taste & convenienceGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0

Good morning everyone,
Hope you get the chance to relax today JKS.
It was pouring when I woke up but it's supposed to dry up as the day goes on. Don't think I'll be pegging out but might get the chance to tidy up the hanging baskets.
BLT for lunch I think. I've two turkey wing drumettes defrosting in the fridge to have for dinner. I'm thinking a quick tandoori or similar marinade might be good. I'll have them with flat mushrooms and sweet potato.0 -
Evening all 🙂
This week has flown by, the weather was a little unpredictable, luckily just a couple of damp mornings and yesterday was hot and sunny. We manage to walk along the beach every evening, a bit gray at times but always dry and I managed to slightly tan last yesterday (well my arms did)
As with our trip down we left 7am this morning so missed the queues at the Tamar bridge we passed on the way down. We dropped my sister off in the New Forest and had a cuppa, we got back into town about 1.15pm so a good trip back just some queues around the Wimborne bypass in Dorset and then around Chichester probably not helped by 9 days engineering works on the trains around here, our station is closed. Farway not sure if you know the Canford Bottom roundabout on the Wimborne bypass but it seems last Saturday lunchtime there were queues back to the M27 so we were glad of last Saturdays early startMy garden went mad with the rain, anyone need runner or French beans, courgettes or cucumbers (I have 10 mini cucumbers) I send a please help message to my sister and she's popping in tomorrow to rehome some of it, although I'm not sure she will want small marrows or a round courgette the size of a football 😬
Lunch today was macaroni and cheese with garlic bread and salad at the garden centre around the corner from home. Dinner has been cheese and crackers (a double cheese day😬) shopping delivery is due late tomorrow morningLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Double cheese day sounds amazing, Brambling 🤩
Very relaxed day, thanks caronc - found The Good Wife is all available on Alibi (7 seasons!), managed to miss it on C4 and Netflix so very pleased, may have binged a few episodes…
Did also go for a swim, do a food shop and some washing and ironing.
Lunch was quiche, salad and coleslaw. Old favourite of sausage, leek and mushroom pasta tonight. I find it a really relaxing recipe to cook 😊0 -
Up early because I just couldn't drop back to sleep. Made full use of the time though & have already fed & watered the pots out the front and have a ciabatta in the PannyWith fresh bread being available come lunchtime, and the new bangers in the fridge it's sausage sarnie for lunch, maybe with mustardDinner is harder choice, should the sun come out I'll have another pan fried salmon fillet, salad + boiled new spuds. If it remains dull maybe more bangers with LO nuked mash?Gardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0

Good afternoon everyone,
Good to hear the weather was fairly kind Brambling, glad your sis is able assist with the surplus veg. I think my cucumber plant has finished, I can't complain as it has yielded well but had hoped to get a few more. I'll not bin it yet and see if it rallies.
Glad you managed some "R&R" JKS.
Oh Farway - bangers, fresh HM bread and mustard now you're talking!
LO tandoori turkey with salad in a wrap for lunch. I'm not sure when DS2 will return but I've promised him a roast lamb dinner this evening. I'm pooch sitting this evening and overnight - no doubt poochy will be looking for some lamb, it seems to be his favourite. For an ex-street dog he's certainly got a taste for the finer things in life lol.0 -
I've had a lazy day other than holiday washing and a visit from my sister where she tried to take the pick of the veg and leave me with the giant courgette 🙄 I've just pottered and wondered just how much fur his lordship managed to moult over the week
my shopping was all delivered this morning with no substitutions so lunch was a BLT roll and dinner a roast chicken dinner, so chicken will appear a lot over the next few daysLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Ah, good old rubber chicken…bounces even further when CFO 😂
Had a fairly productive morning cutting grass and tidying outside before going for a swim. Home for scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast for lunch.
Out to an open gardens event in a very pretty local village this afternoon, where it would have been rude not to try the lemon drizzle cake 😉
Dinner was smoked mackerel pitta pizza, salad and coleslaw (leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch obviously) 😎0 -
Good morning everyone,
"Rubber chicken" - yep definitely the gift that keeps on giving when you're CFO lol.
The lamb yesterday was just a small piece so apart from a couple of small slices which I'll have for lunch it's all gone.
DS2 survived the stag weekend though he was tired teddy when he returned and is still very bleary this morning despite an early night.
I'm pooch sitting today, he's really no bother and at the moment is snoozing in his favourite chair. It's a bit damp and drizzly or else he would be wanting to snooze in the garden, something he can't do at home.
I'm trying a new traybake tonight recipe though only using four thighs so that there's not lots of LOs. Amatriciana chicken traybake recipe | BBC Good Food0
