My excitement for the day was putting petrol in the car the first time in months 🙂 and a brief disagreement in T Express over the price of strawberries 😡 I was charge £3 for strawberries rather than £2.20 so I double checked the shelf before querying. First she said I had looked at the wrong ticket or someone had put the pack in the wrong place, then she said there are savings on the bottom of the receipt and they're on offer (they weren't and savings were for something else) when I disagreed she sent someone to check and they said £2.20 she still insisted she was right and when I said ok I'll have my £3 back she said no it would only be £2.20 !!! And with a queue forming she called the manager who took one look and agreed with me giving me back 80p. It was the principal by then and TBH if I hadn't notice until I got home I would have left it.  They had better be worth the hassle 😁

After being out too long lunch was cheese, crackers and tomatoes the sad half cucumber was going slimy  :( dinner was pan fried salmon a la Farway but I made some new potato chips using LO  potatoes and had with salad (minus the cucumber). Whilst the chips were AF I used some of the egg glut by making a crustless quiche with some of the potatoes, asparagus, mushrooms and red onion

Gee whizz what a pain Brambling I'd have stood my ground too and then popped the refund in the charity box at the end of the till if they had one!
After picking up a tip online somewhere I've stopped keeping my cucumbers in the fridge and bung them in the fruit bowl shrink wrap and all even when opened. It's a CFO game changer as they last for absolute ages and don't go slimy.
Yes cooking for others definitely ups the ante, I've cooked my little socks off tonight but it was worth it. The Lebanese style rice & lentils was gorgeous though I must remember to a) write down what I did as it was an amalgamation of several web recipes and b) carmelise the onions in advance as they took almost two hours to get to the lovely, brown sticky stage! For someone who professes to not like HM hummus my sis ate rather a lot of it, I'll take it as a compliment rather than a complaint that she thought I'd bought it!  There's very little by way of LOs, the skewers all got eaten so just a splodge each of hummus and herby yoghurt plus a couple of spoons of rice & lentils to use up tomorrow.

Today I'm on the right side of the sunny fringe, pleasantly sunny outside right now.

I failed, by the time I got round to it I had tum ache and finished up with cheese & crackers much later a la Brambling :)

I put a ciabatta in the Panny earlier for lunch time sarnie then in the garden planting bedding because forecast said it may drizzle so thought I'd get in quick. Now I think forecast was wrong
I was checking the W8rose shopping for slots yesterday while it's still free delivery here, however having decided to take the plunge I'm unable to get on the site this morning, so looks like it maybe back to Asda, plenty of slots there but no rush

Lunch is a sarnie with the new loaf, could be fish finger today
Dinner, assuming tum behaves it's attempt two at pan fried yesterday's defrosted salmon fillet [fingers crossed it hasn't gawn orf], boiled baby spuds & salad bits

Hot news, my peas are in flower, only grown enough for a taster this year but it's enough CFO

    Good afternoon everyone,
Hope your tum behaves today Farway. I'm jealous of your peas, none sown (or beans) for me this year so it will be shop bought pods for me when I see some.
Dull and drizzly here today. I'm tired after yesterday's cookathon so happy to have a quiet day indoors. I've done a bit of tidying up, put the kitchen back to rights and tackled some ironing and I think that will do me for today unless I get a sudden burst of energy later.
LOs from last night for lunch and I've the last FR pork chop defrosting to have later with Jersey Royals and veg.

Another beautiful day here today, shame it was mostly spent in two long meetings! On the plus side, lunch was pizza bought by the boss 😋

Salmon and broccoli pesto pasta tonight, easy and yummy!

I hope your tum settled Farway and the salmon was fit for human consumption 🙂I've booked a W8itrose slot for next Tuesday evening and will add stuff for a friend as well I originally booked for Saturday but decided I could push it back

lovely day here and I managed to sit out lunchtime to eat my crustless quiche salad, I really didn't want to come back to work.  Dinner was LO chicken and bacon orzo 'risotto' the favours had matured well  :)

Thanks all, tum behaved, salmon was pong free and I even made a carroty type of coleslaw including LO walnuts pieces from my Hello Fresh trial box a bit back,  cleared my plate and a lot of the fridge salad drawer :) .
Snap on W8rose, my delivery is set for Sunday lunchtime, still free but doubled to 80p for carriers which I have, I know it's not MSE but it's convenient for me with back & bendy problems so while the option exists I'll continue to use it.

I was watching a You Tube bit, someone trying the new Iceland Harry Ramsden items, it did look nice, plump fish, full of meat pie & thick chunky chips, they reckoned it was nice, not a cheap option but I may just try some in my next Iceland slot, could be an alternative to W8rose posh fish fingers

Lunch today is cheese sarnie, and I may add the LO HM coleslaw in there
Dinner, wish I had one of the HR pies above, ideal day for one, however it'll be a posh MFO from the freezer, curry or Chinese depending what I fancy at the time

    Good morning everyone,
I'm glad tum is better Farway.
Dry but cloudy here today but at least the rain has cleared though no chance of seeing the eclipse.
I've been ordering more wrist splints as my dodgy wrist/hand isn't half playing up. It gives me grief every year during gardening season but is particularly unhappy this week and suspect my current supports as not as taut as they should be anymore. Gardening is planned for this afternoon but I'll try and stick to stuff that doesn't put too much pressure on it.
Ham salad wrap planned for lunch and I've a portion of HM Italian sausage lasagne defrosting for dinner.

I think we are getting to be old crocks  :D I was awake during the night with a really painful big toe 🙄 I think a flare up of usual joint pain although I did lay awake wondering about gout as my brother and a sister suffer from it, its not hot and is a little better now so I think it's just the usual aches and pains

Last year I had a outside tap installed and wondered why it took me 15 years this year I got around to getting a hose pipe (i know how to live) and used it tonight now I'm wondering why I left it so long 😁 just need to keep an eye on the water meter but definitely easier than cans as the veg patch is at the back of the garden

lunch was more of the crustless quiche with salad.  I made a bolognese sauce lunch time as I like to give it a long slow cook but pottering in the garden after work gave me a hayfever induced asthma attack so I'm not hungry,  I'll have cereal if I do need something before bed.  My neighbour planted wide flower seeds in part of their front garden which seems to have grown a lot more grass than wild flowers a lot of which blew over my side and I'm fighting a battle with it 🙄 grass pollen is not good for me which is why I'm grateful my other neighbour mows my lawn for me 🙂

At least tomorrow I only have to cook pasta 🙂

  • Forgot to post yesterday…a day in the office with no meetings but got absolutely loads done 😀

Lunch was therefore more noodle salad. Made prawn saganaki last night but used some sad looking cherry tomatoes instead of tinned chopped tomatoes, worked well with an added splodge of tomato purée. Served with the end of the broccoli and the end of a bag of salad…must go food shopping after work today!
