Good morning everyone
It's better looking morning than it's been though still far from warm and I'm not sure the sun will break through but it is dry which is a plus.
Still trying to get a hold of British Gas after abandoning being on hold for ages yesterday. If no joy I'll get up and organised tomorrow in case they do appear.
I love the sound of your son's outdoor space Farway. I've been talking with my son about some changes to my garden and rather than a few tweaks I'm going for a complete overhaul of the layout. I think I'd got a bit blinkered in my thinking and the new arrangement should work better for my current life. I'll probably have to sacrifice some veg growing this year but I can live with that.
I cooked the salmon yesterday so curried sausages for dinner tonight. HM soup again for lunch.0 -
Enjoy your Good Friday outing, Farway. I’m seeing my support bubble over Easter and we are hoping that it at least stays dry for a bbq on Sunday 🤞
Real CFO using up tonight - leek and mushroom omelette, homemade potato wedges and broccoli because it needed eating. Lunch was harissa couscous with chicken, chickpeas and dried apricots1 -
Fingers crossed for warm dry weather over Easter
I think we can look at something for too long and it needs a fresh brain to put different perspective on things Caronc I need to do something with my back garden but have no idea what it's not very exciting or very big 🤔
I spent most of today on a team meeting testing our new system and managed to escape just after 6pm, I did have to pinch myself about 4pm to stop falling asleep whilst two of my colleagues spent half hour going round in circles on a minor detail. I didn't sleep well last night, I woke myself up dreaming about 2am and convinced myself I needed the loo which I didn't as that was part of the dream then couldn't drop back off 🙄
A freezer rummage produced another Mediterranean pita bread (the last I think) and some falafels so I air fried them and added some salad. Dinner was pan fried pork chop, green veg and new potatoes, I have brought the cider to cook my chop that way following CFO discussions but was interrupted by a phone call by one of my sisters so needed a quick and easy dinner afterwards 🙂

Good morning everyone,
Yes Brambling bouncing ideas back and forward with my son has been helpful, he quite likes gardening so understands what I want/need and why.
Up and organised early today waiting for the electrician, despite my appointment not showing on my account according to the helpful chap I spoke to at British Gas it is going ahead and I had a text just before 8am reminding me. My body clock was less than impressed at getting up at 7am, I think lots of cuppas will be needed today!
Bright with a touch of frost here today, it's supposed to drop below zero tonight. Depending on what happens with the electrics I hope to get some garden tidying done today.
Italian sausage ragu is defrosting to have with pasta tonight and lunch will be the last of the HM soup.0 -
'morning, bright but a cold wind today, fine for working outside wrapped up but not shirt sleeves like a few days ago. I'll stay inside looking out I thinkI've already sorted today's gardening out, sowed the runner beans in pots indoorsLunch, fancying a change so think it's stale bread toasted with ??? spread on itDinner, the offer W8rose A Angus steak was very nice last night, I'm going to have the other portion of it tonight with fried eggs, frozen chips I think and LO beansThe steak was part of a 3 for a tenner offer, which made it good value considering how nice it is. Should I ever get another slot I'll put another one the basket along with the salmonEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Ah well, I thought it was too good to be true, electrician not coming for technical inspection today as it's non-essential work. I was surprised when it was seemingly going ahead due to the current restrictions here. Lovely guy who was out in Feb, called me when the technical team bounced it back to this morning unactioned. In normal circumstances I'd be narked but we live in "interesting" times and the guy who called has given me his mobile in case it falls into a black hole again. Job has been provisionally rebooked for a couple of weeks....

Farway I think a lot of W8itrose deals finish on the 6th April, not sure about the salmon
How annoying about the electrician Caronc, of course if you hadn't been really for him he would have arrived
I've had a frustrating couple of calls with the council today regarding my 'green' wheelie bin, we pay £42 a year DD (starts 1st April) for the privilege of them collecting garden waste fortnightly and i hadn't received my bin sticker yet. Four times I told the guy they had taken the DD on the 1st March, it seems I wasn't on their records and as it's the end of financial year they have no computersI knew what the problem was but he didn't believe me on the first call. About a month ago I received a letter from them with my address but a different name and partial bank details for that person, it was a 'thank you for signing up to the scheme letter' I called and suggested they had mail merge issues and after 15 mins of are you sure it's not you I agreed to return the letter for them to resolve. It seems they corrected it for the other person and cancelled my details but obviously not the DD!! I have to call them back on Wednesday to see if they have resolved the issue and have sent out my label, I did ask him if they would be emptying my Easter gardening rubbish next Friday and got a vague answer so probably not. According to him it wasn't their fault but the other person gave them my address ???? she didn't even live on this Close or the Road with the same name so why she would she do that??
And he kept calling me by my first name, which I don't mind if I'm asked but was a little annoying as he hadn't even given me his. Sorry rant over there will probably be another one on Wednesday, you have been warned
Combined with a PITA senior manager making a lot of changes to something without telling me until I tried to start a major 5 day monthly task and kept getting errors thrown up, so I've lost today trying to sort it out and I'm still waiting for access to a new system it seems i now need. I'm eying up the gin bottle and emergency chocolate supplywhich will be needed as I have to re-write 40 pages of instructions so I can hand the blooming job over remotely
Anyway on the food front lunch was a hot cross bun and some fruit. Dinner will be the last HM RM from the freezer which is lasagne with some LO green veg from yesterday. For the first time in years my HM RM drawer in the freezer is emptyI've a HM chicken Kiev left which I'm not sure if counts

Popped my nose outside first thing, putting some peas out to harden up BTW, it's a very cold wind, fingers crossed for our six outside in son's garden today, have to wrap up well, I don't think he has a patio heater, I expect with the granddaughter she'll be in the paddling pool, never feels the cold even when her fingers are blueBrambling, your "green" bin arrangements sound awkward, ours is a rolling 12 months from when started, in my case it expired last October & I've just restarted end March, we don't have stickers, as if by magic the bin folk know where to empty. When they missed mine for a month or more a year or so back I was given an extension to make up for it, seems to be more flexible than your council, it's run from County level, but it's twice the price @ £70, than yoursAs mentioned over to Son + family today, so meals are hopefully hot cross buns, simnel cake & Easter eggsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1

Good morning everyone,
Misty with a heavy frost first thing here but it's lovely and sunny now.
Elder son and DIL-to-be are popping by to pick up some boxes they still have in my garage, I've not seen them in person for a couple of months so I'm looking forward to a socially distanced catch up in the garden.
Tesco delivery is due soon but apart from that I want to make the most of the sunshine.
Toasted hot cross buns with cheese for lunch, my favourite way to have them. Dinner is tbc.
