How disappointing Farway, surely the whole point of these meals is that you shouldn't have to trim and pick over the meat!

The last time I had chicken that bad Farway was when I picked up chicken leg (drumsticks) fillets rather than thigh fillets and they were full of white sinews and not nice, sounds like what you were given
Sounds right, it looked like the bone was removed and that's it. Although it was only a free trial free pack and I was 90% certain to cancel after trial anyway, but this has convinced me, can't be A***d worrying if a delivery will need extra prep etc, as Caron rightly says, just not what it's about

On better news, my runner beans are up and away on the window sill, although it'll be a while before they go out
Lunch today is very last of the BLT sarnies
Dinner, it's the Waldorf salad pre pack, I'll start a bit earlier & make sure to pick over the chicken thigh pack first, says it;s diced but who knows? I can spot white bits in there already which is either fat or skin, bleeeugh :s

    Good morning everyone,
I fancy making the gnocchi too Brambling though agree green doesn't sound appealing. If I cba I might give it a bash next week when I'm due to be CFO as my son isn't keen on gnocchi.
If the idea of the pre-prepped meals appeals Farway could be worth seeing if there are any offers about for some the other ones. When they had exams due my son and DIL-to-be used Gousto a few times and were very happy with it.
Bright, breezy and baltic here this morning. Looks lovely but too cold to want to be out for long. Yesterday was the same, my sister popped by while walking her pooch yesterday for a garden visit and quick cuppa, even though we were both well wrapped up we abandoned our natter after about 20 mins as it was too cold for lingering. Her wee pooch is just charm personified, hard to believe that 6 months ago he was a street dog riddled with parasites and terrified of people!
I'm still feeling a below par after my jab, I did very little yesterday and I think today may well be more of the same.
LO lamb stir fry for lunch and  Nigel Slater's pasta, peas and pancetta for dinner..

It was snowing again earlier, like sleet, really.

I had pitta bread and salad for breakfast and then I've been batch cooking. I made vegetable and lentil soup, roasted chickpeas and potato wedges. I'm having the wedges with seasoning, brown sauce and a salad with pickled cabbage and half the chickpeas.

I will have HM soup and bread tonight. Oh, yes I had some crisps too.

  • Good evening everyone, back to CFO land for me. Hope everyone had a lovely Easter 🐣

Filled pasta, leftover roast chicken, tomatoes and sweet corn for lunch. Just had cumin roasted carrot, lentil and feta salad - leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Heating has gone back in today it was cold first thing and we had a little sleet as well late afternoon

I made a large batch of turkey broth with the stock I made yesterday, I meant to add dumplings but forgot 🙄 it's very tasty if i say so myself 😁 the farm shop doesn't always sell the drumsticks which are from locally farmed turkeys and very good valve for £1.50, usually 6 portions with added veg already in the fridge so very good value.  I'll freeze a couple of portions as I've no RMs in the freezer

Dinner was LO sweet n sour pork, a freezer rummage produced blackberries so i made a small apple and blackberry crumble  - I had to use the cooking apples  😋 I misjudged a little (the topping was thrown together  :D )  and it could of done with more topping it was missing that lovely soggy bit between the fruit and crumble which was probably better for waistline 🤔

    Good morning everyone,
I'm feeling less blah than the past two days so the post-jab side effects seem to be settling, just need aching joints to ease. Freezer sorting for me today, I had hoped to get it done earlier in the week but just couldn't find the oomph. I'll do it in bits over a couple of days so it isn't too onerous. I wonder what UFOs I'll find.  ;)

The boiler company called yesterday and my new system is being installed on the 19th of April.  :D

Up early for hospital appointment, now back and thinking about lunch, but it's blooming cold out there, we even had a dash of snow yesterday evening and a hard frost overnight

The last pre prepped meal pack was OKish, had to trim the chicken chunks but no where near as bad as the previous effort.

Thanks, I only went for the pre pack 'cos it was a freebie but having tried I can't say the idea really appeals to me, seems like having dog & then barking yourself, still having to cut & cook it etc. Should I fancy something different I'd probably opt for frozen MFOs, but posh ones from the likes of Cooks

Lunch I'm looking at tin of H's Cream of Tom soup with old HM bread dunked in
Dinner, not quite sure, I have Covid jab part 2 later this afternoon and then pick prescription up, so I'll be next door into Costcutter where I may find YS dinner, or not

If nothing in CC then it's frozen pizza I think

I just went for a walk and to the shops and to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription. They were so slow!

It's so chilly again. I'm going to have soup for lunch.
