I woke up to hard frost here as well Farway and a cold wind, luckily I only had to go as far as the bin, the heating was needed again today 😐
That's quick for the boiler Caronc, someone is obviously organised up there 🙂
I chased the label for my garden bin again this morning, spoke to a different person and persuaded her that she couldn't have spoken to anyone from my house yesterday unless the cat as learnt to talk 😼. Repeated the whole saga and she promised to 'call me back later' when I called back 4.30pm I was told off by her colleague for chasing as 'Sarah doesn't work afternoons' 😡 maybe 'Sarah' should have managed my expectations as this is my third conversation with them and the error is all their doing 🙄
The clever talking cat joined my zoom call this evening the others were 'delighted' that my voice was coming out of his lordships bum 😳 in the end I had to bribe him with dreamies to get rid of himself was feeling very sociable
Lunch was a portion of turkey soup, this is a very tasty batch 😁 dinner was a CBA cheese and onion omelette, AF chips and salad with the last crumble for pud 😋

Yep, frost here this morning, most inconvenient for the one day I needed the car at 7.30...
Lunch was leftover carrot, lentil and feta salad (in a lunchbox as it was an office day). Was very glad of my HM RM of chicken and root veg stew tonight, just cooked some green beans to go with. Why is talking to people in real life so exhausting?!1 -
'morning, Covid jab number two went well, it's very well organised where I go. Slight sore arm only but had bit of a headache during the night but fine nowMust be something going around in pharmacy Wednesday, mine normally texts me when it's ready [sent electronically to them from Dr] but no text after eight days so that's why I popped in. Seems it had been ready since before Easter but the bit about texting me was omitted from label.
One of life's little mysteries
Brambling, how very dare you expect town hall clerks Local Government Officers to follow commercial working practices, poor girl's probably off with stress now you're bullying and harassing her[It's a joke BTW before anyone jumps]I finished up with frozen pizza last night, no tempting YS in CostcutterToday however is a better food day, HM ciabatta in the Panny, hopefully ready for lunchAlso halved the FR on offer gammon from W8rose, one bit in freezer other in the oven as i typeAll being well it's ham sarnie for lunchAnd whoever had a crumble the other day, snap, I defrosted own stewed apples & blackberries from last summer, they'll go into a crumble once the gammon comes out but I'll make sure there's plenty of crumble toppingI have packet of RM custard somewhere, and if I fail to find it there's some XCFO posh ice cream lurking in freezerDinner, easy one, some ham, eggs & frozen chips followed by crumbleEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens2 -
Good morning everyone,
Yes Brambling I've been impressed by how quickly it's all moved, apparently the window between first contact and their post-install inspection should be no more than 12 weeks though I'd been told with the COVID back log it might be a wee bit longer but it doesn't seem as though it will.
Glad you're okay after jab 2 Farway, my arm is no longer sore but my joints are still aching and I could sleep for Scotland though feel okay in myself IFYSWIM.
Know what you mean about RL conservations being exhausting JKS, I'm very out of practice these days with anyone other than close family and friends.
Cold, gloomy, wet and rainy here today, really not very pleasant at all, I hate when you pretty much need a light on all day.
Freezer tidying is in progress - I discovered 8 chicken carcasses (a mix of cooked and raw), 6 sets of lamb leg bones, a cooked turkey carcass, a bag of bacon ends and 4 beef bones. No wonder I was struggling to find space for other stuff! The chicken bones have been popped in the fridge overnight to defrost and I'll get stock made once I've roasted the raw ones. I'll work my way through the rest over coming days.
LO rice and beans for lunch. Dinner is tbc probably frittata or similar.

The 'bullying' worked Farway
phone call first thing to say sticker was in post and she would message the bin men to ensure they empty it tomorrow (we shall see
) It only took 5 phone calls but she was the first one to say 'not sure why we did that' the first person I spoke to at first blamed me and then the person whose details I was previously sent as 'she had used my address and caused this....'
You must have a lot of room left in the freezer if you've removed 8 chicken carcasses Caronc plenty of stock for weeks of soup thereshould keep you out of mischief for a while, I glad you're almost fully recovered from the jab.
Farway I don't need one just yet but I had a quick look and it seems that a lot more slots are available here for W8itrose over the next couple of week, I'm assuming people are going out more now. I won't need a 'big' shop for a while and plan to go to the farm shop for a top up of fruit and veg when needed as I'm working thought the freezer and larder cupboard, if needed they have a really good butcher with local meat as well
Lunch was another portion of turkey broth followed by a small portion of stewed apple and blackberry which didn't go in the crumble, I enjoyed it cold from the fridge
Dinner will be a piece of pan fried hake (freezer dive) with salsa verde, new potatoes, tenderstem broccoli and french beans

Good evening, Thursday already 🤨
Tin of lockdown 1 soup for lunch, sainsburys pea and ham, not one to buy again...
Smoked mackerel pitta pizzas with salad and coleslaw tonight - leftovers will do a couple of days lunches 😜1 -
I walked to three shops trying to find a certain cereal yesterday and now I fancied toast this morning.
Its lovely and sunny and doesn't feel all that cold. I'm going to have a bath and go for a walk.0 -
Bright & sunny start to the day, even warm enough for me to put some plants outside to start hardening offWith the Spring like weather I've taken a posh FR lamb chop out to defrost for dinner, and looking at the forecast also taken out FR diced beef for a warming casserole & dumplings tomorrowThanks for the update on W8rose slots brambling, like you I'm not due a big shop just yet, I keep peeking at Asda but they still seem short of basics like milk, I would prefer W8rose TBH except for the delivery slots problemOn subject of delivery the FR local meat people have changed tack again, they went for yearly delivery ticket but I see have now reverted to include minimum £35 order with free delivery over £70 I think. Which suits me, not that I need another meat order for a bit, I seem to be twice a year so farThe gammon I had yesterday was theirs, very nice toDid anyone watch "Remarkable places to eat" on BBC2?They were eating Panage New Forest pork which is what I buy in season,Plus they went to a trout smokery which has tempted me to try some should I come across it once Farmers Markets get going again, with my credit card on high red alertmeanwhile back to today's foodLunch, my ciabatta turned out very well, using the on offer W8rose Canadian flour, so it's a sarnie I think maybe splurge out & open tin of tuna + some Mayo fillingDinner, the defrosted then grilled lamb chop, probably with boiled "baby" spuds, steamed broccoli, carrots and some frozen beans?Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens2

Good morning everyone,
No I've not watched that one yet Farway, hope you find some smoked trout soon it's one of my favourites. You could always melt your credit card online - these folk are rather goodBarony Country Foods | Traditional Smokehouse | Scotland
Back to bright and frosty here this morning after a rather wet and wild day yesterday.
Freezer has been refilled though I'm not completely happy with how I've got it organised however I'll wait until I've converted all the bones and carcasses to stock before re-doing it.
Tesco delivery is due soon and once I've got it put away I'll see if it's warm enough to have a potter in the garden.
LO frittata in a roll for lunch and dinner is tbc, probably breaded haddock.2 -

occasionally they sell smoked trout in the farmers market I do treat myself if they do
Caronc i was thinking of frittata for lunch tomorrow as I've plenty of eggs and LO veg and potatoes in the fridge you may have confirmed that decision
Lunch time was the last of the turkey soup (one portion frozen). Dinner was spaghetti bolognese, I wanted easy LOs for tomorrow dinner as I'm working from lunchtime and although I'm supposed to finish at 6.30pm if IT have problems rebooting systems it has been as late as midnight 🙄 i padded the mince out with lots of veg so ended up with three portions, the last went in the freezer. I had managed to eat down all HM RM but have put two in this week, work is due to get really busy if our upgrade actually goes live in a month so they will come in handy UHT seeing as we are 18 months behind schedule it may not happen 😬Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0
