  • Well, was convinced I’d posted earlier but apparently not...

That starter platter looks right up my street caronc. Glad it was a good evening 😀

Mushrooms and fried egg on toast for lunch in a break from diy-ing (too snowy for a walk and there’s only so much sitting on the sofa watching box sets to be done 😂). Sweet potato and chorizo hash for dinner - a perfect recipe as it only makes one portion...

The snow never settled here, and this morning is hard frost, blue sky & sun. Good for a wrapped up walk for those able to do so
Greenbee, I've had no trouble with SM delivery slots so far this year, but I'm not tied to a particular day or time due to work etc so that may be why
Talking of which I'm starting to make up my next list, plenty in for CFO but some things are getting low, or decided I'd like some, for instance  leeks which were mentioned on here a day or so back
Food today is very undecided, salmon fillet salad is tempting but unsure, could be a stab & ping if CBA arrives
Lunch, probably a PB baguette with cheese & something filling

    Good afternoon everyone,
Locally delivered services only I'm afraid Brambling, coordinating that was difficult enough  :D  ;)
No more snow here but it has thawed and refrozen numerous times and it's treacherous outside.
I put together a pot of cream of tomato soup earlier loosely based on the Slimming World recipe involving a tin of baked beans. A mug of that and a cheese and serrano ham toastie  will be  lunch.
It's Burns night this evening, no drams as I'm not keen on whisky but we are having "Balmoral Chicken" (chicken stuffed with haggis and wrapped in bacon) with mash, neeps, cabbage and peppercorn sauce. There are two meringues left and 1/2 tin of fruit cocktail so a quick pud if desired can be put together with some ice cream as we used the LO whipped cream yesterday.
  • Gorgeous sunny but cold day here, the snow’s not gone far yet. Managed 20 minutes fresh air at the end of my working day 😀
Freezer stash soup (broccoli and Stilton) for lunch. Leftover butter beans and roast vegetables from the harissa lamb the other day, served with halloumi was dinner.
  • Loving the birthday platter - might become a tradition for your family Caronc!
Farway how is your sister doing?

Snow here today and minus 18 - snow isnt settling; just blowing around .
Using up the fridge items this week; dinner had been poached eggs and tomatoes on toast. Tea will be some leftover cubed beef and mushrooms turned into beef stroganoff over pasta.  Looks like lots of stir fry/curry/stew type meals for us lol!

Happy Burns Night Caronc I may have to venture to a SM at the weekend to see if there is any YS haggis, I'm also out of black pudding  :)

i think we had a dusting of snow between closing the curtains last night and going to bed followed by a hard frost, I do miss going to the office but not clearing the frost in the morning   :)

i brought eggs eggs in the farmers market on Saturday and then 'found' the carton in the fridge so scrambled eggs for lunch today, I also boiled the remaining ones which will do for a couple of lunches this week.  Dinner was the last of the roast pork cold with mash potatoes, LO green veg and HM pickled red cabbage

@Farway - I'm not even seeing any slots to be picky about! I just get either 'fully booked' or 'unavailable' on Waitrose (my deliveries come from Petersfield), and Tesco (Winnall) is also fully booked. Ocado had some slots when I looked on Sunday morning. But I've decided to see how long I can manage before I actually NEED to stock up, as some of the freezer and cupboard contents are getting a little elderly...

Oh, I've not bothered looking at W8rose since I bought a year delivery pass at Asda in Dec, maybe that's why I see loads of slots?
However I can also see loads at Iceland but they do have a limited range so if you need something specific it may not be stocked
PS, just checked on W8rose [it'll be Havant], despite me being on their priority list the first available is after 9pm on the 8 Feb :( Thank heavens I have alternatives

    Meals today
Lunch another PB baguette, getting into use up mode now as BB date is approaching, these are the XCFO stock
I think with cheese & pickle filling
Dinner, also in GBee mode and using some freezer stuff up, it'll be W8rose frozen liver & mash MFO, plus I'll steam some fresh cabbage & limp fresh carrots with some frozen green beans to make a meal of it

    Good morning everyone,
Glad your family are on the mend Farway, hopefully it will be a full and quick recovery.
Heavy sleety rain here today and only just above freezing. Looks set to stay for a few days too!
We really enjoyed the Balmoral Chicken last night, I decided to make a big one to slice rather than individual ones and that worked really well. There's some left which will be sliced for lunchtime sandwiches to have with the remaining HM tomato soup.
Smoked Haddock fishcakes for us tonight, I cooked extra mash yesterday to make them, with a chive & parsley sauce using the poaching milk, roast broccoli and green beans. For no good reason I've not made fishcakes for ages so I'm looking forward to them.
  • Good evening. Is it just me or are the days really all blending into one now 🙄? Damp, grey weather didn’t help my motivation today...at least the rain will wash the remaining snow away.

Lunch was a jacket spud and I made Thai red prawn curry for dinner (no leftovers ☺️)
