  • Oh yes, I love a leftover (feel so at home here) 😛
Grey, damp and windy day here. Did manage 20 minutes of fresh air between zoom meetings to stop me becoming permanently attached to my home office chair and screen...
Lunch was leftover frittata, which was made from the leftover butternut squash of course. Dinner was salmon, new potatoes, baby sweetcorn, green beans and sugar snap peas.

I've said this before Farway - please keep the bad weather your side of the border 🙂☔️💦💨🌬 at least we seem to be missing the worst of it down here.

I hope nobody here is under risk of flooding. i hope the jab went ok

Lunch was a very nice broccoli and leek soup with a few leaves of kale thrown in, I've no blue cheese so I stirred in some grated cheddar into my mug.  Dinner was a lamb steak with new potatoes, French beans and tenderstem broccoli (a green day today) LO veg and soup for another day, I may make a frittata as I've plenty of eggs 🙂

Bright but breezy this morning, watching the news the floods & weather looks bad further North, must be awful if it happens, the falling snow looks pretty but knowing when it melts means flooding your house, awful

My jab went well, very organised, it was dark, windy & pouring down when I went, the car park marshals were still cheery though, as were the jabbers & other helpers, despite what must have been a long day for them, I noticed everyone had time to stop for a kind word, no air of rushing people through even though it was all timed in & out
I did wonder later if all the helpers were very aware that for many it may have been the first time out of the house since last March and a chat was an added health bonus?
All in all it was a happy atmosphere and everyone seemed to be glad to be part of it
    I had the Pfizer one

Meals for today, boring repeats, but the mention of lamb steaks has set me thinking, once the use ups have gone perhaps
Lunch, toast & jam, not exciting but all I fancy TBH
Dinner, use up more of the vegan sausages, with HM AF chips, eggs & open tin of beans
I bought some loose FR eggs from Costcutter on Tuesday, extra large, and I have to say they are nice ones, very unexpected.
I can see them becoming a staple despite being twice the price than large FR from Asda

    Good morning everyone,
Glad all went smoothly with the jab Farway
Cold, damp and very windy here this morning but it is supposed to stay mainly dry. Bathroom cleaning and dusting are on my "to do" and I must order some more logs.  Later I'll finalise tomorrow's Tesco order once I've had a chance to check our meal plan against what I already have in. I'm trying to minimise ad hoc trips to the SM by my son and cover as much as I can in the weekly delivery. We do usually need a top of milk and/or bread but that's just a quick pop in and out one evening when it's quiet.
HM soup again for lunch and stir fry veg, noodles and eggs for dinner this evening.
  • Dry and bright finally here, even saw the sun! Unfortunately no chance to get out in it today and it definitely felt cold when I answered the door to the grocery delivery.

Leftover (of course 😂) from the freezer, smoked haddock and leek risotto. It was yummy when I made it on NYE so looking forward to it.

Farway I pay more for eggs in the farms market than the SM but they are worth the extra money and I'm supporting a local producer who comes every week, although TBH I wouldn't go down to town on Saturday just for the eggs

Another busy day t work and I had to stand firm at 6.30pm and say I had enough 😐 I knew the 'one last thing' would take us to at least 7 as one of my colleagues can make something a lot more complicated than it should be.  I don't have the advantage of saying I have to go and feed children it seems his lordship isn't a good enough excuse 🙄

lunch was another portion of broccoli soup, I'm hoping I can repeat it as it's very nice, but as it was thrown together yesterday lunchtime not always easy duplicated.  Dinner was lamb kidneys from the freezer in a mustard sauce, kidneys were brought from the farm shop and the butcher did all the prep work. Served with LO new  potatoes and veg from yesterday

    Good morning everyone,
Dry and bright here but cold, I've opened the windows to air the house but think I may need to close them soon as it's decidedly chilly.
Tesco are due soon and once the groceries are stashed I'll make a start on prep for tomorrow. It's my sister's birthday as we can't go out myself and the kids are putting together a mock "restaurant at home" meal for us all. My younger son and I are in charge of starter and pud (HM bread & salmon pate and individual pavlovas) and my elder son & DIL-to-be the main course (lamb shanks). My elder son will be the socially distanced delivery guy and my nephew will set up at their place. Then we'll all get together virtually to have our meal and play Taskmaster. It won't be the same as a proper get together but hopefully the next best thing. I'm really looking forward to it.
Sarnie for lunch as the HM soup is finished and dinner will be the usual freezer rake while my son has a chippy.

Lovely frosty sunny day with blue sky, I popped out earlier to collect my prescription, and get more FR eggs
Brambling, agree about the eggs, and other produce, I used to get them local supplier from the green grocer but that is a trip into town, which I'm avoiding these CV days
I used to get local honey from him as well but that's another item that I have foregone with CV & online shopping

Ah yes, duplication is not easy following a bit of this & that recipe. I was thinking of trying to replicate my super cream of celery soup but I suspect it could be a let down
Today's food is rinse & repeat of yesterday
    Lunch, toast & jam
Dinner, the very last Vegan sausages, HM AF chips, eggs & LO beans.
Repetitive but tasty, getting used to the vegan bangers now, not that I'm going to buy anymore unless a super bargain

    Covid update
Daughter & SIL are left very short of puff, were hoping to get back to work but just no breath to do it, they couldn't even get to end to the road yesterday
Teenage Grandchildren just shrugging it off, lost taste & smell
Jabs mixed, mine and local here are going well, but report from ex brother IL, Manchester, it was chaos, he gave up after over a two hour queue in cold, because he ran out of time and had collect someone.
Seems it's all down to local organisations and if your local one is unable to organise a party in brewery a long wait may be ahead :s

Sounds like your daughter and SIL will need to take it easy for a while Farway, my brothers' 18 year old granddaughter was the same as your grandchildren just complaining of lost of smell and taste.

Caronc the birthday meal for your sister sounds lovely, such a good idea as well

A nice frosty morning today, it looked so pretty especially as I not driving anywhere at the moment 🙂 and so nice to be dry and sunny, just a shame that other than walking to T Exp for milk I was stuck inside.

I had a smaller broccoli soup for lunch so I could freeze a portion so had it with a crusty roll filled with Brie.  Thanks to an idea from JKS dinner was  a salmon and leek risotto, topped with parsley and lemon zest with French beans and tenderstem broccoli. And most surprisingly no LO risotto 😳

    Oh, Brambling I’m flattered ☺️
Spicy lentil and carrot soup from the freezer stash for lunch and then I too managed to make dinner that neither started nor ended with leftovers 😂 - creamy sausage, leek and mushroom pasta. Wine may also have been taken...
