Another overnight frost with promise / threat of snow maybe tomorrow but more likely to be rain this far southThank heavens the vegan bangers have all gone, at least with the meat ones I feel confident in freezing surplus for another day, I never checked if the vegan ones could be frozen as I never really wanted them hanging around foreverThat pasta combo sounds nice JKS, not that I have leeks or mushrooms available but I can dream. I may add some frozen chopped leeks to my next online list, dare not risk buying fresh on line and a pack would be too many CFOYesterday's lunch plan went to Plan B, the bread I had earmarked for toast had become a penicillin specimen, so binned it and had a PB baguette with cheese + salad fillingI will use the other PB baguette in the pack for same lunch todayDinner, about time I had fish & chips, it'll be frozen breaded formed cod fillet shaped
, HM AF chips + frozen peas
If I think of it I will get a LO frozen roast chicken 1/4 out to defrost overnight, along with some of the XCFO "free" stuffing and planning a roast tomorrow.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1 -
Good morning everyone,
I love leeks and mushrooms together
Yesterday I had some spare cooked salmon LO after making pate, just enough for CFO which was ideal as my son was having a chippy. I defrosted a wee tub of cheesy leek sauce, mixed the salmon and some peas through it and topped with some frozen mash. An almost instant CFO fish pie that I thoroughly enjoyed for dinner.
There's a few bits and pieces to sort out for tonight's "dinner party" including trying to find some cake candles that I'm sure I have somewhere, I need to be organised for 5 when my elder son will do pick up/drop off.
Lunch will be a salad sarnie and some fruit, something healthy before I no doubt eat too much this evening!0 -
Yes, leeks and mushrooms are great together but that pasta would work without the mushrooms Farway, it’s the sausages, leeks and mustard in the sauce that make it 😋Jacket spud for lunch as it’s a cold, snowy day here. Going to make harissa lamb steak with roasted vegetables and butter beans for dinner.Enjoy your dinner party caronc, it sounds great.1

Evening all 🙂
It's been a lovely day, very cold but dry which I'll take over rain. We are meant to be having snow tomorrow but as we are sheltered by the Downs it often misses us. I made the most of the nice day to take the car out to top up its battery, it's only done about 4 miles a week for the last 5 weeks 😳 I only did about 20 miles across country I did drive pass the farm shop but it had a full car park and about 10 people queuing so I just used it to turn around and came home via the town as I didn't need much so a quick trip to M&S to top up on fruit and veg and pick up venison steaks and eggs from the farmers market, I was only about 40 mins in town and that included waiting for the slow customer in the SM.
lunch was a bacon roll using the last of my farm shop bacon from the freezerI roasted a small pork joint for a roast dinner and although it was called a crackling joint I it failed, probably not a bad thing for my waistline 🙄 stewed apple and sultanas for pud

Snowing first thing but soon stopped & not settled, now just damp & dull outside, with rain for later, I'll leave some for you BramblingLuckily I remembered to get the 1/4 roast chicken out to defrost for today's dinner. The frozen stuffing I thought I had seems to have vanished so that's one ingredient less for dinnerLunch is LO cold pizzaDinner, all being well is full on roast chicken dinner, minus stuffing. The only fresh veg I have is limp carrots & cabbage but I do have frozen green beans and frozen Aunty B's roast spuds, should do fineEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1

Good afternoon everyone,
Snow here to today so everywhere looks lovely but I will be appreciating it from indoors!
Last nights "party" worked really well, my sister was delighted. The food was all gorgeous and we managed to co-ordinate the timings and socially distanced delivery without any hitches. It was a late and slightly boozy night so I'm for a quiet one today.
Brunch will be LOs and for this evening I've a packet of the turkey breast we sous vided at Christmas defrosting to put together a quick roast dinner. There are meringues left and some cream though we used all the fruit I had chopped and soaked in a little Triple Sec and Peach Schnapps so a tin of fruit cocktail may well be opened.

Do you do deliveries down south Caronc 🙂
Farway we had a hard frost overnight when I looked out at 1.30am I originally thought it had snowed and then heavy snow for a short while at 9am which was washed away by 10am i think we got away lightly as the local radio was listing issues on the roads due to snow in the county.
i was invited around to my weekly cuppa at my sister this morning which slipped into lunch, crumpets with melted cheese and one of my nephews HM chocolate cookies, funny enough I was thinking last night that I haven't had crumpets for months 🙂 dinner LO roast pork made into a Singapore noodle type thing.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin1 -
The snow was quite heavy here @Brambling (it started with thundersnow waking up the entire village at 6.30am) and we still have some left. I'm kind of hoping that either it has gone by the morning or there is lots more of it as I have an early dentist appointment which means driving over the south downs.
I've spent the weekend batch cooking and sorting the freezer. I now have a tidy freezer, a vague idea of what's in it, and lots of precooked meals including the lamb curry & rice I made yesterday and today's cottage pies and bolognese. Chicken carcasses are defrosting to make stock tomorrow, and I've nearly got to the bottom of the chest freezer. When that's empty and defrosted I'll start worrying about not being able to get a supermarket delivery. I can certainly survive for quite a long time before I'll run out of food.2 -
It often misses us Greenbee, I'm not complaining
I work 12-13 miles away and the last time it snowed there I left work to heavy snow slightly panicked as home is uphill and half way home there was a line in the road where the weather changed completely
