I hope the shoulder is better now Farway and you got the chance to have a catch-up nap 💤  I think the next series of Spiral starts on Saturday night BBC4

Great deal on the lamb Caronc too good not to buy 🙂

A freezer rummage produced a couple of boar sausages so it was sausage and onion sandwich for lunch. Dinner was chicken thigh fillets crumbled and AF with HM coleslaw and green beans

    Good morning everyone,
We have snow forecast for today and looking at the sky we may well get some. Hopefully it won't lie if we do.
My butchers order didn't appear yesterday but fingers crossed it appears today as it contains the meat for our New Year's day dinner. I'm intending to cook Beef Wellington but have will defrost duck breasts instead if the order doesn't arrive.
Lamb legs have been portioned and frozen. The house smells lovely this morning as I roasted the bones then popped them in the SC overnight for stock. While I was prepping the lamb I managed to nick my finger with the tip of the boning knife. It's a small cut but deep and it took ages to get it to stop bleeding!
Beige party food and picky bits for us tonight while watching a film. I'm not one to party on Hogmanay so the current restrictions don't bother me but I will miss our usual family get together tomorrow.

Another bright, sunny & frosty morning
I had a reasonable night's kip with my shoulder, still hurts when I make some movements but it's improving.
Still no idea how I caused it, like to know to stop myself doing it again

Last night's dinner went a bit further than picky bits. I found a 2 pack of M & S turkey parcel / Wellington type thing lurking deep in the freezer
Must have bought it on offer for 2018 [yep 2018 :o ] XCFO and never used. Turned out fine, I did think it may have dried out but it was OK, I had it with steamed cabbage, cauli & carrots + Iceland frozen roasties. I'll count that as my late XCFO 2020 dinner

I'm a bit off food, or more honestly off prepping food, so I've not had breakfast yet, only porridge that needs nuking but don't fancy it at this time
Soon be lunchtime and I have a posh mini Christmas pud & needs using BB single cream. These are looking like lunch :D
Dinner, could be cheese & crackers type ploughman thing

My broadband is very slow this morning, so should I vanish you'll know why

I hope your butcher delivery arrived Caronc

i had a broken night sleep last night someone was letting off fireworks at 1am and then there was a vocal fox outside barking. We've also have had regular fireworks since 5.30pm tonight, I assuming that's because no one will be up late

I realised I was out of potatoes, so first wearing of shoes since Saturday to drive to T Express, I've ended up with a big bag of them so I may have to share half with my sister. My foot still isn't right but at least the swelling had gone down enough to put a loose shoe on and drive, although it is a little achy now  :|

Lunch was a mug of veg soup. Dinner rump steak, AF chips and veg

    happy new year everyone

    Happy New year everyone,
Cold and frosty here today, it is - 4c just now and only to edge just over freezing this afternoon.
We didn't sit up to see the old year out, usually there's a fair number of fireworks at midnight but I didn't hear any this year just some early evening.
My butcher's order arrived in the afternoon and everything looks great. Some was able to go straight in the freezer and the rest I'll sort out today. There's a large log of Stornoway black pudding so I know what I'll be having for lunch. 😁
I'm on prep duty today for dinner - HM Beef Wellington, carrots, green beans, kale, spuds, celeriac chips and red wine gravy so fair bit to do. My son will do the final put together once I've got things underway. Family zoom this evening since we can't meet up in person.

    Happy New year everybody
There were a few midnight fireworks here but didn't go on for ages as previous years. I didn't stay up, they woke me up but not complaining, it's only once a year after all

I made sausage rolls yesterday, turned out fine but wouldn't win any prizes for best looking food
I have some puff pasty LO and I'm tempted to make cheese & onion pasty things for tonight, checked You Tube and look easy enough if slightly faffy prepping

Lunch will be LO cold HM sausage rolls, I've run out of brown sauce so they'll just not be the same. Now we've left EU I can blame Brexit I suppose :D
Dinner, could be HM C & O pasty things and maybe open tin of beans, or just eat them in my CFO paws

    Happy New Year all :)

there seem to to be a lot of midnight fireworks last night the first woke be up about 3 minutes to midnight, luckily this cat isn't bothered by them

my sister and nephew came around for lunch today so nice and easy roast lamb with all the trimmings followed by a lazy meringue layered dessert with blackcurrants which was half price from Iceland and very nice as the didn't make the blackcurrants too sweet 🙂

we played board games afterwards although his lordship 'helping' by getting on the table, laying on the board and playing with pieces 🙄 caused some issues. He decided being a PITA was more fun than going to sleep. My sister than left with half the soup I made this morning, LO dessert and some fabric from my stash (which will come back to me to make cushion covers if the colour is ok) 🙄

no dinner other than a cuppa

Dull and damp start to the day, but a hint of blue to the West so who knows?
My shoulder is still a bit poorly but easing, just matter of time I guess

I made the cheese & onion pasties yesterday, turned out quite well I thought for a first attempt, even went as far as an egg wash prior to baking
Should I ever repeat them I'll use more cheese & less mash in the filling, I never measured the amounts it was all by "looks about right"

Lunch is last of the HM sausage rolls. Not too keen on the sausage meta TBH, it may be posh Free Range local etc but I did find odd lumpy mystery bits in it. :s
Even though it was "free" I will not get it again
Dinner, use up, I've a stale HM loaf crust, and some LO streaky rashers, all tending towards cheesy beans on toast with couple of fried eggs on top + grilled streaky on the side
Quick N Easy plus clear outs

Here's my C & O pasties. used my Lidl dumpling maker thingy to crimp them, makes a far tidier job of it than my freestyle attempts
