Threepenny_bit I grow American Land Cress in pots which is very similar to watercress but needs to be picked young as it can get tough, not sure if you can get the seeds in Canada. I've been known to buy a bunch of water cress and sit and eat it at my desk much to amusement of my colleagues.
Caronc that's the kind of thing my sister would suggest as wellyou were busy today, my nephews can also put away a large quantity of PIBs I think last year we made about 60 and the eldest complained there wasn't enough LOs
Farway can I assume you're going into tier 3 as part of Pompey?
I luckily remembered that the local garage put in a post office counter about 18 months ago, only the basic stuff but no queuing when I went in to post a parcel 😁 since our main post office closed and put in two counters in WHS there are always queues in town which at the moment is worst than usual. I also picked up my prescription, there was a 15 min queue outside the chemist but the sun was shining for a change so no hardship to stand and wait 🙂
I got to catch up with my eldest sister this afternoon with a long phone call, they've been shielded since March, she's 80 next week and it will be the first Christmas in nearly 60 years where it will be just the two of them, she tells me she doesn't know how to cook Christmas for two, my BIL will get fat or my niece and nephews will be taken food parcels through the patio doors as they aren't allowed in. My sister has always been the one to have a houseful of family and friends at Christmas.
lunch was jacket potato with cheese and HM coleslaw. Dinner cauliflower and broccoli cheese with bacon and as I can't make just one portion of cauliflower cheese there will be LOs for lunch tomorrow 🙄 I used Delia's failsafe all in one cheese sauce method and managed no manky saucepan which is always a bonus I was maybe a little too generous on the cheese 😁

Very windy outside, with very wet on the wayBrambling said:Farway can I assume you're going into tier 3 as part of Pompey? The only slight bummer may be Christmas because walking along the seafront without toilets or cafes could be awkward these days, I saw on Beeb Breakfast doing an interview from a seafront cafe, which I know, would've been a nice sheltering spot.My planned roast dinner failed, so much went on here that time went by & it was too late to prepare. I roasted the chicken but had it with AF HM chips & some baked beansThe goings on were the T3 announcements with everyone checking, plus my CFO neighbour, slipped on wet leaves on her path & broke her legShe is now marooned upstairs [where loo is] and her planned holiday with daughter & GD to Cyprus next week is binned, not that she was that keen on going with the potential Covid 'planes etc so in a way it removes that problem & replaces it with anotherFortunately the neighbours the other side are fit and helpful, with her daughter is about half an hour away by car.I've offered to bung her shopping on my Asda delivery if requiredAll of which demonstrates how CFO lives can be upended so quickly and the need to have a store cupboard stocked upI've just taken a premix loaf out of the Panny, in time for lunchLunch will be some cold roast chicken + salady bits sarnieDinner, will be the roast dinner 24 hours late, steamed Savoy, cauli & carrots, with frozen roast spudsAnd as mentioned yesterday stuffing if I can get a bit of it defrostedI may also try & prise some frozen pigs in B out and pop them in with the spudsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1

Good morning everyone,
Oh your poor neighbour, great though that neighbours have rallied round to support her.
Wet and miserable here today. Tesco are due in a bit though I've had a text saying they maybe up to 30 mins late. I'm not going anywhere so not a problem.
I suspect we may follow Northern Ireland and go into lockdown from the 28th. Not ideal but probably what's needed tbh though it won't be popular.
My younger son returns today ending my short spell of CFO for another while. LO bangers in a sarnie for lunch and dinner is tbc possibly AF fish and chips though we might get a takeaway as a treat.1 -

I assume by locking down on the 28th they are hoping it will stop NYE parties
Bad news about your neighbour Farway wet leaves are a bad as ice
i was offered a iceland delivery slot for next week, I did originally take it and then realised I was filling it with Christmas naughties rather than 'proper' food so cancelled it. I'm at my sister's Xmas and Boxing Day and I can pick up anything I need from the T Expresses both are within walking distance and the waistline will thank me 🤐
lunch was LO cauliflower cheese. I found a duck leg in the freezer when rummaging, YS or I wouldn't have brought it😁 so had a mini roast dinner, I picked up AB frozen roast parsnips on offer to try rather than doing my own and was surprised on how much fat came out of them, once they are finished I think I'll be back to buying fresh parsnipsLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin1 -
Mild with bits of sun this morning, nothing to get excited aboutLast night's trial Christmas dinner was OK, discovered I need to cook the posh Pigs IBs longer to crisp up the streaky and not 100% convinced I like the flavour of them, probably too posh & traditional for my taste. Still for "free" can't really complain & they will get eatenThe "free" stuffing was also in the OK category, I suspect it's me TBH, it's not my normal Paxo styleI've just made the final additional / amendments to my online Asda Christmas order, somehow a Viennetta on offer slipped into the basket, along with extra mushrooms for making a pateThey tell me one of my mince pie selections is OOS along with brown sauce, but delivery is not until Monday so I'll take my chances on the subsAt least Asda has let me check out with OOS items unlike W8rose computer that just says "No"Lunch, another cold roast chicken + salady bits sarnieDinner, more LO cold roast chicken, I think with salad & possibly a baked spudI'll try the spud in nuker first then case harden it in the AF as someone here mentionedEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1

Good afternoon everyone,
Just a quick hi and bye as we are in the middle of the final push to get the kitchen and the rest of the house scrubbed and sparkling. That said I've had to put my feet up for a bit as I was getting very unsteady. I've bypassed lunch in favour of a cuppa and a lie down and will have a snack and some fruit when I get up instead. Southern fried chicken, baked spuds, coleslaw and salad for dinner this evening.
