Dull morning with heavy rain due later, which may be a bummer because my meat delivery is also due, fingers crossed they both don't occur at the same timeNice turkey packing Caron, until my delivery arrives I'm not 100% certain it'll squeeze in, the only large lumps are1kg gammon, rolled stuffed turkey joint & beef, the rest should slot in somehow & somewhereBrambling, your egg mention has reminded me, mine are getting on a bit and XCFO pickled eggs
is whispering in my ear. I'll check vinegar later in case I need to add a bottle to the Monday list
Lunch, has to be toast with something now the HM loaf is starting to go staleDinner, not quite sure, with the meat delivery it should be flash frozen but just in case I may have something that is notOtherwise, thanks Brambling, it'll be cheesy onion omelette, including the YS button mushrooms, with AF HM chips & maybe open a tin of beansEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good morning everyone,
No turkey shortage here as far as I know Brambling though too late to pre-order one I think in most places. I would imagine the SMs will start to get their fresh ones in at the weekend.
Oh pickled eggs Farway, lob me one if you make a batch please. Hope you don't have to do too much freezer tetris.
Looks as though it may be Friday before my son returns, an urgent unexpected job came in and as he's in the area it made sense for him to pick it up. I'm pooch sitting again today and just waiting for him to arrive. Corned beef sarnie for lunch and dinner is tbc possibly bangers and mash.1 -
Hi guys.Hope you're all ok .
I've just managed to get an Iceland slot for next week, so have been adding lots of treats to my trolley, inc cheeses n veg Indian snacks 😋
I don't have the hassle of man handling a Turkey, or an other meat thankfully, but will have a nice brie n cranberry filo parcel with all the veg, on the big day.
I'm making a 3 bean chilli later, that I'll have with crunchy bread.
Still no sign of PN? Hope She's ok

Good evening everyone,
A brie and cranberry parcel sounds yummy CG
My nephew was very late finishing work tonight so small dog has just been collected. Not that said pooch was at all bothered as he was happily curled up on my sofa cushions! Obviously helping me all day is exhausting and it's nasty outside lol!
Large leg of lamb has been dissected and turned into more CFO/small household friendly portions and SO smoked salmon again portioned into more user friendly amounts. Both have been vac-packed and wodged neatly popped in the freezer. I had hoped to get as far as prepping squillions of kiltie sausages aka pigs in blankets and sausage stuffing but didn't get that far, though did get a butcher's order place which 🤞 should arrive before the 30th. If not New Year will need a plan B. Steak & gravy pie, AF chips, peas and corn for dinner.1 -
Candy I think she is still showing as banned, it doesn't say if permanent it temporarily
I've never been convinced about pickled eggs 🤢 my mum always made them at Christmas along with the onions
My furry alarm clock woke me too early this morning especially as I'm not workingI've threatened him with cutting off his supply of dreamies if he does it tomorrow 🙀
I drove out to pick up a part of my sister's present this morning, something for her garden, she pointed it out online and I recognised the name of a local company who use to have a stall in the farmers market, so gave them a call to see if I could pick it up from their workshop rather than spend £6 delivery (very MSE 😁) not only did I save the delivery but he took £3 off the online price 😁 so £9 less than buying from Et*y or *bay it's only 8 miles away and near the farm shop so 2 birds with one stone. I was glad he gave be good directions I had to refrain from buying anything for me, maybe after Christmas. My week veg brought from the farm shop with rhubarb and cooking apples and from their butcher some proper bacon, sausages, pork and apple burgers as well as a large turkey drumstick for soup, the last one I got from there made 6 generous portions of soup and it's only £1.50, free range turkey from a local farmer
I used the eggs I boiled yesterday to make a egg and watercress sandwich, the English watercress is a lot tastier than the SM bag stuff 😋 dinner was the last of the beef stirred fried with vegetables and added to rice

Good morning everyone,
Brambling luck you, friends' of mine have a burn (brook) at the bottom of their garden and have managed to get a bed of watercress established. It's gorgeous, night and day taste-wise to the SM stuff. Hope furry alarm clock got the message this morning.Turkey drumsticks or thighs are such good value and turkey soup is one of my favourites.
Dry here just now after some wild weather overnight. Today's cleaning challenge is to thoroughly scrub out the bathroom. While the kitchen work was ongoing it's only had a quick going over and it's showing! Later I hope to get the kiltie sausages made up and maybe the stuffing prepped.
Sarnie or toastie for lunch and probably bangers and mash for dinner.1 -
Sun's back, with a few showersGood bit of local shopping there Brambling, and gives another option for you.The posh meat fitted into the freezer with space to spare, which means I can safely look for bits / offers, for instance my frozen roasties are running low, and more pizzas will not go amissToday is roast the W8rose chicken day, I've got a roasting bag so I'll use thatPlus my nice fresh Savoy, cauli & carrots, I may even try out the posh stuffing which was part of yesterday's delivery, just depends how easy it will divide, at present it is a 500g frozen solid cylinderLunch, last of the stale HM loaf, toasted, with ????Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Busy day yesterday doing paperwork at home and today is more of a rest day lol! I have a FaceTime meeting this afternoon with my daughter and we are making weight watchers friendly pizza bases together ready for tea. I need to shuffle the freezer a little and find some cooked chicken to put on top of mine - I know I squirrelled a little bag of cooked chicken away0

Good evening everyone,
Hope you enjoyed your time with your daughter threepenny_bit, isn't video calling marvellous for keeping in touch when you can't actually meet up.
It's turned into another manky night and much colder too.
My bathroom has been scrubbed within an inch of it's life and I've put together , vac packed and frozen 108 (no not a typo!) cocktail -sized pigs in blankets. That should cover us, though the boys can shift a huge amount and I'm partial to a few as well.I don't make a buffet or sandwiches on Christmas day evening and we tend to have PIBs, cheese, sweeties etc, while playing games/watching TV instead. I've frozen them in sensible amounts though in case our plans end up having to change due to COVID. The online butchers have confirmed delivery on the 30th, I ended up emailing to double check so hopefully we have couple of nice choices meat wise for New Years day. I usually make a steak pie and cook a joint of pork or ham but as it will just be the two of us we'll either make something "posh" for Hogmanay and make up a grazing board of lurking cold bits and party food on the 1st or vice versa. Neither my son or I are huge fans of steak pie but everyone else adores it. My sis was semi-jokingly suggesting I make small ones up and farm them out as apparently I make the best one ever. I've told her I can supervise by video if she wants but that's as far as it goes lol
Bangers and mash for dinner just to continue the sausage theme
