I've got milk jelly noted down as something to make at my NewHouse.... whenever that is found.

My recipes collection allows me to tag recipes, so for the last couple of months I've been tagging them with the tag NewHouse as things I specifically want to make again and don't want to forget that I want to :)  I nearly suggested it yesterday on this thread, but thought people'd think I was mad.  We used to just have jelly with the milk poured over the top, jelly, fruit, carnation at birthdays.

There is another product in the range, rarely seen, which is a thick cream.... I've got it noted to search for it at NewHouse as I think it's a great cupboard staple for when cream's called for in recipes.  I don't buy cream.....  the tins are 170ml (so smallish).

Carnation Extra Thick Cream: https://www.carnation.co.uk/products/evaporated-milk-and-cream/extra-thick-cream - it's 85p full price at Mr T, Sainsbobs, Morrisons and Asda.  I thought I'd keep an eye out for it in HomeBargains, B&M and similar.

I'm resigned to having to eat food I don't want, don't like.... I don't like those potato/sauce things I bought, but I've bought 10, eaten three so seven remaining.  Getting through the pouch rice, it's not as bad as it could be, but when you combine a pouch rice with the potato/sauce it's pretty minging.
I've only 10 packs of Bounty bars left. That means I've eaten 14 double-packs of bounty bars (28 individual bars) in four days :)

Today I've scoffed: 2 crumpets/marg/cheese; pack of 2 bounty bars; 1 pouch rice.

It's cold and wet here. It was peeing down earlier, now just raining.... else I'd have popped out for something from Iceland no doubt (a £1 cheeseburger pizza probably).

Milk poured over was one of out options, but of course in those days it was the top of the milk, the creamy bit at the top of real full fat heart stopping stuff
I've seen tinned thick cream but the price is silly when you can now buy real fresh stuff for much the same price or less
I suppose handy as a stand buy but I don't use cream anyway except maybe Christmas

Still no sign of my @sda parcel, not even left the depot according to the tracker.
Not relying on it, just don't want it showing up about eight tonight
Tipping down here, same as PN & Brambling, salad is now off the menu,
I still need to use up the cold LO salmon fillet somehow, could just defrost a couple of slices & pop it in a sarnie, sounds like heresy but CBA do do much else.

Love condensed milk.  That stuff is like crack to me.

I seem to have triggered a few memories with tinned fruit & Carnation, happy to help
Did anyone have jelly made with milk?
It turned sort of bubbly, presumably because it curdled not that a ten year old would sus that out

I still make milk jelly - I love it! I also make it with plain yoghurt but it doesnt turn out so bubbly! When Mum made it for us I loved the lime green jelly with milk best of all lol

For the record, this is how you do a boiled egg....
Get the egg (in your room) and the boiling device.  Get a clean/empty mug. Put some water and the egg in the boiling device.  Wash your hands and put your slippers on .... go down two flights of stairs, hoping nobody's using the kitchen.  Device into the nuker, set the timer.... and stand for 7 minutes. Meanwhile, fill the empty mug with cold water.  When the egg's cooked, remove from the nuker and run it under cold water for a bit, pop the egg into the mug of water and pop the mug into the fridge.  Rinse your boiling device.... and realise you forgot to bring your tea-towel with you so you have to stand and shake it a lot more than anticipated.  Back up two flights of stairs with boiling device, which you lay out on your tea-towel in your room to dry. Wash your hands (just in case).

Later on, when you want to make an egg sandwich .... wash your hands, slippers on... down two flights of stairs, mug out of the fridge, empty mug of water.... back up two flights of stairs with egg/mug.  Wash your hands, pop the wet mug onto your tea towel to dry. Shell the egg and make a sandwich.

PN, with that egg method I think I'd go without, however I realise just being able to use a clean fridge & kitchen is a big uplift from your previous place. PIA losing the shopping list, I know when I've had similar occasions it's just not the same

My W8rose delivery arrived, as did my Cupboard box from @sda. Luckily an hour apart
Said it before, but W8rose quality is very good, as it should be for the price.
The lettuce is big one, no limp & manky outside leaves, cucumber is a big 'un as well
All stowed away & FFingers in the freezer, still have to portion out the bangers & bacon for freezing

The @sda box is a nice surprise, some items I would be unlikely buy but it won't stop me using them.
Kenco Colombian coffee & Heinz chicken soup for instance. I suspect these are up subbing from the @sda branded ones, the boxes were clearance.
I've not priced it but I think it's a bargain for £15, all of it non perishable, especially for CFO cupboards

Lunch was defrost a couple of slices, then use with last of the salmon fillet with cucumber in a sarnie
Dinner, oven cook a couple of the tasty @sda special pork bangers, with HM AF chips, couple of fried eggs & maybe open a tin of beans
Last of the B & A crumble later if peckish

PS, I now have balsamic vinegar, and via @sda box a packet of peanut & raisin mix
