Weekly trip into town today and it definitely seems busier although there was only two people in the queue for Wilkos so went in for the first time in a couple of months, I picked up some shampoo and deodorant as my usual were both on offer as well as some other bits and bobs including a hanging basket liner for some tumbling tomatoes.  There's no such thing as a quick trip into town on a Saturday at the moment 😐 Fewer people than I expected wearing masks maybe because I only went into bigger shops, because of my asthma I choose not to wear one as it upsets my breathing and having checked on line it is advised not to. I do have a handmade one in my handbag just in case.

i did check out the garden centre after unpacking my shopping and there was a 10 minute queue to get in and a considerably longer one to pay, I managed to get the herbs I was after and picked up some slightly sad looking plants greatly reduced, my six foot azer was once a small sad plant so I'm hoping with TLC to turn these around and they can fill gaps in the front garden. They included a couple of camellias £3 each instead of £18 each and a tree peony 75% off. They still have limited stock and I overheard an assistant telling a customer that they were expecting bedding plants and some perennials but not sure when.  I did pick up a nice loaf from their small farm shop as I forgot when in town.

lunch was late nearly 3pm and I will admit to having a stinking headache and feeling a little ick when I was queuing to pay at the garden centre and realised I had only had one mug of tea and nothing to eat 🙄. Therefore lunch was bread and marmalade as soon as I got in and that followed by two mugs of tea and some headache tablets made me feel a lot better 😐

I brought prawns in town so added them to the smoke salmon and smoked pepper mackerel from the freezer to make Nelski's fish platter.  I picked salad leaves from the garden and made some coleslaw to go with it 😋 there's enough left for tomorrow and probably with some scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for breakfast as well 🙂

The sun looked promising first thing, clouded over now, but warm enough.
Shock horror. found one of my bananas has been chewed, arggh, hope it's not Ratty returned :'(But I can't think of any other rational explanation. Nothing else looks disturbed though
Bit of a bu66er if it is, I've still got LO poison & trap so I'm ready for rodent wars
With that possible bad news today will be tidy up kitchen day & wash up the perpetual "in soak" casserole dish ;)

Oh, I've always fancied a tree peony, not much space for one TBH but I bet I could squeeze a 75% off one in :)
Lunch will be last of the streaky B in a BLT sarnie
Dinner, will have some of the gammon I cooked yesterday, and if weather holds it'll be with salad, and possibly now Brambling has put the idea in my head, some HM coleslaw

Farway hope your critter hasn't returned are you sure you weren't a bit peckish and took a bite in the night :) Think I would be running for the hills if it was me but then I am a wimp with rodents. I strongly suspect I have some mice in the garage (there's a gap under the door to the outside) so my stocks in there are limited to things they wouldn't like dishwasher tabs and coffee. they seem to like crisps and bottles of lemonade that they chew through ....ewww

Brambling Its on the menu again for me for next week everything I love :) I got some cockles too to add to it.

Last night was Eurovision and a chicken tikka masala :)  I had a huge nan bread in the freezer so I added lots of butter and garlic til it was soaked ......mmmmm
Same again tonight with some chips to in dip too. Lockdown cooking for one aint so bad really

    Have a good day all

    Good afternoon everyone,
I do hope ratty hasn't returned Farway!
Last night's quiz was good fun and I managed not to disgrace myself coming third with only a point between me and second place. My elder son won by a mile though, he's a bit of a fact sponge so quizzes suit him well and his fiancee could vouch he wasn't cheating!!
Wet and windy here and that's before we've had the artichokes 😂😂
A day for pottering indoors for me though my son has just got wrapped up and is braving the elements for a walk. I did some chores this morning and caught up with the laundry. I really should tackle some ironing but cba so it can wait. Roast pork for dinner tonight with carrots, green beans, spuds, roasted artichokes and gravy. There will be LO pork, so earlier my son cooked some Jasmine rice to make veg fried rice to have with it tomorrow.

HM coleslaw made & maturing in the fridge, even though weather is dull it's quite warm outside so I've had to water the pots as we've no rain due for yonks apparently
I'll probably nuke one the frozen ready baked spuds to go with the gammon etc salad
