I just made up a batch of sandwiches for today. I made two tomato sandwiches and two salmon paste/tomato ones. They're wrapped in foil for later. I'm sitting eating one round of paste/tomato sandwiches now.
I nearly bought a cucumber... to make cucumber sandwiches.... but then changed my mind. Maybe another day ... well, another week of cucumber sandwiches
Without spread for the bread the fillings I pick/buy to make sandwiches have to be moist.5 -
Good morning all,
Cooking for one or two continues here. It would be a nice change to share with someone who actually has an interest in food for a couple of days but at least the HT is easy to cater for. I don't meal plan because I don't know what I'll fancy eating until the actual day, but I do have a book with all of the items in the freezer listed according to which drawer they're in. I did have a chest freezer when we lived in our previous (much bigger) house but to be honest my mind couldn't cope with the chaos of just chucking everything in together. I have a tall freezer now, with drawers. It works much better.
Today is a mostly CF2 day. Toast for me and croissants for the HT for breakfast. Lunch will be cheesy beans and toast for both of us and sausages (from the butchers), hash browns and baked beans for dinner.
PN we always used to have salmon paste sandwiches when we went on days out as children. I used to put my salt and vinegar crisps on my sandwich to make the salmon paste more bearable.

I've had toast and marmite and three cups of tea today.
I'm waiting in an Iceland online queue at the moment.3 -
All slots are fully booked! I have Tesco coming later anyway.
It's lovely and sunny still, but chilly.
I'm going to have a Wall's vegan sausage roll (if it arrives!) for my lunch.2025 GOALS

I think on my next outing.... I'll pick up a chicken paste. I've got stuffing here. I bet a paste pot + stuffing's nice
It's actually quite surprising how much fish/meat etc is in those little pots. One never expects a high %age when buying at 27p/pot, but they're not too shabby really. A pot is 75g and is 120-150 calories roughly per pot. One pot, with something added, does two good sandwiches. Without adding a 2nd item you're stuck deciding whether to waste it and have one fat sandwich from the whole pot, or be disappointed and skimp to stretch it to two thinner sandwiches. I've done all three now.... one pot, two sandwiches by adding in another ingredient is about right. Adding the tomatoes makes it take a hit on price though. Paste/bread is about 20p. Add in 3 mini plum tomatoes and you're probably adding 8-10p//round. I picked the mini plum ones as I make the sandwiches on my bed and the cheaper cherry tomatoes are quite squirty... and I didn't want to spray my fur blanket with tomato juice5 -
Good afternoon everyone,
I really like the baby plum toms from Tesco PN well worth the extra IMHO as they actually taste of something.
LOL CG must have been a quiet news day! My freezer lists have gone a bit to pot, I blame the fact I've not been cfo for nigh on 3 months now. I'll sort them when solo living resumes.
Sourdough as been baked and I was pretty pleased with result, not the prettiest loaf ever but the slice I had with my lunch tasted great. I can't see it lasting that long.... Ratatouille with sausage meatballs and pasta for dinner tonight.

I had the veg sausage roll, crisps and an apple.
I'm making roasted potatoes and onions with garlic asparagus tonight. Along with a chickpea salad with corn, cherry toms and cucumber.
Oh yes, I was going to make pickled onions too. I will do that now.
It's nice to have a fully stocked fridge and freezer again! There was only one item missing which was good.
