Caronc I hope your son wasn't too late last night
Farway I was lucky because i dropped my car off last night (and had one of theirs) they did my MOT and service this morning and closed the dealership and garage after i picked it up. He was aware that it was my only means of transport and would have needed to be put off road if the MOT wasn't done. A distance and loud conversation with my neighbour when i got back and he told me his daughter took hers in first thing and her garage was closed. I took the opportunity to pop into both the little co-op and T Express on the way back from the garage as I wanted to get some milk and see if there was much fruit or veg. I was lucky and got a lovely crusty round loaf and some milk in co-op their fruit and veg was almost empty there was savoy cabbage, sprouts, leeks and spinachT Exp had a lot better selection of fruit and veg so myself and the elderly friend I was also picking up bits for will be ok, as i also picked up some carrots, beans and salad bits for us. At 82 I was worried about the text which went 'you know I can go and queue at Sains between 7-8 some days' especially as i know she went for a paper at the weekend !!! I know two of her neighbours have also offered and are checking up on her. It gave us a variety as i split the packs and the cabbage between us, annoyingly as i dropped it off on her step and we chatted from a distance she remembered milk
that can wait until tomorrow rather than decanting some of mine. Luckily neither of us needed meat or chicken as I don't want to go to the main stores later
Unfortunately there was only 1 bottle of tonic and that was the expensive kind not very MSE but these are trying times and they had lemonsto me that came under the essential food shopping
Lunch will be on the run (well at my dining room table) as i took longer than planned when i picked up the car and will be HM minestrone soup (I broke up some spaghetti which had been lurking in the cupboard and needed using) with a slice of the crusty bread. I've taken out a fat pork chop from the freezer which will go will with the savoy cabbage and sprouts (just as well I'm CFO) and i have left over mash from last night I may use or save for bubble and squeak with a egg on top for tomorrow dinner

Good afternoon everyone,
Glad you got your car sorted out Brambling.
My son arrived here in the early hours with quite literally everything bar the kitchen sink. The chaos level in my house just now is quite horrifying but we'll get there! He lives quite near student halls and as he drove past there was lots of people packing cars obviously aiming to return to family last night. Once he was clear of the city the roads were fine though busier than you'd usually see. Both him and my sis are working from my dining room trying not to overlap on calls and Skype there have been a few interesting moments. The plumber is in her flat just now finishing up enough to let them move back in. He's there by himself and they are here so no distancing issues. They will be armed with disenfectant etc. and give the place a good scrub this evening then prepare to hunker down like everyone else.
In reality it's going to be a while before I'm CFO again so feel a bit of fraud posting on here but would miss the thread if I didn't so I hope no one minds. Lunch was salad wraps for us all and tonight my son and I will have something quick after we get the main areas of the house into some sort of order or enough at least that he can sort his possessions out at the weekend.5 -
You would be missed if you didn't post Caronc
. My manager has gone into the office but he's the only one in there and he said in the building of 500 there are 4 of them, we told him off but he said with his wife and son both on conference and training calls their comms can't cope with him working from home and he needs a quiet space for his skype calls with us. He lives jsut around the corner from he office but we said no excuse he should be following the rules

Turkey defrosted, I'll put it in a foil parcel to heat through in the steamer under the peas & green beansThere's no stuffing, I must have used it, not to worry. I may pop an onion in with Aunt B's spuds. Wish I had cabbage or some brassicas but I don't, not even frozen sproutsNumerus non sum4

Keep posting caronc. CF 1 times 2 here today. Yesterday we ate more or less the same, today it's been cereal and yogurt for me for breakfast, cheese and tomato toastie for lunch and will be fishcakes and beans for dinner.
The HT had croissants for breakfast, a cheese and ham toastie for lunch with a side of a few pringles and will be having sausage, hash browns and beans this evening.
I've cleaned the inside of the car - it was way past horrible but I don't like doing it when it's cold out. I've also started cleaning the garden furniture. Tomorrow I'm hoping to fix the front garden which needs weeding and some of the plants cutting back.3 -

It's such a gorgeous day today!I hear "authorities" complaining about people not distancing themselves when out, like in parks & sea fronts. The NT have closed all grounds now due to this, only a matter of time before we follow Australia & Italy and ban it all if people are not sensible & restrain themselves about it.Irresponsible behaviour triggered pub / cafe / restaurant ban and just walking will follow if some do not wise upSermon over
I am allowed to go out for a walk as long as you keep 2 metres from other people so I would like you to mind your business!oooh, touchy aren't you? It was not aimed at you or any MSE personally, it was more a response to the folks who are not keeping a distance, like here https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-51994504 or a lot of seaside towns as shown on TV yesterdayFWIW I have also not been out either since last TuesdayRe reading my post I can see how it may have come across as a dig at you, it was not meant to be. That's the problem with on line, not the same as sitting chatting round a table where one can judge by tone / infliction etc during normal chats.4 -
I have been cooking for two the past couple of days, well, not really "cooking" as I have been giving my husband cereal or toast for breakfast and he is eating frozen pizzas for dinner.
I am determined not to waste any food during this time when the supermarkets are over stretched. I had some weird meal for lunch of roasted carrots, mushy peas and leftover brown rice earlier. It was surprisingly nice.

Good morning everyone,
Pork steaks here for us, not FR as they were some my son had but I'm sure we'll manage! Not sure how we'll have them yet apart from that it will involve mushrooms as I have a small punnet needing used up before they go over.
I've more voluntary admin this afternoon to keep me out of mischief. This morning it's chores and laundry as both have been somewhat neglected over the past few days.
It was strange this morning not to be woken by the cat, after pretty much two months of him being here we had found a routine that suited him if not always me
Hope PN is okay as I don't think she's posted for a few days unless I missed it.
