I use the "CBA just bung it all in" method of slow cooking but this time I've added some dried mushrooms, duly re-hydrated, that DD gifted :s bought me for Christmas. I've never used them before but I'm told they give a "hearty" taste to the end result, fingers crossed

I used a  handful of re-hydrated dried mushrooms in my soup yesterday they really do add a good boost to the flavour. I quite often add a tsp of mushroom ketchup to stews etc. and that works well in increasing the "meatiness".

Finally, good news for my all you can eat breakfast scoffs.

I didn't go looking for hot food today, ended up in Lidl and came home with some vacuum-packed mini peshwari naans, pack of flatbreads and a pot of tuna/sweetcorn sandwich filler.  Also 3 bags of sweeties.
I've just scoffed 2 flatbreads with tuna sandwich filler and am about to finish the pot off using a 3rd flatbread.  Those things don't keep, so the whole pot had to ideally be scoffed tonight, no point holding onto it just for the sake of eating it later :)

I did spot there's a Harvester just down the road.... and they do an AYCE brekky too.  Might have to check that one out in the next week or so. The website I checked said £3.99, their PDF says £3.29 (at the top), but further down the price for a breakfast including the breakfast bar is £6.29. They don't really want people wandering in just for the breakfast bar.... Websites are always scant on details... so you do have to go/see/ask/try for yourself to know if there are conditions or restrictions and prices.

    Good morning everyone,
Yikes £60 for a small filling, dental treatment is much less expensive up here. Last year I had 2 checkups, a small filling and 3 hygienist visits and was under that for them all!
Home alone this morning, for a bit anyway, so I'm enjoying a lazy start to the day.  :) Pasta with chorizo and a tomato & pesto sauce for dinner tonight. I'll make the sauce later this morning so it's a quick put together later.

Caronc there are three charge bands in UK, £60 included the check up, but it would have been the same price for my small filling as it would have been if I had a root canal or multiple fillings (not that I want those).  I'm not convinced that the banding makes sense the way it works.  The hygienist are private and my dentist practice stopped cleaning teeth as part of the check up which they use to do.

The charging works slightly differently here, check ups are free and  basic hygienist stuff like a simple scale and polish is on the NHS. I've been paying just over £11 per hygienist visit for a scale and polish.  A small filling is just under £8. The individual pricing here can mount up though if you need a lot done, though it's capped at £384 for a complete course of treatment.

I went to do a property drive by this morning... then popped into the CoOp and bought a bag of five sausage rolls :)
Ate some then, brought the last two home and sat here in bed scoffing them. (In bed because there's no heating on, so it's nippy).
