Good morning everyone,
Windy but dry and brightish here, it's much colder today than it's been for a couple of days.
My son has just left and I'm hoping he doesn't have a difficult drive back.
Apart from my sister's cat I'm "home alone" today and tomorrow. Much as I love having a houseful, I'm looking forward to a couple of days of peace & quiet. Today's challenge is to get some much needed tidying done and investigating various tubs of "bits" in the fridge that have accumulated over the last couple of days!
We watched "Rocketman" yesterday evening which I really enjoyed, though I think the lads were less than impressed by my sister and I singing along
The Hugh F-W curry my son cooked last night was delicious and we ordered naan and pakora from the local takeaway. It felt like a proper feast for a fraction of the cost of getting a takeaway for 4 and there is leftover curry which I'll portion and freeze. Tonight I'm keeping simple with a baked spud, haddock and steamed veg.

Good evening everyone,
My it's a bit blowy here but compared to other parts of the UK we are getting off so lightly!
I think puss is enjoying the peace & quiet as much as I have, he's not moved from his favourite spot for hours. He'll no doubt appear soon yowling with hunger. My son had an okay drive back, it took about 1 hour longer than usual but he says it wasn't too bad going.
The place is now reasonably tidy again, I've tackled some of the laundry pile, reduced chicken stock for freezing and investigated the fridge.I've a grocery order booked for tomorrow as I'm running low on staples and need some bits for when my sis & nephew move back in on Tuesday as they need to be out of their Air BnB then. They hope to be back in their flat by Friday at the latest and while it will be far from finished it should at least be liveable in which it isn't just now. Depending on what still needs doing puss may be here for a bit longer which apart from not being allowed out I don't think he'll mind too much.
Brunch was LO pasta bake which as I had made it with lots of sauce hadn't gone claggy and was still really tasty. The spare ragu and béchamel will get frozen this evening to add to my rather dwindled stash of HM meals or meal components. Dinner is baked breaded haddock, a baked spud topped with salsa & sour cream, roast courgettes and broccoli. There's about a glass and a half of wine LO from last night which will go nicely with it.🍷

Glad your son got home safely Caronc
my sister was twitchy earlier as her 'baby' had gone to the coast today with friends 🙄 and that's only about 25 miles away
the local radio was full of road closures in the county due to flooding. I also agree that however nice it is to have visitors having the house back to yourself is nice to
i had planned to stay in today but my sister enticed me to hers with the offer of a cuppa and one of my nephews HM brownies 😁 she then asked could she borrow something and could I bring it down with me 😏 brownie was worth italthough I'm not sure my nephew knew we were 'stealing' some whilst his back was turned 😋 otherwise it's been a quiet day in, I made some chicken and vegetable soup for lunches next week.
Eggs on toast for lunch. Dinner was a very thick FR rack pork chop, which I topped with whole grain mustard and roasted, with some of yesterday's LO veg (root veg mash and Jerusalem artichokes) with sweetheart cabbage I sautéed with bacon, onion and garlic 👌 followed by roast figs, Greek yogurt and chopped walnuts

PN one advantage of not living in your own home is not having to worry about the roof tiles or fences
In my previous house I'd have been up all night, pacing, twitching, worrying.
I wasn't very well overnight Sat/Sun, so felt very under par yesterday from lack of sleep. I think the storm had woken me at 3am and then I'd realised I wasn't that well... lying/fretting there in the dark wondering just how unwell I was.
Yesterday's scoff was the usual: Crisps, chocolate, a noodle pot.

Dennis has gone now, no flooding around here but I feel sorry for those pictured on TV, awful for them. Cold, slightly windy[snigger Brambling
] but sunny today
Last night's lamb pie was good, real identifiable chunks of lamb. I've just checked on the web site, hoping to provide a link, but that pie has vanished so presumably not a good seller. Typical, find a good 'un & it gets withdrawnBreakfast, porridge of courseLunch, boring cheese & pickle sarnie I thinkBrambling said:Dinner was a very thick FR rack pork chop, which I topped with whole grain mustard and roasted,

Good morning everyone,
I hope you are feeling better today PN. Dennis has more or less departed here though it's still pretty miserable here. I've been tempting the puss with 'cat crack' aka Dreamies to get him securely out of the way when my groceries arrive. I'm sure he knows he is being conned but can't resist them.
LO chicken curry for dinner tonight with courgettes, onions, baby spuds &peppers stewed in garlic butter and herbs. Lunch will be a sarnie or toastie.3 -
Hello all. I have been having daily emails for CFO quite happily for many years, sometimes post too, but since there was a message come up about folks pictures I get emails from everyone ever day instead of just the link. Anyone know how I can stop this or should I just cancel the daily email? Thanks xx3
