Cooking for one (Mark Three)

Had a cheeky 3am jam sandwich. Didn't need to eat, wasn't hungry, but ate anyway.
Popping out now.. I'd mistaken two empty coffee jars for new/full ones (kept in case I found them handy)... so going out for baccy and coffee :now
EDIT: Back, it's getting blowy out there!
A couple of items of note... in my own home I like to have tins of mixed beans in the cupboard, to throw into the SC with mince/onions as a head start for a chilli. Mixed beans mean not missing out on red kidney beans and adding variety into the pot. Also, using the same in any form of spicy sauce.
Sainsbobs sell these at 90p per can, 4ldi/L1dl have typically sold them at about 50p or so.
This morning I noticed Sainsbobs have one called Five Beans in spicy tomato sauce at just 45p. And in 4ldi they had some on the shelves labelled as "new" (which often aren't new at all), calling themselves Taco Beans at 45p.

This morning's haul was: 18 loo rolls, 2 jars of coffee, a bar of chocolate, chocolate oatie biscuits, a cheese/onion quiche and a pack of vegetable samosas. These last two items don't need refrigerating as it's not that warm this time of year and I'll have scoffed them both by tomorrow, so they can be kept in my room in a cool spot.5 -
Good morning everyone,
Not that organised here yet PN, I'm not planning on going anywhere so having a leisurely start to the day listening to the wind and rain battering off of the windows!
The pasta bake was scummy scrummy but huge so there's a portion LO plus some spare ragu and bechamel for the freezer. Tonight my son is cooking a baked chicken curry. It is a Hugh F-W recipe that I have made often and is really delicious. My sis is going to order Naan and pakora to have with it. Much as I've enjoyed it I'm looking forward to having a night off from cooking. 😀5 -
CARONC , hope you meant scrummy;)
I'm getting a massive ICELAND delivery today, so will be having a ping meal tonight .I don't feel guilty about it, as I've been cooking loads from scratch recently:)

The food column in the Guardian is focussing on CFO this weekend - perhaps they've been following the thread?

Same here, and both of us are under the rain Orange warning, one month's rain [3 inches] in one day coming our way. Calling off Chichester was a wise moveGood call on the belly buster breakfast PN, not a handy Toby near me, which maybe a stroke of luck or it could be weekly breakfast alternating with lunchtime F & CsPorridge breakfast as usualToday is Use Up SaturdayLunch, opening a tin of H's Cream of tom soup, with a YS rollDinner, probably a frozen Iceland MFO roast beef dinner, they are nothing special, bought some over a year ago for "just in case" post my hernia op, and now I'm fed up seeing them lurking. Bit like the tins of tom soup reallyEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens4 -
*Waves to Guardian journalists* lol.
I have had a vegan cream cheese wholemeal sandwich and a cup of tea.
I just went out for a short walk and then had some posh Coop crisps when I got in. It's very windy! My necklace got all tangled up with my headphones, annoyingly.
I bought an avocado and some green chilli peppers. I read in a magazine yesterday that eating chilli peppers four times a week is meant to reduce your chances of having a heart attack by 40%.
Eating Chili Peppers 4 Times A Week Could Reduce The Risk Of Heart Attack By 40% | Science Times
I am going to make a hot veggie curry with the chilli peppers as I have another jar of the Meridian sauce. This one is Korma. I am going to put in red onion, potatoes, carrots and frozen cauliflower and have it with brown rice, mango chutney and sliced cucumber.5 -
Seriously cold, wet and windy here! I had to go out to the Post Office and nearly got blown away.
I quickly made chicken, leek and potato soup, lovely and warming - cheap and cheerful

Hope you haven't been washed away Farway 🌧🌊💨 I spoke to my BIL earlier and he was saying their garden was flooding and they live on the edge of the New Forest so closer to you than me. I was worried earlier after my lights started to flicker, mainly because dinner was in the oven
but I've seemed to have missed the power cut which according to the local newspaper is all around me, with 300 houses without electricity, the houses behind me are all in darkness and have been for three hours. Torch and candles are handy 🕯
Wednesday there are several spices they have found are good for us, turmeric for joints amongst other things and cinnamon is meant to help with weight loss or appetite suppressant (can't remember which)
PN one advantage of not living in your own home is not having to worry about the roof tiles or fences
Lunch was LOs from last night, smoked cod, colcannon and green vegetables. Dinner was roast venison, parsnips, Jerusalem artichokes, mash root veg and braised red cabbage with sour cherries (writing that it maybe just as well I live alone 😳 ) 😁

Wind was howling during the night, and that's with double glazing. This morning would've been a good one to turn over & go back to sleep, rain is taking a breather at the moment ready to tip down all afternoon supposedly. I'm sitting tight indoors todayLast night's beef etc in a Yorkie, only £1 in Iceland, was OK but left me hungry later and I had a bowl of muesli to top me up, then some of my free found in the trolley chocolate, which was very nice, chopped hazel nuts in white choc, tastyHas a scare logging on this morning, my Firefox browser just not working, other browsers were available & worked fine. I had to re install FF. If I vanish you'll know whyPorridge breakfastLunch, boring old cheese & cuc in YS rolls. I may have to ping the rolls to try & achieve semblance of fresh not staleDinner, ideal pie weather, I've a posh lamb & red wine pie in the freezer which will do the job. However I've found posh pies sometimes are no better than Pukka ones but until I've tried it I'll never know. I should really make a pan of mash to go with but at the moment HM AF chips seems more likelyEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens4
