    Happy New Year all :D

Hopefully things will settle down at the new place PN once you both have time to get use to each other

I didn't see midnight in although one of my neighbours had really noise fireworks at about 12.30 which woke me.

Not sure about food today other than eggs of some kind for lunch as they need eating and dinner will probably be Nasi Goreng as I've taken the mince out of the freezer, or something done with the mince  I've taken a filleted chicken thigh from the freezer which I plan to make a soup of some kind for the next couple of lunches. I use to be indecisive now I'm not so sure :D

Nothing planned today other than take the Xmas tree down and try and get every back in the boxes

Too nackered, in bed by ten, failed to finish the Noval port. Barely bothered by fireworks, but did hear the foxes in the woods. Was planning ramen today, but Mrs Un has other ideas I think involving Richmond (vegan) sausages. I've just renewed my BT line rental saver, so I'm in a devil of a mood (every year they make you hunt for the renewal link then claim you don't have a line then play the yes/no game with their [STRIKE]marketing[/STRIKE] spam preferences.

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

Spuds + carrots now into the pot roast, smelling good.

Sprouts + broccoli prepped, only parsnips to do. I'll steam the latter 3 veggies as the easy option, I did think of roasting them but oven has the pot roast in & it would involve too much juggling & timing which is more than I CBA

Dauphinoise potatoes. Having just watched Rick Stein in Spain on The Food Network, I wasn't really in the mood. But now I'm stuffed, and the potato/lamb moussaka I was planning for the weekend has been postponed (it's all frozen anyway). I might go back to the idea of some kind of kofkas using the traditional La Mancha method of binding - bread & milk rather than egg.

  • I have almost a whole bag of organic carrots. I think I am going to make a batch of soup today.

I had marmite on toast for breakfast with a cup of tea.

Olive pate on OOD crumpets (I prefer my crumpets stale) but that didn't really work so reverted to sourdough toast.

    Dull & damp again

Yesterday's pot roast beef turned out great, with a good portion of veg LO for bubble & squeak one day soon. Some of my spuds are sprouting so a big pot of mash could be on the way

Porridge, diced apple etc for breakfast
Lunch has to be a LO beef & horseradish sarnie
Dinner, use a LO HM cheese & onion pasty, maybe with ?????

My local on line meat folk have sent me a 20% off in January, so tempting, especially as last night's beef proved yet again the point on paying more for quality & tasting the difference

Ventured out to the supermarket after breakfast, which was almost deserted. Not a great deal of YS unless you have the wherewithall to process large ham joints (which I don't) so settled for a YS steak which I'm probably having with sprouts & potatoes, or maybe broccoli. Deli counter had a small block of parma ham, which I was hoping would be too small to run through the slicer and count as an end, but I got the 'wrong' assistant who made short work of it, you win some you lose some...

Lunch was a corned beef sandwich using the last of the Waitrose Essential Piccalilli. Now I can open the jar of Barton's that I found in Food Warehouse a month or so ago

The carrot, onion and mixed pepper soup I made today was pretty blah!

I am going to cook up some red lentils and add some tikka seasoning to the rest of the soup tomorrow.

I'm about to have a vegan burger in a roll with lettuce, ketchup and yellow mustard.:)
