I had to search for Tunis cake, I can't recall ever having had it, we were were eating coal & sucking stones we were so poor [nods to Monty Python Yorkshire men sketch]:D

    Porridge breakfast
Popped a loaf in the Panny using a ready mix, looking like beef & horseradish sarnie for lunch, using the new & warm loaf:)
Dinner, undecided, I'll see how I feel later

I heard reports about the saltiness of the Gregg's vegan stuff, not tried them but I find a lot of commercial stuff salty now I no longer crust everything in it at home

Bad news on the pong PN, maybe open windows while you nuke stuff until "she" returns and hopefully notices it herself

Update, loaf completed, looks a bit lopsided, I'll call it "Artisan"

  • I hadn't heard of Tunis cake either. I don't really like marzipan.

    Good morning everyone,

One of my Gran's would sometimes buy a tunis cake to serve at the "tea" she hosted on the 2nd of January. Apart from that I don't ever remember seeing or having it.
Wet and miserable here today, I've just straightened my hair as I'm meeting friends for coffee this afternoon. I think it may have been a wasted effort. We usually go for lunch but decided not to after all the festive eating. No doubt a scone or cake will feature so I'm skipping lunch as I had a late breakfast.
    Dinner tonight remains tbc.

Dinner decided, it's some of the LO beef, plus fresh steamed use up sprouts, parsnips, carrots & broccoli.

Make big pan of mash in anticipation of LOs for Bubble & Squeak coming soon

    Good evening everyone,
I've had a great afternoon:D, we ended up meeting a bit earlier than planned still full of good intentions to just have a cuppa, cake and catch up. It didn't take long to discover none of us had eaten lunch and were all quite peckish! The tearoom we were in did a light lunch deal of 1/2 sandwich, small soup, piece of tray bake and tea or coffee for £5.50 which we all opted for. It was lovely - freshly made, tasty and just enough without feeling stuffed. I had cream of chicken & tarragon soup, an egg mayo sarni, a piece of malteaser cake and a pot of tea. There was salad, crisps and rather good waldorf salad with the sandwich. We all had right old natter and and it looks as though my friend will be back in the UK more often which is lovely as we'll get see a bit more of her in person.:)

I cba cooking tonight so it's another freezer raid for something I can pop in the oven or nuke.

    Evening all :)

The day started with the kitten charging in when I opened the front door first thing this morning  his lordship was not amused, he likes me to open the front door first thing so he can check the garden is still there  less work than the cat flap :rotfl: every time I left the house I was mugged by the kitten, he's been in the car three times and I chased him around the downstairs twice when he's slipped in. I only hope he doesn't come on a drive with me  they put him out and left home about 7.30am and didn't come back until 7pm he doesn't have a cat flap and that a long day for a baby . My boy isn't happy and the kitten will soon need to visit the vet (snip snip) or there will be trouble. I feel so guilty about shutting the door in his face but his lordship has to come first and he gets stress when it comes in, I'm just waiting for the day he follows him in my cat flap:eek:

This morning I kept my sister company when she went to her favourite art supply shop, I can understand why she likes it and I may have done a little shopping myself :) we came back via a farm shop we've never been before, I didn't need anything but did pick up some landcress which I've not seen in shops, I usually grow it. The meat looks good so worth another visit it's 7 miles away so will need to make it worth while. My sister brought some pork and apple burgers from the butcher so I'll see what she thinks of them, :)

Lunch was egg mayo on crackers with some of the landcress. Dinner was roast chicken, braised red cabbage, braised peas and lettuce, and French beans. Plenty of chicken left for LOs

First ramen of the year here for me with a Plum sized bit of LO beef that I shared with the cat. Feel A big plate of mash coming on too - maybe in the week

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
  • I have eaten so much again today. Healthier though at least. I made a soya mince bolognese and had it with courgetti noodles. I used my spiralizer for the first time in ages!

I had mash, peas, carrots and onion gravy in the evening.

 Some people are such jerks.

There used to be a kitten in my street and he tried to run into my house at times as the people that had him didn't bother to fit a cat flap. A neighbour told me that he got hit by a car and was killed one day they were out as usual.:(

That's what worries me Wednesday he runs out to meet cars and tried to follow me to the main road on New Year Eve. I live in a Close but it's not far to a busy road

  • I've had toast and two cups of tea.

I have the leftover soya mince from yesterday for lunch. I only have a small bowl of courgetti left so I will make some pasta to go with the mince.

I fancy chickpeas later, either a coconut chickpea curry or a roasted chickpea salad. It feels very mild today so maybe the salad.:)

I'm the same, I live in a cul de sac but we have cars coming in all the time from the main road.

Why do people even bother to have pets if they don't take care of them properly?! Infuriates me.
