I might have mentioned this on another thread, but if the thing is dead, Curry's will take it for WEEE recycling
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0 -
I'm sat here with cine films piled on every available surface ready to be sorted for charity, and three broken projectors to figure out. But first, kippers...

I've had a cup of tea so far today.
I made stir fried soya mince, onion and mixed peppers in tortilla wraps last night with chilli salt on top. It was really yummy.:)I'm hoping to bribe his lordship with some of the beef as i was caught cuddling the next door's kitten when I put the bin outin my defence it was pick it up or fall over it, as I turned back up the path I realised I was being watched out of the bedroom window :rotfl: and he's not best pleased with me at the moment
Aw, I would love a kitten.:A0 -
Opened one of the 57 varieties of tom soup for lunch
I had intended dipping stale bread in, but the bread had a green tinge:eek:. So just soup
Unfortunately the newly green bread was intended as the toast ingredient for tonight's dinner:(
Plan B for dinner is now fish fingers, HM chips + nuked peas
And I've made a loaf using an instant mix, should a chip or FF butty be required
'Fes up time. My mini oven, muggins had plugged in the slow cooker in error:o:o:o:o:o Ooops.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

My mini oven has followed the domestic appliance failures transmitted on CFO... given cheapness of oven it maybe beyond economic repair even assuming I could find parts. I'll oik my multi-meter out and have a bash after lunch
To heat up a pie for 30 minutes in an electric oven, with pre-heating, is about 0.75 hours. If the oven pulls 4kW/h and it's active 50% of that time it's about 1½ units of leccy.
The mini oven generally needs no pre-heating, heats up fast in any case and uses about 1kW. To heat up a pie without pre-heating usually takes less time than the box says, say 20 minutes is enough. 0.3kW to heat that pie, so about 1/4 to 1/5th of the power. If leccy costs, say, 20p/kW, the difference is 30p -v- 6p or so. Further rounding says 25p saved every time the mini oven is chosen over the main oven.
Lots and lots of very loose rounding there... but it does pay for itself.0 -
Good evening everyone,
Glad you solved the non-heating issue Farway;).
Washing machine is repaired - the part was £6 but I dread how much it would have cost me if my son wasn't here..... I'd rather it hadn't have leaked but the timing was fab:).
It's definiely been the season of leaks here - my kettle started leaking last week and had to be replaced, then the washing machine and this morning I woke up with a wet back as the hotwater bottle I'd had on my back leaked. At first I thought I might have had a mishap:o so was very relieved that my soggy bottom wasn't of my doing:rotfl::rotfl:. Thankfully my nighty had absorbed most of it so I only had a slightly damp bed to deal with.:)
Last of the LOs from Saturday for lunch apart from a couple of HM sausage rolls which I froze.
The wonton soup last night was delicious and the spare wontons are currently being open frozen for future use. There was minced pork spare from making them and that been turned into ragu for tonight along with some needing used up mushrooms and HM passatta.0 -

I don't regret getting a rescue cat even with his[STRIKE] not so[/STRIKE] little quirks but I have enjoyed time spent with this kitten, except he seems to be put outside a lot so comes running as soon as I open my door and then tries to trip me up weaving around my legs and trying to climb them, i can fall over my own feet I don't need help  I was advised his lordship was handed into CP as he doesn't play nicely with others so he will have to be a only cat as much as the kitten wants to come in. So far he's only hissed at it
Had to laugh at the hot water bottle moment Caroncfor a minute I thought you and Farway were both having senior moments:rotfl:
Are you in your new place PN?
Worked from home today, it was nice and quiet. I'm off tomorrow, I need to see if the garage is open as my car door isn't right, could be an expensive start to the year
Lunch was a roast beef sandwich and dinner ended up as the second piece of chicken and ham pie I brought yesterday with some salad and new potatoesLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Ventured out today, bit chilly & misty but needed milk and fresh air. Very quite out, not much traffic or shoppers
Plenty of YS items about, no cheap ham which was my on my wish list. However loads of YS ex Christmas chocs, like advent calendars in Wilko, 25p, choc coins in W8rose 25p.
I bought some for the grandchildren, they are used to Granddad treating them to chocolate Santas at Easter & Easter eggs in July:money:
Also YS ready roll puff pastry, thinking I may make some sort of cheese & onion turnover with it for tonight
Lunch was BLT sarnie
Dinner, maybe the C + O puff pastry thingy, or if fail then C + O sarnie
I've taken a beef joint out to defrost for tomorrow, pot roast it & up up the XCFO cheap veg at same time
Brambling, I foresee beef sarnies on my CFO list post pot roastEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I'm happy as the garage fixed the car door whilst I waited with no charge :T. Unfortunately when he opened my door really wide to see what was making the noise it wouldn't close  so I sat down with tea and biscuit whilst he got a lad to look
. It just needed a bolt it seems. With the money saved I popped in to the nearby large garden centre which was selling off Christmas decs less than 50% so I replaced some of my tree baubles and brought something to update my table display (table one needs to be cat proof as he obsesses over it and insists on sitting amongst it)
I made the mistake of popping into Sainsbobs on the way back home, as I inched around the car park with a long queue of cars I was on my way back out when I saw a car leave and was able to nip in. It wasn't that busy inside, I think the issue was their parking barrier wasn't working so people were popping into town using their free parking, it's usually only free for half hour or spend ten pounds in store and get your ticket validated. Not much YS just some nectarines and plums half price. I only needed some fruit, green veg and milk and picked up a half price Wok as mine has lost it's nonstick, I dropped hints to my nephew before Christmas and he brought me a frying pan  I'm not complaining as it can replace my old one
Lunch was a sandwich using the last of the roast beef, it was very generousand the last of the pickle onions. I'm eating dinner at my sister's tonight so not CFO
Happy New year all :beer:Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0
