  • I feel the cold much more now I'm a bit older. I think it is to do with being on thyroid meds too as I used to run quite warm in body temperature before I started taking them. I need my socks and slippers in the afternoon and evenings!

    Good afternoon everyone,

I'm feeling both :) and :( as the house sale went through this morning. My Dad's passing feels very final now but I'm glad that the sale is completed.

Congratulations, one less 'worry' to occupy thoughts.
It's an odd feeling, you expect to be able to "put that bit behind you" now, but it keeps creeping back.

I was 'sad' that mine never got to choose when he'd sell, nor choose the agent, nor decide the price, nor benefit from his life's efforts financially :(

It's never over, it's just different.

I'm in the dry & windy bit of the country this morning
L's mooch this morning, took advantage of the long weekend offers so posh coffee + packs of cheap, but not ethical, gammon steaks went it the trolley

Plus tinned mushrooms & one of spaghetti, just fancying spag on toast for some reason. I bet it'll not be as nice as I I remember it
    And some cake:o

Plus YS salt & pepper beef prepacked roast in tray, just right for dinner

Lunch was cheese & tom rolls
I've now cooked the beef, only an hour required so dinner will include beef but not sure how yet
I've popped a ready mix loaf in the Panny so could be beef & horseradish sarnie unless the roast dinner fairy pops by

Tried again with ginger curd & taste improves if spread a more thickly;)

I don't remember ginger sponge at school just chocolate sponge and pink custard :). We rarely had shop brought cake at home and I didn't like the Macvities ginger one which my sister would chose if we did :o

Why can I never find shortbread in my car? I've only seem the Scottie dog shape ones in the shops down here
My school choc sponge was same, cut out in blocks from a huge tin

Shortbread is not something I buy, it would never last a day. I did make some once with same result, so never made it again

Envious. Nearly ended up there once. Considering the cameraman surrendered his film to Indian customs rendering the entire endeavour futile, I'm glad I didn't go

Curry house at the top of the road does a nice potato aloo gobi, so I'm content with that and I count my blessings

Omg if he'd bunged them a few hundred rupees , he could've kept it.They're all about bribes ;)

<<hugs>> Caronc somehow it's that last thing that makes it seem so final, raise a glass to him tonight :)

Every body is currently conspiring against me finishing off before i have a week off :( having worked through lunch i'm taking a few minutes to have a break with a cuppa before i throw my laptop out of the window, that should stop the emails

If you're in a dry part of the country Farway not sure where we are getting all this rain from it's horrid out there at the moment :(

Lunch was the last of the lentil and sweet potato soup (there is one portion in the freezer) it was really tasty which means I probably won't remember what was in it if I try to duplicate it. I took out a lurking portion which claims to be steak and kidney from the freezer to make room for the soup so will have that for dinner probably with mashed carrot and swede as it's definitely a winter warmer kind of day. I may open a bottle of red when i get home as well :D

Right report has stopped exporting so time to get back to work

    Good evening everyone,
Thanks for the virtual hugs:A. My sis popped round after her work and we had a big cuddle and a bit of a weep. I feel much better now and yes will be raising a glass to him tonight.:) My Dad was lucky that despite health issues he enjoyed his final years. He had his family nearby, many friends and had enough money to cover all his needs, hobbies and wants although did need persuading to spend on himself at times. A hard habit to break after scrimping to make ends meet for most of his adult life. This afternoon I bit the bullet and tied up some lose ends following the sale, just the council tax folk to write to now I think then the final bits to tie up his estate.

A bitterly cold day has turned into a wet & bitterly cold evening, I ended up lighting the stove at 5pm as the house felt very chilly. Dinner still needs put together but won't take long once it gets going.

Brambling - I think my laptop will be following yours out of the window, it's become decidedly clunky and will be heading for recycling in the not too dim and distant future....

Weather wise it was sunny/pleasant earlier, but since about 6pm there's some driving heavy drizzle rolling in.

I popped out for some sweeties... my fave chocs from 1cel4nd and managed to spend £10 in there...

A 4-pack of burgers, 10-pack of cheapo fish cakes, pack of folded flatbreads, ketchup .... and 12 packs of Walkers C/O crisps (even though I swore the other month never to bother again the price of £1.50 for 12 sucked me in).. also 6 small packs of doritos and two packs of my chocs.

    :)

Had a burger/flatbread when I got in... sitting here scoffing chocs now.
