Slowly, pickled walnuts and some long dated cheese, and should they survive, some super chocs that were on offer
I'll not buy stollen just yet, it'll never make Halloween let alone CFOmas;)

Idly flicking through the W8rose paper spotted bit about tax returns. quickly checked mine, Gulp, due back by 31st for paper filing.
Thank heaven & Bill G for M'soft money it is all to hand as I've only simple stuff and not an International Banker
Means I must pop out Monday to post it, no point before because there are no collections until then anyway. Should make it on time fingers crossed

Lunch was cheese & tom sarnie, plus bit of cake
Dinner, def a Pukka pie now rain has arrived it'll be comfort grub

  • I will have to get my white noise machine out and I usually have to play wave sounds on YouTube really loudly too to drown out the fireworks. My JRT hates them.:(

Mmm, that veggie burger was delicious. It was the Bird's Eye one. I only tried it recently. I will have to try the sausages they do too.:)

    Good evening everyone,

Fireworks-wise there's only really the organised display around Nov 5th, some on Hogmanay and the odd party or wedding throughout the year. They're not too bad as they tend to be short lived, it's the kids setting them off for weeks before and after Bonfire Night that's a pain as they favour the really noisy ones and they go off randomly until well after they should all be home and in bed!!!
I'm keeping my eyes out for festive "bits" though so far have only bought various chocs on SO. I'll ramp it up over the next few weeks as things go on offer.

The weather has been horrible lots of sleet and hail, though I was quite content pottering in the kitchen. It's a while since I had a bit of a "cook in" and made the most of both my mind & balance being willing:D. At one point two slow cookers, the pressure cooker and a pot were all on the go.:) I made two soups (Wood & Walters anyone?:rotfl:), leek & potato and a spiced lentil, kholrabi, sweet potato and carrot. Variations of both were mentioned on here recently and fitted well with what I had in the veg drawer. Most of all the ripe tomatoes were slow cooked with garlic and oregano and I'll sieve these tomorrow. I made more mash, mainly to top the fish pie and some "luxury" sauce for said pie. The sauce is a cheat I read about or saw on TV yonks ago and instead of milk for the bechamel you use a mix of 200mls fish stock (I used a cube), 75mls milk and 25mls cream (or 100mls of milk). Certainly there will be a lot of soup heading for the freezer over coming days along with at least one portion of fish pie, several tubs of passatta and probably some mash. I froze two portions of turkey & veg curry earlier. There's space for the rest but I'm going to have to have a good rake for enough tubs:eek:, I may need to resort to lining some tubs, freezing the contents and then decanting so I can reuse the container. I'm pleased to get some of my stores converted to meals or meal parts, I need to hunker down over coming weeks and catch up on numerous things that have been put to one side recently so my stash should come in handy while I'm busy doing other things or just cba cooking:).

I'm not sure why I was suprised given how cold it is but the ham I had taken out earlier for lunch wasn't fully defrosted so I ended up with a cheese roll, baby cucumbers and a mug of L&P soup. I'll use the ham tomorrow instead.

'Morning folks, bright & sunny here, with just the right sort of mistiness as required for cracking Autumn photos in woods, if I CBA I'd be out in local wood doing just that

I was glad of the clocks back lie in so my lie in still meant I was up "on time"

Caron, my you were busy, sounds like some tasty items stashed away as [STRIKE]donkey[/STRIKE] future proofing

Porridge + pear as usaul for breakfast
Lunch, cheese & something sarnie looking likely
Dinner, depends how I feel, could be salmon fillet + salad or more likely CBA leek & spud Pukka pie. The "all steak" one I had last night was just right size, and for a quid has more meat than a FB pie

I've still got the LO YS beef from L's, trying to think what to do with it. Probably stuff it in freezer, but maybe make pasties with it? Pastry is the only hold up, I know how to make pastry but too idle at the moment:o

    Good morning everyone,

No misty, mellow morning here unfortunatelf it's cold & wet though supposed to dry up later before turning frosty this evening. Hope you find the oomph for a leafy walk Farway sounds like just the day for it. Pukka pies are my favourite of the SM offerings and seem to pop up on SO fairly often though I've only seen the meat ones here.
Ham & cucumber roll (attempt 2) with a mug of soup for lunch and I've a FR pork chop defrosting for dinner.
  • I'm going to have a peanut butter and raspberry jam sandwich for brekkie after my shower.

I've never heard of that before.:)

I'm going to be on a cooking kick too. I'm making a roast dinner today and a batch of veggie burgers too.

Couldn't decide what to have for breakfast. I have one crust of bread (just 2 days out of date) that I could've just eaten as a piece of toast, or I could do a cheese on toast, or open a can of beans and have beans on toast....

None of those were of any interest whatsoever.... so I nuked two 1cel4nd 10p fishcakes and toasted a flatbread, splash of ketchup and I was done :)

Very nice. That goes on my list of "easy food/quickest". I've still got 12 more fishcakes in the freezer and 3 flatbreads (BBE 3 Nov), so I expect to have that again...

oh thanks. Pickled walnuts and cheese for me when I go shopping. Best that I clear a shelf in the fridge and I had better eat a soup a day because they are taking a lot of freezer space. The waitrose part baked baguettes are in the freezer as well as the bacon and smoked salmon. I might get the likes of a couple of mini quiches and small pate but they will either be frozen or have a long date. I`ll just have to explore

Lunch was nice, I had a waitrose lamb steak with herbs on it and a veg medley which I cooked in the pod for 6 minutes. Steak took 5 minutes and I wrapped it in silver foil for another 5. Chocolate and the last scone later all I have left today is something on toast and some blueberries. Oh well it is sunday and sunday is for treats

After making a three course meal for four yesterday I CBA to do much today. Had two bananas and coffee for breakfast, planning an omelette for lunch and taking something out of the freezer for tonight.

I bought a box of wonky veg so want to use that over the next few days. Swede can be used to make mash, carrots and onions for soup or stew and the cabbage can be sauteed with apple and onion. I want to use up stuff from the freezer so will delve in there later and hoik out a few things to defrost and cook over the next few days.

A grocery delivery is due Thursday evening with meat that I can use next week and also some to freeze, milk, eggs, fruit and veg. To make up the total to qualify for delivery I have added things like bleach etc.

I am still trying to lose weight so got things that are low fat and healthy apart from some Freddos and curly whurleys that were in a pack and on special offer.
