Lunch was cheese & piccalilli sarnie

Dinner decided, it's de-frosted salmon fillet, I'll fry in oil / butter mix, with salad & maybe some frozen French Fries which I wish I'd bought chips but got sucked into these as "on offer"
I knew I really wanted chips but foolishly went ahead buying these in the mistaken belief that maybe they're better than when I had them years ago. :(

I'll stick to normal chunky ones in future

    Evening :)

Caronc after all that cooking I hope you still have room for your venison :). I do enjoy the occasional major cooking session, I tend to put on some podcasts or good music I find it very satisfying and a great way to relax :)

I was out and about yesterday flu jab, haircut and live opera screening of Manon. My arm has been sore today but as my shoulder and hands are playing up I'm not sure if that's the flu jab or too much rain upsetting my joints and it's deferred pain from them

I've done very little today other than eat rubbish, which isn't helping with the healthy eating, I've plenty of fruit in which I managed to bypass on the way to the sugar and fat based goods

Lunch was toast with Brovil. Dinner once I get off my a*** will be something with smoked tofu I think I've eaten enough bad things today not to do it with the usual coconut and peanut sauce  Then I must work out what to cook when my sister comes so I can do a little shopping tomorrow, also for a family dinner for her birthday meal

I've been thinking lamb for a while now Pattypans meal is sending me to dig around in the freezer, my list tells me there should be a lamb steak in there :). It will do for tomorrow

Lunch was a cheeseburger in a flatbread.
Tea was a repeat of that.

Out of burgers now... they were gorgeous :)

    Good evening everyone,

Wednesday - yeah they're a strange veg but I like them, they grow well in tubs and are pretty impossible to buy round here so well worth the garden space. :)
CG - yes the soups were lush, I've sampled both now :D
Brambling I had a properly sore arm this year after my jab:(, it took a good few days to settle. Yes fingers crossed there should be room for the venison if I get some. So far all my batch cooking & passatta has fitted in my smaller freezer and there's quite a bit of room in my large one. Though I have added a large gammon joint to my grocery order as the "Finest" one I like is half price just now. Though that will be getting cut into smaller joints that shouldn't take up too much room (fingers crossed).
PN- good to see that now you have moved that you seem to be enjoying your food again.:)

Elona, I'm not surprised after cooking a three-course meal yesterday you CBA doing much today. An omelette and freezer rake definitely sound like a good idea. :)
Farway - with you on the french fries unless they are deep fried and served as part of a KFC meal otherwise I much prefer them on the chunky side.

Oh well dark before 6pm :( and the frost is starting to come down now. We did get a bit of sunshine later in the afternoon but it didn't warm the place up any, I opted not to garden as it was mixed with sudden heavy showers! I had some of the lentil soup for lunch, gave some to my sis and froze three portions. I remembered I had taken a pack of Lakeland "soup and sauce" bags from my Dad's so used those for the soup to ease pressure on my tub stash as while there are lots still in the cupboard they mainly fall into the "Goldilocks" trap of being too big or small. :rotfl:. Not something I would normally buy but they seem pretty sturdy so will try and wash them out to use again. I also froze two portions of fish pie and 6 assorted sized tubs ( just over 1.5l in total) of passatta. I'll have some L&P soup tomorrow then freeze what's left of that, probably two portions. Apart from freezer packing I finalised what my kids & I are jointly buying my nephew for his 21st in a couple of weeks, crunched some numbers for the out of school group and started to research laptops as mine is gradually giving up the ghost. Once I've worked out what I want I'll start tracking them to see if they appear in "Black Friday" sales. I've given my "musts" to the kids and hopefully between us we can identify something that meets my needs and my budget.;)
Dinner tonight is griddled pork chop, mash, creamy garlic mushrooms and green beans.

I think your right about the flu jab causing the achy arm Caronc

I diced some veg and cooked with fresh tomatoes, tossed in a sachet of puy lentils and served with crispy smoked tofu, really tasty and LOs for tomorrow

I'm debating on replacing my own laptop as I tend to use the tablet as the laptop is very old and got so clunky, I can use my work laptop but can't set up my printer and I'm limited with it

Received my quote today to decorate my lounge, dining room and small bedroom pleasantly surprised as it includes skimming the plaster, but it's better if he can do it all together as he has to get in a plasterer. like my window quote it's well within what I've budgeted for so I'm happy :) well until I have to raid the piggy bank :p. He can't decorate until February but I'm hoping to get the French door in by Christmas

Sounds as though your home improvements are moving along nicely Brambling:)- mine have stalled until the Spring as I can't face the disruption in the cold wet months. Still toying with the idea of decanting to an "Air BnB" and getting as much as possible done at once while I'm out of the way but nearby in case needed. If I avoid the school holidays there are some good options locally that are "me friendly" but reasonably priced. If I'd half a functioning brain cell I should have got on with it before we cleared out and sold my Dad's but hindsight is always a wonderful thing.:rotfl:
  • My friend is awaiting approval from the mods on here so hopefully she will join us soon. She is a very good cook so she will make me up my game on cooking for one as I am normally very lazy.:D

I like wedges too, I was thinking earlier that I used to love curly fries. Haven't had them in ages!!

As you say Caronc hindsight is wonderful :). There are definitely advantages in getting it all done is once in both disruption and usually price. When I had my bathroom and toilet knocked into one I decamped to my sister for a week, this time It maybe the cat who goes depends how stressed he gets. Just need to decide on colour and finish the curtains for the bedroom :D

sometimes I crave meat, must be the various minerals in it and tbh my stomach always feels so settled after meat or fish meals. I eat a lot of veggie but my stomach complains sometimes

Today is LOvers from DGD ie fish fingers chips and peas, yum nice to have that excuse, has to be lunchtime because that would spark gerd if I eat it to late. This one is definitely for mouth satisfaction.

I bought some very nice venison the other day, its a strong and very lean meat and I only eat a small amount and with plenty of veg or salad. Talking about salad, a meal that I cannot eat after about1pm. It seems to take ages to digest. I am going to take a minestrone out tonight, defrost for tomorrow. I just ate second breakfast of 2 small hard boiled eggs and salad
