  • I've been stuffing my face today!!!!

I had a bowl of soup with a slice of bread and marg.

Then I had all the 4 snack veggie tikkis (OMG delish!) with salad and mango chutney and then I had another sandwich with mustard.

My husband is bringing me home a vegan Gregg's sausage roll as well. :o:rotfl: I've had wine too.:p

It is really gusty outside. The windows upstairs blew shut earlier and made me and my pets jump out of our skin!

The steak and kidney had a hidden surprise of dumplings which I don't remember freezing with it :D definitely suited to the horrid wet and windy day, not quite so good as when first cooked but I'm not complaining

First of the local fireworks displays tonight at the primary school around the corner, I'm assuming early because of half term, it's just as well that his lordship didn't bat an eyelid other than to glare at me when I went to[STRIKE] poke him[/STRIKE] check he was ok as the rugby club which is just up the road have theirs tomorrow, I'm not sure why it's early unless there's another one elsewhere next Saturday. One of my last cats would get so scared and hide in my bed with the other one lying on top of her on the outside the duvet :(.

I'm assuming you decided not to attempt the four burger challenge PN :D

Candy you must be due to go on holiday soon? You won't miss the rain :)

It's getting to cat bunker time of year here. Either we pad out the understairs cupboard and she renews her annual non-aggression pact with the hoover or we build a little bunker upstairs which has easy access to underthebed. When I was able I'd drag the futon mattress down, their density is perfect for absorbing low frequency sound (ie fireworks). One year I went a bit overboard - she didn't use it...

I did enjoy the first one so much I was tempted to immediately do another one.... then I thought "give it a rest, maybe in 2-3 hours you can have a 2nd".

But then I was in my room with chocs and crisps and ate a whole bag of chocs and a bag of crisps.... so CBA to go off and cook another burger by then.

4... couldn't have happened, unless there was a big cash prize at the end, which there wasn't.

Last night's YS beef based dinner became beef & horseradish sarnie, just wasn't that hungry when scoff time came round, not that I have fixed times, just habits
The YS beef was OK, another "glad I never paid full whack for it" meal
    Later was toast & jam

PM call from hospital, my waiting list to go on waiting list has moved me up a notch, going along for a prod & poke session on Tuesday AM, could be lunch out that day

Dull, damp & windy, but I'm in the orange warm corner of UK so that's something

Porridge breakfast, with chopped fresh pear. They've ripened perfectly, juicy & sweet, and most importantly, [STRIKE]scrumped from neighbour[/STRIKE] free:D

    Today's meals are ????
Def a sarnie with my fresh bread at lunchtime, probably with beef & H/radish or cheesy salad, wait & see how I feel
Dinner, ?? I've two Pukka pies in fridge with plenty of date left so one of them could be sacrificed

    Good morning everyone,

That's good you have some progress on the waiting list Farway.
There were a few firework bangs in the distance last night, they seem to get earlier and earlier each year.:( When I had the dogs one used to be completely fine with them but his sister was terrified. On Bonfire night all she wanted to do was curl up on your lap with her head tucked into your armpit until they were over but she would be twitchy for days afterwards.

It's still grey & bitterly cold here it's dry at moment but I'm not sure how long for. Once I've sorted out the stove ready to light later I plan to have a potter in the kitchen. I fancy fish pie tonight and between the fridge & the freezer have everything I need in stores. I'm going to make some leek & potato soup as I've leeks needing used up and I'll slow cook a batch of toms for more passatta.
Ham & cucumber roll for lunch today, yesterday I picked the remaining cues as the plants are dying back rapidly, I've one medium one and 1/2 dozen + large gherkin sized ones. Overall it's been a really good and long lasting crop of these this year.
  • so sorry Caronc, condolences to you and your family

A massive pan of minestrone made yesterday, 9 portions, so guess what I am having for lunch. I have had a busy few days back and forth with dgc and stopped in a garden centre restaurant, needing a break. Bought a cream scone and later realised the price was £3.45, ok yes they have overheads. I enjoyed it a lot and bought a pack of 4 in sainsbugs for £1 and a pot of cream, a cream scone after my virtuous soup today

Anyone else accumulating small bits for the solo season in december? I bought one tiny christmas pud, some extra special smoked salmon and ditto bacon. They won`t look the same after I have divided up and frozen. I also got part baked mini baguettes, I do love smoked salmon on crusty baguette. Next week I will buy more nibbles but need to keep my hands off them. If I hide them I wil forget where I put them

Special chocolates, nibbles, a couple of cookfood ready meals, when I have a few inches in my freezer. Not forgetting a couple of special puds and a couple of mini bottles of wine. I don`t want to go overboard

It's not earlier, it's for more reasons.

It used to be: Bonfire Night. Now that's from the Saturday before to the Saturday after as fewer do it "on the 5th" now.

Other dates have been added. e.g. Millennium/2000 saw London do fireworks for the first time, now it's every year and an increasing number of places.

Then there are individuals' birthdays and weddings, that never used to happen.

Also, more recently, is Diwali, which I'd never heard of 15-20 years ago - that's this weekend, so lots of fireworks will be put on for that by organisations and restaurants.

This year I'm foisting myself upon a sibling. Said sibling is an over-shopper who simply scoops up armfuls of food they fancy all year round, with Xmas being an overload. There is absolutely no point in me contributing anything as there will be more than enough for a dozen people (and there will only be the 2 of us for 2-3 days) ....

Footloose and without responsibilities. I'll just idly toss some £££ their way and eat whatever they've bought. Their food tastes are not the same as mine, but there's more than enough of an overlap of snacky things for me to be more than amply fed and watered.
  • I've had two slices of toast with marg and Marmite.

I'm going to make us both veggie burgers later with salad and gherkins and ketchup in mine. My husband only has ketchup in his one.:p
