Cooking for one (Mark Three)

Good evening everyone,
Welcome to CFO rhcp:), I don't tend to cook small amounts in my slow cooker as even my "baby" 1.5L holds 2-3 portions. However I did try popping a single portion of beef olives in a covered bowl once. I put the bowl on a trivet in the SC surrounded by a little water. They did cook pretty well but didn't take noticeably less time. Like Farway I usually find gravy needs thickened for most things cooked in the SC.
Glad you got your leak sorted Wednesday
Four burgers PN:eek:, defintely too many for me unless they were bite-sized ones - two I could probably manage depending on the size/what was with it! Though tbh I reckon my boy's and my nephew, especially when they were hollow legged teens, would probably have not not blinked an eye at your house mates meal though possibly might have wondered where the chips were and what was for pudding :rotfl::rotfl:
I'm firmly [STRIKE]blaming [/STRIKE]thanking unrecordings for inspiring my lunch today. I do like a hot dog, mystery meat or not, and buy a chilled pack from time to time as portioned they freeze fine. A quick check of my freezer list and yes there were some stashed. :)No finger rolls but a defrosted tiger roll worked just fine. With some gently fried onions, a quickly mixed mayo/ketchup/mustard sauce it was blooming lovely:D:D.
Earlier I had a quick trip to my Dad's to not terribly successfully match some random keys and thankfully more successfully test the CH. The missives were exchanged today so things should go ahead on Friday barring any hitches. Just the meters to read tomorrow and then my sis will pop the keys to the lawyers late afternoon.
My new dress arrived this afternoon and I love it, definitely a good buy as I will be able to wear it all year round.Better still, a rake through my wardrobe and various try on laters I have a couple of cardis that will go with it (it's short sleeved so will need one ) though I will keep an eye out for a red one for Christmas if I see one I like at a decent price.
After a dry but windy morning it's now blowing a hooley, lashing with rain and baltic:(. Comfort food is definitely required and thanks to the freezer, dinner is another easy one.A few months ago I made a batch of Greek lasagne and had surplus of all the components which I froze separately, these are getting assembled tonight into a CFO version and I'll nuke some garden beans to have with it.

You're welcome. Of course you don't need finger rolls, a breadcake cut in two serves as two rolls, I've even found that a wrap (or half a wrap) can be quite interesting in terms of layers (A full 10" wrap tightly rolled with some salad spinach & American style mustard is particularly nice)

Evening all
I've not had hot dogs for years i use to chop them up and put in rice or pasta. Unrecordings when I was in W8itrose lunchtime I did see a jar of your Meica hot dogs and they were on offer, I did resist
Wednesday I hope your plumber charged for the job and not by the hour
Glad the dress fitted Caronc and handy you have matching cardigans very :money:
Went into the SM lunchtime to buy fruit and ....... still can't remember what the other thing was so obviously not important, I thought about it in a meeting this morning and decided I would remember so didn't write it down
I made carnation chicken with the last of the chicken and stirred it into some LO pasta and had with a spinach salad for lunch. Dinner was late so a nice and easy spicy breaded quorn fillet in a flat bread with some raw spinach, fillet was cooked in the air fryer

I thought it was time to tackle more of the 1cel4nd frozen chicken fillets I'd bought. I ate three the other day; I cooked six tonight (three for now and three I cooked to be renuked tomorrow). I used the oven ... by God it feels like forever when you're standing staring at an oven door for 25-30 minutes waiting! The first three I'd nuked .... 3-4 minutes that took. I'll be nuking the rest I suspect.
I had a little grope around in the bag to ascertain how many were in the pack, it's 17. Having used 3+3+3 now that leaves eight - so future portions should be 4-apiece ... although I will double check the quantity again next time I get the bag out.
Today I've had:
1x poached egg + 1x toast.
Another 1x egg & 1x toast
An egg/cucumber sandwich.
3 chicken strips & chips.
Just 1 slice of bread and two crusts left in that packet nowAnd under 1/4 of a cucumber. Tomorrow I might just finish off the cucumber and have a 1-slice cucumber/egg sandwich.... that'll leave the two crusts for cheesy beans on toast or cheese on toast at some point.
Deliberately have had no sweeties for a few days now... as tempting as it has been to pop out and buy/scoff some0 -

I was going to look today as it seemed strange that Waitrose also (according to their website) had stopped stocking Bisto vegetarian/vegan gravy granules - so hopefully that's them just being rubbish. Hopefully the Meica are still on offer. As for the salmon, rice & capers, I realise I've still half a pack of 'fresh' cappelletti Which I'm paranoid is going to go furry (as they tend to these days). I only opened it on Tuesday and it needs to be eaten today or Saturday...

Oh well, at least it is done now.
I felt really hungry when he left so I had a veg burger in two buns with gherkins, lettuce and ketchup! Also crisps.:o:D

Hope the gas man goes okay Candygirl.
My God, it is pouring out there. I went to buy olives and pasta sauce as I fancied spaghetti.Wednesday I hope your plumber charged for the job and not by the hour
He luckily only charged us for the first two hours as it was the fault of the tap he used!:eek:0 -
Another wet day, started as foggy when I went into town, turned wet as I was mooching
A good mooch today, no YS but I was after specific items
Found the ginger curd, gulp, it was £3.29, bought it anyway as I have to try it
Mind you same stuff is £7.08 on 4mazon, and the same pickled walnuts are £5.20 so my purchases could be considered a bargain, :money:
Found pickled walnuts in W8rose, on offer, £2.02, so grabbed two jarsunrecordings wrote: »Pies tonight. We've earned them. Pieminster Moo Pie (beef & ale) for me, Pieminster Chooks Away (vegan creamy chicken). Little mini roasties, beetroot, carrot & cabbagy stuff from the garden. Gravy for one
Ha, also spotted all pies on offer in W8rose, I saw the Pieminister ones but opted for Pukka on offer a quid. One beef + one leek & spud
Could be pie, peas & mash tonight, with pickled walnuts maybe?
Lunch was slice of toast with ginger curd, it's not overpowering ginger, sort of lemon curd with ginger after taste. Jury's out on on it until I've had moreEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Omg, just found a box of shortbread sheep in the car. Would be rude not to have one with a mug of Yorkshire Tea :rotfl:
FARWAY the ginger curd sounds interesting"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
