  • I have some fish fingers out so may have with chips tonight, or sarnies at lunch. Took some chickpeas out of freezer a few days ago so will check if they are OK and if so may do a chickpea and spinach curry with rice tonight, We will see.
  • I sometimes have two burgers at a time, but not four!

Hot dogs remind me of my primary school discos, we used to have them with orange squash.:D

I actually like the vegan hot dogs and think they taste exactly the same.

Now what I really used to like was a saveloy from the chip shop. Ooh, I just checked and you can get a vegan version.

  • The plumber is still here. I think I will have the leftover soup with a wholemeal roll when he has left.

I fancied a poached egg on toast... but I've not got "my usual nuker + my usual pots", so had to 2nd guess power and timings.

Got it wrong, the egg was fully cooked, but still soft in texture.

I'll get it right next time by reducing the time.

Cooked this one in a mug, whereas I usually do it in my old nuker with a pod and dish to float the pod in.

1 egg, 1 slice of bread, bit of marg; breakfast cost 13p.
  • I fancy sausages now. I might have one in a roll with some ketchup instead of the soup!:p I've got some Morrison's ones in the freezer.

Hi, how long do you need to cook in a slow cooker if you are only cooking one meal. It's only about a fifth full so I would have thought it wouldn't need to be on as long as if it was full.

I tried today doing 1 hour high and 2 hours low, and it was ok, but the gravy didn't thicken up as it should do, so i'm just experimenting with the times at the moment.

I'd do most things at least 3 hours.... depends what you're cooking though. After 3 hours poke it and see what you think... it'll probably need another 1 hour.

Gravy may not thicken as it would in an oven, there is no evaporation / dehydration as there is in oven. In fact slow cooker food tends to make liquid

I find I have to mix in thickener, like cornflour / water, or sprinkle flour in at the start
Timing, as per PN, the advantage of slow cooked is bung in & forget so timing is not critical
If you are in hurry use the micro wave, oven or stove top

Lunch, I added a grilled tom to the scrambled eggs on toast
Dinner, still pasta + chicken etc, never found my tin of mushrooms, maybe I used them ages ago and mis-remembered

My new ISP has just mailed me, increasing by £2 a month:( Cor blimey Guv I've only just joined:mad:
'phoned, nothing doing WRT keeping price so I'm off and not yet paid first month's DD
Not a problem for me but no wonder firms lose money, only plugged their free router in a fortnight back
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens
  • The plumber was here for about 4 hours! The kitchen tap kept leaking water.

Oh well, at least it is done now.

I felt really hungry when he left so I had a veg burger in two buns with gherkins, lettuce and ketchup! Also crisps.:o:D

Pies tonight. We've earned them. Pieminster Moo Pie (beef & ale) for me, Pieminster Chooks Away (vegan creamy chicken). Little mini roasties, beetroot, carrot & cabbagy stuff from the garden. Gravy for one

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
