  • Thanks @Middle_of_the_Road

I must've skimmed over that bit when I was filling in the form.

If I already have a Santander current account (it is the lite one which they are reducing to an Everyday one in August) can I take advantage of their switching bonus if I move my Virgin Current account over to Santander Edge?
Thanks if anyone knows the answer to this one.

I'm sure that you will be able to change your account to an edge account and then switch in or open a new edge current account and switch. If you meet the criteria you should get the bonus.

I can't work out on this new Barclays offer whether you can't have ever held a Barclays current account, or just can't have had one open as of 15th July.

I assume you mean this clause from the offer Terms?
You will not be eligible for this offer if:
    • You already have any open Barclays Current Account on or before this offer started on 15 July 2025.
The English is tortuous but I take it to mean that you cannot have had a current account with Barclays open on 15 July or contiguously earlier. The offer is available to those who do not have a current account with Barclays, they are disbarring persons who might close a "current" current account just to re-open for this offer.

I wouldn't take it to mean that you can never have had a Barclays current account to be eligible, otherwise there would be no point in including a clause disbarring those who have ever received a switching bonus from Barclays.

No, you cannot get the switch bonus if you held a Santander account since 1st January 2025. The eligibility is on their app when you get to the bit about switching an account to Santander.

That was how I was reading it, so I'm glad it's not just my logic.

Now the problem of working out whether we got switching offers last time...there must have been some sort of incentive, but it may just have been profiting from the old Blue Rewards.

I still have access to my old current account statements as I still hold a Barclaycard, but that isn't the case for my wife, so we'll probably end up ringing them anyway.

Double checking the Natwest switch doesn't require direct debits? I don't see it explicitly mentioned on the MSE page or in the T&Cs but worried that I'm blind.

There is no mention that direct debits are required. I'm doing a switch from Lloyds and I definitely don't have any direct debits. You can sleep sound in the knowledge that if your application is refused it won't be because of a lack of direct debits. 😁😁
