NatWest £125 switch incentive

I'd already had to make a second application because the HMRC letter took a few weeks to arrive.
The first one seemed more "real" than the second one, but maybe only because I set up some PIN and password, which now I think about it was probably only to use Digidocs - which let me straight in the second time around (and I could see both the expired and the current application).
They also sent me a lot more chaser e-mails the first time. I was hoping that the reason for the silence this time was because they'd got my ID and were in the process of sending me my card and everything. Clearly not! I don't know whether they would even have bothered getting back to me if I hadn't called. Maybe I'll get a letter in a few weeks' time...
Anyhow. The deadline for online applications to get the switch bonus has long passed now, in fact we're approaching the final deadline to instruct the actual switch, so I think this one's a dead duck for me.
Thanks for the moral support through the thread, all!0 -
So I call to chase the processing of my ID that I took in to the branch (on the instructions of the telephone helpline who'd assured me that this didn't invalidate the online-ness of the application), only to be told that the online account can only be opened with photographic ID.
Not true. If you look upthread (somewhere) you'll find my post where I was told that all they actually wanted was a copy of my signature, which they got from the form I sent back to them. My account was opened and the switch completed.
They have no idea what they are doing, I'm afraid.Thing is though, I've been told so many different things by these guys now (four different stories in four interactions) that I don't know whether this is true or not.
Has anybody on here been able to open an online account without photographic ID?
Yes. See above.I'm annoyed about having been led up the garden path on this one. Getting the HMRC letter was a faff and a half, and I stood in the sodding bank for over half an hour! And all they can do for me now is "sorry you've been misinformed" and offer to open me a normal account with no switch bonus.
You don't need to open an account without the switching bonus. Phone them up and clarify exactly why they want the photo ID. Push them in the direction that what they actually want is a scan of your signature and that can be provided via the form you should have been sent to sign and return.0 -
Has anyone actually received the Nat West £125 switch bonus yet?
My switch completed around 18 January and I had deposited £1500 in the Nat West account before that date.
I know the t and c's say that the bonus will be paid (at latest) by 13 April, so it's not overdue, but I really can't see why they don't pay it to qualifiers at this stage.0 -

Because no one can qualify until 13th of April due to this condition:-
"If you meet the eligibility criteria for this offer, we’ll pay £125 into your eligible account by 13 April 2018, but please note:
If you close your eligible account before this date, then the £125 won’t be paid.
ie to be eligible for the £125 you have to fullfill all the conditions and still have the account open on the 13th April.0 -
Ah, thanks for that explanation I too was wondering why they delay in paying the £125 and I had missed the fact that the account needed to be kept open until then.0

There is no incentive to them to give you the money any earlier.Because no one can qualify until 13th of April due to this condition:-

Not necessarily. They could recoup the £125 if you closed the account before 13th April, just as Nationwide do with the refer a friend scheme in instances where an account is closed within three months.0 -
I started my application online, got an application number, made an appointment with my local branch and took my paper ID in for verification. I do not have photo ID, and provided a signature during the branch appointment. The account was set up, the switch is complete, card reader received and activated, £1500 dripping into the account in chunks, two more to go.
In the early hours of this morning I received a text message and THREE emails reminding me to upload my ID using DigiDocs, and to ignore them if I'd already done it. The first few digits of the customer number on the email are not the same as mine. I've just phoned them - 30 minutes on hold to 0345 3030299, then tried 0800 200400 and got through quickly.
Worried by Snakey's experience I asked if my account is showing as an online or branch account, as the switching incentive was my reason for applying. She said "It all looks fine, absolutely fine...", which didn't answer the question. I told her about the text and emails regarding DigiDocs and she said she would have to transfer me to the DigiDocs dept, then I spent another 30 minutes on hold and have given up. I'll put the rest of the £1500 into the account and wait to see if the switching bonus arrives.
Good luck Snakey, I hope you get some sense out of them!0 -
Lol, tried to call them back just now to ask the same question again to see if I get a different answer, and got a recorded message saying that they can't put me through to anybody "due to a building evacuation".
They've not been my lucky bank, this lot.0 -
Good morning, a quick question for those that have switched before please.
I have followed all the steps including depositing 1500 in my natwest. Now though I was wondering if i need to leave it there till i get the 125 switch bonus or if I can take it out again?
Thank you in advance and happy snow day!0 -
