I made a roast chicken dinner with roast potatoes, pigs in blankets and cauliflower/broccoli in cheese sauce followed by sherry trifle. I’m definitely starting to shake off this virus and feel better but after all the effort to cook supper, I didn’t have much of an appetite and only managed to eat a teeny tiny bit. Mister CJ insists he still feels awful but he polished off two big plates full so I think he must be on the mend :-)

Starter - platter of chili chicken gougons with a sweet chili dip, breaded mushrooms with a garlic dip & deep fried brie all served on garlic bread.

Main - chicken fillets in peppercorn sauce, champ, cauliflower, sweetcorn, carrots, broccoli & butter fried cabbage strips.

    Dessert - not a hope!

(OK, I cheated: local(ish) family run bar with an occasional function room now revamped into full time restaurant)

Definitely going to be on the 'treat' circuit from now on.

  • The last of the stilton and broccoli soup for lunch today and we have some lovely cold gammon for supper which will be eaten with a jacket potato and some salad leaves and pickles yum! black coffee to finish with too.
  • We'll be having the same main course as yesterday as that meal was planned to be enough for two days, so it will be slow-cooked pork shoulder steaks served with broccoli, HM yorkies and roasties. Different dessert though - fresh fruit!

  • Lunch today will be a tortilla pizza. Tonight I'm cooking a roast chicken with roasties, veg, stuffing and gravy. There'll be enough leftovers for a stir fry tomorrow and some soup later in the week.
