Friends had to re-schedule so no Julia Child tonight!
Islandmade read the book which wasn’t bad and have seen the Meryl Streep film but have absolutely no wish to cook let alone eat the vast majority of recipes in the books.. aspic anyone?
After picking up a copy* of Gil Meller’s “Time: A year and a day in the kitchen” at lunch decided to do myself the breakfast dish “bacon & kidneys with mustard and cream” for supper. Was planning on serving it with linguine but ended up doing as the recipe suggested.... on toast. With a glass of wine it definitely went down well.
*Have his previous book “Gather” which has pretty much spent the last 18? Months gathering dust.... looks nice but not many recipes you’d want to cook.0 -

Been busy with dog walking and chores since before the crack of dawn so porridge is brunch rather than breakfast!
Dinner will be a large helping of mixed greens (sprouts, broccoli, asparagus, cabbage) plus any other veg that needs using. Chicken for dh and vegan sausage for me plus veg gravy for us both.
Fruit and yogurt for dessert:)0 -
It has been a while since I posted on this excellent thread, and I have lost my cooking MOJO after being unwell.
Yesterday was a complete failure, as I tried to use up some courgettes, older potatoes in a tomato, onion and garlic sauce in a tray bake with grated cheddar on top.
It was dry for some reason and the courgettes had a funny taste.
So, today I am going to attempt a shepherds pie, but will need to buy some carrots and spring onions (I always put spring onions or leeks in the mash).
I hope it works because my SP used to be pretty tasty.0 -
I have leftover roast chicken to use up, I need inspiration any ideas folks?0
