  • Lunch at the Swedish shop today no NOT the ubiquitous meatballs BUT a large plate of salad each and free coffee so filling and very tasty lunch for two for under £5.

Supper tonight will be some delicious pasties we got from the Farm Market on the way home we've had them before and they really are nice. Cup of coffee to finish and if HWK gets nibblish later on I've oatcakes and cheese to fill his gaps!

I'm trying to empty the freezer before Xmas + using up stuff in the cupboards that was bought on a whim and I never got round to using them.

Right now the slow cooker contains a pouch of cooking sauce I was "gifted" about 18 months ago and never got round to using + a pack of cubed beef I bought/froze in the first week of May + the final 6 wrinkly mini tomatoes that've needed using up for a few weeks now. That, with some basmati rice, will be my meal today (and tomorrow).

Stacked up on the worktop, so I don't forget, I have a tin of pears and a cake pack mix... and, once the SC's been cleaned (so it might not be today, but might have to be in the next 2-3 days) ... I'll be doing something in the SC with those... I think it'll be a cake to be served cold, but it might be a pear pudding to be served hot with custard ... have to see.
  • He Who Knows has built the book cases and I have liberated my cook books from their boxes and it's lovely having them back for the ideas they give. Today for lunch I made us a vegan green vegetable biryani which was really nice and supper tonight will be some jacket potatoes with baked beans and cheese and a big salad which will also be very nice.

Currently marinating some chunks of chicken breast fillets in yogurt and tikka spices, which I will grill and serve with an Asian-inspired salad (and a glass or two of wine, while watching Strictly!).
