I fancied fish pie, but husband wanted fish and chips.
So he had oven fish and chips with peas and I had baked salmon, sweet potatoes and spinach.
I also made some broccoli soup and some bread, which daughter had when she came in.
  • Lunch is an unknown as we're off to the rugby this afternoon and will pick something up when we're in the city and supper tonight will be some cheese omelettes and salad as we've eggs to use up. Fruit and yoghurt to follow and our usual coffee.

Husband burned himself the other day using the microwave. He put a cup of milk in to warm up, took it out and put a spoon into the milk to stir it. As the spoon went into the milk the milk exploded. Never seen anything like it. He had a bad burn on his hands where the milk splashed up and it was all over the work surfaces.

    Ouch

I done the same in work, took a pot of gravy out of the micro, it hit the side as I was doing so, it boiled up and splashed my hand, the shock of that made my hand fly up and I tipped a pint of boiling gravy down my arm

It rolled down taking a couple of layers of skin with it :( Arm is a complete mess, worse in the summer as when I tan, the burned areas show up black

All liquids that come out of the microwave have a tendency to explode when agitated. Always leave for a minute before stirring

  • Lebanese green split pea soup. First time I've made it and I think it's going to become a regular, it was so tasty and filling!
  • Meatball lasagne from the latest GF. Bit unusual and more work than usual, but everything was from what we had in, even the spinach was home-grown.

Tomorrow will be pot roast beef, didn't realise the joint was so big (2kg) so will have to cut it in half and use the other bit for beef curry. (Oh, how we suffer!)
