Being very lazy today and also haven't been fancying food much lately but do have a craving for a jacket potatoe so dinner will be a jacket potato with some of the chicken salad I made yesterday. Keep it simple.
Have a good day all xx

My internal clock has been sent completely haywire by getting up at 3:30am on May morning and then having breakfast at 5am, I even got home from the celebrations before the time my alarm clock usually goes off. By 6pm that evening I was too tired to do anything except collapse into bed so didn't have any dinner at all.
Yesterday I made myself a courgette frittata with the last two eggs and ate it with the end of the bread and a rocket and tomato salad.

we ended up having steak and chips last evening. a rare treat as OH has decided he doesn't much enjoy beef anymore. and to make up for that dinner we'll just be having soup and sandwiches tonight. there's some onion and red wine soup in the cupboard courtesy of Lidl. there's lots of tinned tuna available as well as cheese, tomatoes. I did suggest we could boil some eggs and OH could make a egg and prawn roll. nothing specific decided yet.
edited to ask - @goldfinches - were the birds nice and noisy? they seem a tad quieter around our way this year, haven't spotted any thrushes or blackbirds but there are the usual clattering of robins though none with nests that I can monitor. we had them 2 years in a row nesting quite low in the clutter of the car port - great for watching the little ones jump out of the nest for the first time but worrying as they were in easy reach of cats and foxes.

@Brie - yes the birds around here are very noisy this year, I think the traffic reduction has definitely helped. I spotted a wren nest building on my walk this morning but didn't have my camera with me so I'm going to try and catch it again tomorrow. I do envy you being able to see robin chicks, I only ever see them once they're fledged.
I made pea and barberry fritters from Helen Graham's book Centrepiece this evening and they were delicious. I ate them with cous cous and a mixed salad followed by a decaf coffee.
ETA: forgot to add the photo, sorry.

@goldfinches - the one app I was happy to add to my phone a couple of months back is the Merlin one - can't remember who suggested it. Anyways - it's from Cornell University and IDs birds by their songs. It's been great fun.

@Brie - I have Merlin too and love it. I didn't catch the wren this morning, it shot by me so fast that I couldn't press the shutter quickly enough but I have several good shots of the nest entrance and will go back and try again.
I had the last of the fritters this evening with potatoes, savoy cabbage and sweetcorn followed by a home made brown roll with butter and blackcurrant jam.

Last evening we had the pork chops from our meat guy at the market. Lovely thick, on bone ones. With a bit of kidney. I sliced off the crackling and put that on top of the roast potatoes and grilled the chops. There weren't a lot of roasties so I added a jacket (nuke for 5 minutes and then 35 in the oven on the roastie tray) and too many parsnips. OH as usual had gravy (note to self to check the gravy situation before going out shopping as someone (OH I assume) put the pork jar back in the cupboard empty.)
We'll do an easy one tonight - Lidl will provide a fish pie for OH and I'll nab one of their pizzas that will do for dinner tonight as well as lunch etc tomorrow.

I made the Greek bean soup from this page in the slow cooker yesterday evening while I was on Zoom for a meeting and then ate a portion with a home made roll for dinner and same again this evening.

@goldfinches - the soup looks lovely to me but OH would gasp in horror at the sight of cooked celery. A pet hate of his. I might consider a version that does without it - I do love good home made soup and don't make it often enough.
Tonight will be chicken legs, a simple salad of lettuce and tomatoes with fresh chives (& cucumber for OH, yuck) and a small baguette for OH too. We've also got one of those pots of olives and feta in the fridge - might get that out as I assume it needs to be used up sooner rather than later. OH bought it along with tarmasalata & humous but neither of us enjoyed the humous at all and it got binned. I think he's forgotten about the olives so will be pleased if I present them to him as an "amuse bouche".

I had a portion of chips from the van up the road by the church as a treat on my way back from the polling station which was in another church. I meant to chase them down with some salad but was too full to bother.
