Still working our way through lots of lettuce, so more salad for lunch, probably with avocado and boiled eggs.

Chilli con carne for dinner (just made it, lots of black/kidney beans 😋) with jackets and - yes - more salad!

When sorting out the freezer, I found some slices of a posh stem ginger cake I was given a little while ago I forgot I'd sliced it up and I had frozen it in two slice portions ,so it either going to be eaten spread with some butter, or perhaps warmed through with a squirt of cream on it for later :) I love the little surprises that sometime appear when rearranging the freezer :) I've also found some sliced chilli flavoured  halloumi which I think I will have at tea time for a change.
The chicken salad is delicious and has used up most of my salad bits and pieces.

We have voted this weekend to be a mini holiday, get us back used to being just us two.

Frank has had an early morning jaunt on the beach, before it gets too hot, lovely to see so many people down there, swimming, jogging, and like us dog walking or just taking a stroll.

the rest of the day pottering in the garden and the odd plunge in the very cool hot tub.

I have an assortment of food, various meats and cheeses, some chicken wings, 2 plump fillet steaks from the local farm for tonight, with asparagus and HM Hollandaise. Strawberries from the garden for pud. Will pull a couple of local reared pork chops out of the freezer for tomorrow - we won’t starve 🤣

Off to make a loaf for him, trying a new recipe Pão de água - Portuguese water bread

todays lunchtime meal is going to be a surprise as I pulled something out of the freezer just now and haven't a clue what it might be it could be anything as the foil is stuck to it like glue so who knows what my mystery meal may be :) its got to be edible as it was well wrapped when it went in there :) It looks like its covered in either batter or crumb but I shall await for it to defrost. I always have a cheesy jacket spud if all else fails :)

I picked up a lot of tenderstem broccoli free from the Community Fridge yesterday, so tonight I’m making a dish of Chinese broccoli braised in garlic, ginger, chilli, hoisin, soy and sesame which we’ll have with a little bit of steamed rice. The rest of the broccoli will be made into a quiche to have with salad, probably for Monday evening.

currently we're talking about having the frozen sardines (obviously will thaw and cook of course!!) and I've proposed a tomato bean salad to go with them.  It's fish 2 nights in a row having had salmon last night so plans may change.
