was looking forward to a nice caesar salad last night and when I went to open the new bottle of dressing OH had purchased spotted that it was just called "classic" dressing.  Horrible too as it was quite sweet.  A Mary Berry one so not particularly cheap I think.  Wondering if I should send something through to say how unpleasant it is - but I expect there's nothing actually wrong with it other than it's not something I like.

tonight we've got little bratwurst to go on the bbq (supposedly cook in 5 minutes) plus lidl coleslaw and potato salad.  there's some rolls too if OH wants some.

Oh and wondering about making some soup from things found in the freezer that got defrosted.  I've got a bag of rocket and another bag of bistro salad leaves - so mostly spinach type stuff plus the shredded beet they put in there.  I'm wondering about using a stock cube, a chopped onion, a potato and the greens and beet and then give it all a good blitz.  Wondered if the beet would make it too sweet....  thoughts???

Maybe put some curry spices in to counteract any sweetness @Brie ? Although I think it would probably be ok as is.

Communication mix up tonight - kids ended up having to eat early from the freezer (chicken kievs, wedges and sweetcorn) so DH and I are going to have an OOD pasta sauce with olives from the pantry with spaghetti and garlic mushrooms later.

    Thanks for the suggestion @happydenial

I went to make the soup and looked at the limp slimy mess in the freezer bag and the bin was the winner.  just didn't look at all appetizing so thought it best to draw a line under that adventure.

out tonight for a leaving do for the woman that hired me last year.  I guess 8 months of putting up with me was enough to do her in.  So pizza at a pub.  It's a bit of a drive there so I can't ask the OH to drop and pick me up so won't be drinking (not that it's a drinking crowd - most colleagues seem to be teetotal).  Quite frankly I'll probably be there and back before OH has the taxco curry I bought for his dinner.  (he was a bit miffed when he realised that he wasn't invited and that he hadn't been given the option to choose his own dinner....this despite me telling him about 5 times in the last week that I was driving myself there, that he would be on his own for the evening and him stating categorically that he wanted a curry from taxco for dinner. sigh)
