    We're away this weekend, so i ended up making sticky sesame tofu with veg and noodles to use up a pack of tofu, a green pepper, half a courgette and some mushrooms. Also made a vegan banana bread with ginger for pudding to use up some manky bananas.

    Hotter than a hot thing today…

    BBQ’d local raised lamb racks with the last of the home grown asparagus and a cucumber salad.  Local strawberries with cream from our local dairy 👌

    Friday is wine day 😜

    pork loin steaks last night were a major disappointment.  tough in the extreme.  we've been spoiled by having excellent quality pork from our meat guy and this was a pack of store bought ones.

    OH is out shopping and has proposed chinese for tonight.  Nice!

    Fish two days in a row (the sea bass yesterday was delicious) as I’ve bought a couple of cod loins for tonight. Probably have them simply pan fried, and served with the crushed new potatoes and steamed broccoli from yesterday which I will reheat by tossing in garlicky butter.

    Strawberries from the local farm shop (we have plenty in the garden, but they are still green!) with cream for pud. And wine. I’m quite liking that Jam Shed rose (I have no accent acute on my iPad, sorry) for a cheap and cheerful Friday night treat.

    We’re off to the North Island for the night, hopefully go to a fab tapas place, then onto Burlesque evening.

    OH is DELIGHTED that I suggested popping to IKEA tomorrow 😆 but I want to look at some units for his man cave, want to try and achieve a built in look for his ‘office’, he could make the units, but this will be quicker - and meatballs, obviously 🙌

  • Weather seems to have turned here in Wales, grey and damp today, so beef in ale stew and dumplings for dinner with some local new spuds and various veg. Leftover stew will be frozen and become steak in ale pies next week.

    They say no rain here until tomorrow although it is a bit more cloudy.  So OH will do the honking big beef rib roast on the Weber and plans on serving it with jerseys and corn on the cob.

    @Islandmaid
    meatballs is the only reason to go to ikea IMHO.

  • A fridge clearout tonight: bacon, egg, sausage, a couple of mushrooms and leftover new potatoes cooked in the air fryer.

    Had a lovely evening, 100 watt club was great, then out for a late dinner at an Anatolian restaurant, grilled meat and salad - perfect 🤩

    Skipped Ikea, too blooming warm, so back to the Island before lunchtime.

    Maybe frittata and salad or pork Larb - both easy and tasty 👌
