Shopping arrived and Tesco had 5 for 4 on freezer items so I got 5 items (burger buns, cheese and onion pasties, steak bake, flipper dippers and some cheese and bacon jacket potatoes). I try and get items all roughly the same price to maximise savings. As we had very little room due reductions already in the freezer. So I got out some burgers and the frozen buns. I highly recommend the American frozen buns from Tesco (other supermarkets might have them), it’s £1.25 for 8 but they really are nice.I’ll do homemade chips and salad bits:money::rotfl::T3

Today was lunch in quarr abbey, that really was a lovely spiritual place. I had a vege plowmans, that had a lovely chutney on it. Had a long walk around the grounds then headed off to bembridge where we let the dog run wild on the beach. For an older dog she was surprisingly full of beans.
Later on back at our accommodation I used up a few bits in the fridge and made omelettes, which we had with tinned baked beans.
Loving the coffee in the isle of wight, will definitely be taking some beans home with me.2 -
@JIL so glad you enjoyed Quarr it’s one of my favourite places on the Island, it has such a calm feeling about it, the walk down to the beach along to fishbourne is amazing and peaceful. The Old Village Inn at Bembridge is a family favourite, the landlord is a huge hit with Noah, especially when he’s given wood fired pizza 🤣 and please do visit Woodford’s butchers ‘pies to die for’ as I was once told 🤣 quite pricey but packed with meat and well worth the price, sausage rolls are pretty good too 👍Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

**takes notes** (Mr CJ is very partial to a nice sausage roll and/or pie)
The lamb flatbreads last night were fab, I will definitely do those again (after I’ve saved up for another leg of blimmin expensive leg of lamb!!)
Tonight we’re having bangers and mash, followed by rhubarb and ginger crumble.3 -
@C_J Mr CJ will not be disappointed 😊 I often but lamb (and other meats) from https://bennetts-butchers.co.uk/ they do some amazing offers on a Sunday, they meat is great quality, named day delivery and have got some Lamb bargains recently, £2.99 for half leg of lamb, 1 per customer blah blah blah
the flatbreads sound great BTW 😋
Noah and his mum are on the mainland overnight, so the rest of us will just use up what needs eating in the fridge, we’ve for a generous portion of last nights curry, loads of salad, a cooked jacket potato and some cooked corn on the cob, also a friend has dropped off 2 dozen eggs as their hens are working overtime, so omelette etc is a possibility - we won’t starve and it’s a day off from the kitchen for me - win/win 🥳Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

OH last week "I can't abide Sainsbury's!! I swear I'm never shopping there ever again!!!"
OH this morning "Can you make sure you get some cash out so we can have fish and chips for dinner tonight?"
OH when I get home from work and making sure I've been to the cash machine "Sainsbury's had a special deal so it's pizza and prosecco for dinner tonight!"

We did the long walk at the garlic farm today, and then had a very garlicky lunch there, which was delicious and beautifully presented.
We also had a walk along ventnor seafront and popped into arreton barns.
We just had some cheese and tomato on toast for a late tea.
I'm hoping to go back to bembridge tomorrow, husband loves sausage rolls and pies, and may well be taking some home to share with parents.

Was up in the Big Smoke today meeting a friend for some art type culture.
Dinner when i got home was pesto pasta, I'm not a huge fan of it made at home, despite liking the shop bought cold one? Anyway, it was actually quite nice tonight, tried to be a bit more sparing with the pesto which might have been the issue previously and put me off.
