HM pizza tonight. Need to make some more dough and sauce. Went to a posh freezer store earlier to stock up on some meals for guests coming next week, nearly fell over at the total, but will be handy as I have to work some days and nice to have some easy stuff in that's a bit of a treat.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I have cooking to do today, as there were lots of veg etc etc being given away at the Community Fridge yesterday which need to be prepped. So ….. for tonight I am making a carrot and harissa tarte tatin which we will have with salad (mixed salad leaves, radishes, spring onions, tomato, cucumber and avocado all courtesy of the fridge).
I am also going to cook some rhubarb in orange juice and honey (all from fridge as well) and then turn it into a couple of rhubarb crumbles.
I have two very large catering sized containers of double cream and I plan to turn those into butter.
Soup for the next few lunches will be leek and potato, and I have some small baguettes to slice, slather with garlic butter and freeze to have later in the week. Again, absolutely all ingredients from the fridge.I heart that place so much, the people (volunteers and ‘customers’ alike) are just lovely. I was asked yesterday if I might be willing to join the team of organisers, and I would love to do something to give back but just don’t think I can dedicate the time required to it as there is so much else going on in my life right now. I might try and see if I can do some behind the scenes office-based stuff such as fundraising or liaising with the companies who donate the food.4 -
@C_J rhubarb and orange juice sounds lovely, something I would not have thought of thankyou for posting.
Last night we went to a pub with pizza ovens, so we ordered pizza, 50 mins later they arrived but nothing special. It was good to be out. I'm sure I have seen an advert for a ninja pizza oven, I may be tempted, if I haven't dreamt it!!
Tonight will be salad and chips, theres a huge gammon gone in the slow cooker. I bought it a couple of weeks ago. They were all half price, unfortunately the gammon I selected was much smaller and when I got to the til, there wasnt a price label, so I couldn't buy it. The store assistant fetched me another, but it was probably twice the size of the one I had selected. I was aware of the queue building behind me so I just accepted the swap.
Anyway husband can have some tonight, tomorrow and Monday and I will give some to the inlaws and my parents.

Got the M&S pizza special for tonight plus onion rings and battered mushrooms.
Then we went to the Polish deli to get breakfast things - lots of meat and cheese and dark rye bread. And also a much too big block of mozzarella to add to the pizza (I do like them cheesy!!) I'm considering grating the entire block or half of it and slicing the rest and then freezing what we don't need for tonight. Otherwise I'd probably just sit down and eat it. Oh - there's a thought - we do have a lot of tomatoes.....
It's nice to see all the very different things on sale in that shop. Big bags of frozen chanterelles, a huge array of different mustards and pickles - beets, cucumbers and all sorts. The variety of sausages (dried and fresh) is astounding. And there's a meat counter which has things like whole uncooked turkey breast which they will slice for you so you can make schnitzel and rabbit and pig trotters. Just wish I had the time and inclination to do that sort of thing justice!!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Ooh, those pizzas look delicious @kerri_gt!Tonight I will be pan frying a huge chicken breast and slicing it to divide between the two of us, served with some carrots, shredded cabbage and dauphinoise potatoes if I can be bothered to make that (otherwise just mash and gravy).
I have a large head of broccoli to use up too, and think I will turn that into a creamy sausage, broccoli and pasta bake for tomorrow, and a broccoli, mushroom, spring onion and noodle stir fry for Tuesday. Mister CJ is not keen on broccoli so I need to smother it with lots of other flavours 🤣🤣4 -
I’ve never understood pizza, especially takeaway pizza, loads of cash for cheese on toast 🤣
