Chilli and rice for us tonight. I'm trying to eat from the freezer over the next week or so in a valiant attempt to clear at least ONE drawer.

Here you go, this'll make you laugh:

You're going to think I'm mad, but before reading this forum it never occurred to me to serve up a meal in which we all had different things - I always cook the same for the two of us, and consequently end up with lots of single portions of random leftovers in the freezer with no opportunity to use them up if there aren't two of the same. I have since discovered that the World Does Not End if I have chilli and Mister C J has curry (although He does give me funny looks and gets possessive over which dish he wants  :D )

No cooking for me - I went to SA lunch club - gammon with roast potatoes/vegs + pud - trifle.

He's still deciding.  Pasta with tomato sauce (with garlic bread but no meatballs sadly) or soup and bread and cheese.

If he opts for soup I'll be having a jacket potato.  Like @C_J says - we always said we'd eat the same thing.  OH found it so odd that his mom and dad almost never had the same thing for dinner other than when there was a Sunday roast and swore we wouldn't do that.  But now we're a tad older (& I'm wearing purple....) it seems a perfectly sensible thing to do.

Early on I always had the notion we had to eat the same thing but OH did shifts when we met so it didn't always pan out like that. I gradually became fed up trying to come up with dishes we both liked and gradually we just ended up often doing our own thing, esp as we also often like to eat at different times.

There are times I'll say 'I'm planning x on y day' or 'do you want abc' but honestly there's plenty of things to get stressed about other than conforming to 'norms' that don't work for us.

So, tonight i fished what turned out to be chicken casserole and rice for me out of the freezer, and OH had cheese and broccoli pasta.

Tomorrow i have got out something I think may be chilli.

Mr F has been in  hospital for 18 days. Didn't visit yesterday so hoping for improvement today. He can't walk or get out of bed on his own.

@Florenceem I'm sure he'll appreciate seeing you today and you'll be stronger due to having a "day off".

@Florenceem sending virtual hugs, you need to be well too x

chicken and cashew stir fry tonight, with rice for them, I’m using chicory root syrup to sweeten the sauce, no carbs 👍 tastes like not so sweet honey.
