C_J said:I'm making macaroni cheese, with an assortment of veg (leeks and garlic sauteed in butter, steamed cauliflower, celeriac and spinach) blended into the cheese sauce. It's a version of something similar I saw on one of Jamie Oliver's programmes recently which I thought looked quite tasty.
I'm making a trifle for puds over the next few days with a sponge base drizzled with Cointreau, a drained tin of mandarins and some orange jelly. I must crack on and make the custard (WFH with Teams on mute and camera turned off!!) or it won't be set in time.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Yes, the veg are totally blended into the cheese sauce with a stick blender! It was a giveaway that there was veg in the sauce because the cooked leeks and spinach made it a pretty shade of light green, and you could not mistake the taste of cauliflower in it …. but it was really delicious.2

Bit of a use up day, Thai pork stir fry things for DS and DIL, DH and I will have fridge meze, LO bits and pieces.
I’m taking his nibs away for the weekend tomorrow, it’s his birthday Tuesday, just a night on the other side of the island, just nice to get away.
Frank will be having his first sleepover with our daughter 🫣 I’m sure it’ll be fine, but I want to bring him too 🙁 OH says he needs to learn to be away from us sometimes, which I guess is true.
updated picture of him, 15 weeks now

@Islandmaid I think your OH is right in this case. The last thing you want is a dog that has separation anxiety for the rest of his life and if you get him into good habits now, soon you'll have the choice about whether to take him or not knowing either way he'll be happy.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Frank is too cute, and seriously makes me want a dog (the cat would not approve 🙀).
Freezer rake here tonight I think, pizza with some YS mushroom croquettes and a huuuuge salad.Books read 2023 - 49/751 -
Frank is very cute. I hope you have a lovely weekend away. I'm coming to the island with my dog in May, so any dog friendly places you can recommend would be great.
Tonight I made use of my dual ninja, on one side there was fish and chips for husband. In the other chicken wings for daughter. Corn on the cob and peas were microwaved.
For me I used up vege bacon, cherry tomatoes and mushrooms with pasta.
All done in 20 mins.4 -
I’m sure IM will be back with more info shortly, but we like the Duver beach at St Helen’s as it is dog friendly all year round and has a nice cafe. It’s managed by the National Trust so free parking if you are a member.
There’s also useful info here: https://www.isleofwight.com/dog-friendly-holidays/
Dinner tonight isn’t very exciting. I have some burgers in the freezer which come as part of a bulk meat pack from the butchers, and they need using up so it’s cheeseburgers, chips and salad for us tonight.6 -
OH is doing the coq au vin with chips for dinner which is always lovely. I'd be half the person I am today if he wasn't such a good cook!!! (yes I could say no, but you don't, do you??) He makes a large portion so there'll be enough for tomorrow as well I expect.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
